WHERE: Hogwarts Express/Platform 9 3/4 and The Great Hall
WHAT: Gotta get back to Hogwarts! Back to witches and wizards and magical feasts! Students and teachers are finally heading back to school on the Hogwarts express, and with the new school year means sorting for the first years!
STATUS: Ongoing!
NOTE: There is a thread for the Train back to Hogwarts, and the Feast, with a subthread for the Sorting! First years can comment to be sorted, and everyone else can greet their new house mates/students!

[Aranea had been waiting for this day since a week after school let out. It was nice to be home, with all her personal things, to have her mother around her, to have her own space. But it was also highly lonely. There were not many children of her own age living around her, and the few that were went to muggle schools, and thus there were no close bonds. Letters to Meenah had helped ease the loneliness, but as they say; there is nothing like going back to Hogwarts.

Moments after her arrival on platform 9 3/4 Aranea was changed into her uniform, robes freshly pressed, her new Prefect badge shiny and her blue tie tied neatly. Storing her belongings in the prefect carriage she took to wandering around, greeting housemates and friends, the picture perfect student. Then when everyone gets on and the train leaves the station she stays in her compartment for a bit, feeding owl treats to Athena, and finishing off a book. Half an hour passes, and then she gets up, moving through the carriages to chat to students, and keep an eye on both the Ravenclaws and the new first years, smiling at some of their eyes of wonder]

[Somewhere in the back of the train, there's a compartment with the blinds drawn closed. In this compartment is one Miss Marceline Abadeer, reclining back on one seat with her booted feet propped up on the other and a guitar in hand, humming as she strums along.

Summer had been interesting to say the least, especially considering her recent status as a newborn vampire. Meeting Marshall at the Diagon Alley festival and knowing so many of her friends weren't repulsed or scared of her helped to lighten the load a little as it were. Home still wasn't an option though, and so Marcie had come to the Platform from a band mate's place.

She tilted the brim of her sunhat up, looking out the shaded window as the houses gave way to rolling green hills, chewing on the gum in her mouth. At least Hogwarts might be better than summer had been.]

[Bruce has found an empty compartment and promptly curled up on his side on a seat in it, bags tucked away safely and uniform still folded up so he doesn't wrinkle it during the ride to Hogwarts. It's the weekend of the full moon, and it's taken his toll, leaving him sickly pale with a bruised look around his eyes from fatigue. Despite the fairly warm weather, he's dressed in a hoodie to cover the pink weals left on his arms from the latest nightly fluffy escapades.]

[A purple and gold blur runs the length of train, tackle-hugging everyone he comes into contact with. Well, all the boys, at least. The girls get swept off their feet, spun around, and smooched on the cheek. Regardless, affection is being given out freely, forcefully, and regardless of whether or not he knows you. Such trivial details as previous interaction matter not. You are going to Hogwarts, and for that, Maxim loves you.]

[It's been a long summer. There was the Maxim thing, but far more major and disheartening was the amount of time she'd had to spend inside. She - sort of - understood that her mother was just worried about her; her part-Veela nature made it a more dangerous world, or so she though. Rapunzel had found things weren't always that bad, but...

Well, it didn't matter just then; she was wildly excited to be getting back to school! It would be so lovely to see everyone again... Even classes would be fun. She loved to learn new things, after all. She had found a cabin and was bouncing just a bit in her seat with excitement.]

[Baljeet is happily settled in a cabin. Atop his head sits a thin rat, looking around with obvious curiosity. Baljeet, for his part, is switching between reading the book he's holding in one hand and working on the letter in his lap.]

[Arthur will usually look for a compartment by himself, though he (usually) won't object to company. As it is, he doesn't have any yet, and is sitting by himself next to the window, looking out of it as the train moves through the countryside. He's not yet changed into his uniform, wearing a white t-shirt and a pair of slightly worn jeans, and has a small bag next to him, between himself and the side of the train.

Anyone who has seen Arthur on the train before will know that he always brings a large amount of sweets with him, and he's currently picking from a bag of what are most certainly Muggle sweets - a gift from his aunt

Generally, he's not fussy about sharing. It makes for a good conversation starter]

[Gamzee's wandering up and down the train, merrily greeting anyone he knows and a whole bunch of people he doesn't, or only vaguely remembers. He also is handing out little twists of brightly colored paper to most everyone he meets. They're hand decorated, with his odd drawings of clowns, or moons and stars, or more abstract patterns, and if untwisted, they will be found to contain a small cache of dried herbs of some type.

So, they're not drugs, there are teachers on this train, and even Gamzee isn't that dumb. But they do smell nice! Care to ask him to explain?]

[Herbert can be found in some isolated corner, feet pulled up onto the seat and very nearly curled up, his nose in a thick book. He's in a terrible mood, sort of hoping no one will notice he exists for a little while, and he looks out the window in between chapters.]

[Thor is in his robes, but he looks like he rolled out of bed in them, they're so wrinkled. His shaggy blond hair is a mess and he's half stuffing his face, half tugging people into bro hugs and playing 'HAAAAVE YOU MET LOKI' because he's so damn excited to have his brother with him on the train.

He's sharing a compartment with his bro, but he can't sit still for long without wandering around.]

[There's a large amount of croaking coming from a particular compartment about halfway down the train, noisy enough to wake a graveyard. Bilious Slick can be just as loud as his owner, who happens to be reading a new novel that he got for his birthday back in June. It's Fifty Shades of Grey. Karkat's curled up on one of the seats, knees drawn as he reads eagerly.]

[Marshall has claimed the empty compartment across from Marceline's. He has also drawn the shades and has a guitar case in the empty seat next to him. He unpacks it and messes around with tuning it for a bit to take his mind off of how weird it feels to be going back to Hogwarts after so long. He stares out the window and zones out for a bit and begins strumming the guitar aimlessly begins softly singing to himself a bit too. His voice is sexy rich and melodious. Yay for generations of practice. Feel free to bug the new guy or even sing along.he'd love it]

[Jade is not actually sitting and waiting in a compartment for something to happen. She has nothing valuable with her, no one would steal her stuff, so she's abandoned it and is now crashing randomly into other compartments looking for people she knows.

She's EXCIIIIIIIITED!]

[Even though it had been the best holiday ever Xion was glad to be getting back to Hogwarts. When she wasn't gallivanting around the country with Roxas and Axel, things at home were a little...stifling.

Not that anyone would know that, Merlin forbid.

She kicks her feet as she sits, waiting for the train to arrive at Hogwarts (or at least until the snacks cart comes by). She does want to get up and wander around for a bit, but that runs the risk of crashing into people...or accidentally walking in on them changing into their uniforms.

That's just plain rude. So she waits.]

[Feferi is walking between compartments, trying to find her sister, who has run off somewhere. Feferi could guess she either a) is trying to find the witch with the tea tolley or b) she has gone to find Aranea. She knows both are most likely one of the options have happened, but she is going to try and find her anyway, she carrying her sister's robes and she either of them have changed yet. But come and talk to poor, worried, Feferi before she starts tearing the train down to find her sister.]

[There's a nervous little awkward first year wandering around the train staring at everything. And possibly trying to avoid conversation, because how does he people. He's got a hugenormous Maine Coon following him around with a blue collar and a little bell, and she periodically grabs him by the ankle of his pants and steers him away from... Booths, walls, windows. She also seems to be keeping him from literally running into anyone.]

[There is a small pink-and-blue - pink only because she's wearing a pink bow in her hair along with her school uniform and its hints of blue - blur running around the train. Yes, school's starting, but more importantly: People to see! Freedom from Mum's prying eyes! Candy to give out!

And yes, Bonnibel has a lot of it. And has had a lot of it, to boot.

So it's entirely likely she will bowl you over accidentally in her rush to talk to everyone and blow off steam.]

[Ib stared at the window as the green hills rushed by. It was all really pretty, and maybe she should've been drawing them, but for once in her life she didn't feel like drawing anything at all.

It had been hard for her to say goodbye to her parents at the Platform. Despite all the magical wonders around her, all she could really focus on were her mother and father. They promised to reply to all the letters she sent, and she'd be coming home for the mid-year breaks, but really it was all so scary for her. She'd never been separated from her parents for a long period of time, and now she had boarded a train that would take her away from them for a whole school year.

A jolt in the compartment knocked her school bag open as various colour pens and her notepad fell out. Ib quickly ducked down to pick down her stuff, and her hand touched the soft fabric of a lace handkerchief. She stared at it, homesickness hitting her hard as she tried her best not to cry. She didn't want to disappoint her parents, but she really couldn't help it as the tears threatened to flow.]

[A bit of commotion surrounded Eriq when he first boarded the train. Not only did he have a standard (if not ornate) trunk to fit in the overhead spaces, he had an equally large glass terrarium containing a very large spider, and predictably, not very many people wanted to help him get that tucked away. It took some fuss, but eventually an adult was found to levitate it up into storage. After that, Eriq could be found standing on a seat, making kissy faces at the tarantula while it tapped on the glass]

[Of course, once the train started moving, Eriq needed to sit down before he lost his balance, and that was when he pulled out a book and settled down to read. There is no mistaking the cover.]

[Lovino was in a compartment by himself. The morning had been hectic with trying to get all of his siblings on board in time. While he was glad to be away from all the noise, he did wish he had a friend to sit and chat with.]
