WHEN: The day of September 2nd for the train, and at night for the feast!
WHERE: Hogwarts Express/Platform 9 3/4 and The Great Hall
WHAT: Gotta get back to Hogwarts! Back to witches and wizards and magical feasts! Students and teachers are finally heading back to school on the Hogwarts express, and with the new school year means sorting for the first years!
STATUS: Ongoing!
NOTE: There is a thread for the Train back to Hogwarts, and the Feast, with a subthread for the Sorting! First years can comment to be sorted, and everyone else can greet their new house mates/students!

[Arthur chews on his lip. His first instinct is to snap, but he knows Gamzee won't really understand why he's being shouted at. So, he's quiet for a few minutes, watching the countryside roll by. When he speaks, it's quiet]

I know you didn't mean it, but that's what friends do.

... do what? [sounding bewildered now]

Oh. [Yeah, he guesses that's true. The lanky boy sits up and leans over, grabbing Arthur's hand and squeezing it unselfconsciously, like boys just do things like this all the time.] Then thank you. But I'm really okay.

[Oh yes, boys do this kind of thing all the time. At least, Gamzee does, so it's fine. Mostly. Arthur's fingers twitch]

[laughs, his smile growing teasing] Is it so motherfuckin' hard?

[Arthur brings his other hand over both of theirs and clasps firmly]

I would be utterly amazed to even find that you are capable of lying, Gamz.

Ain't we all in the same House? I can lie. [he chuckles, though really he doesn't very much, or he lies by omission] I guess I ain't much finding that's good for friends, though, 'cause what if I get found out and then all the brothers feelings is hurt? Straight up truth is mostly better.

[He grins crookedly. Hell if he can remember how they ended up as friends but that, right there, is why he doesn't simply tolerate the younger boy]

Nah, you like me because I am motherfuckin' fine as shit, and can spin the ill rhymes, plus my sweet sense of style. [grins back, and mimes straightening non-existent lapels]

Well, they factor in somewhat as well.

[reaches up to tweak a piece of Arthur's hair, then stretches out again. It's kind of amazing how much space such a skinny kid can take up when he sprawls.] You know what, bro? I think it is going to be a good year. Like best yet.

[Arthur brushes his hair back into place - as much as one can brush hair back into place when the overall effect is so messy to begin with - then makes himself comfortable]

I hope so. I'll be glad to have William out of the way. Finally.

Yeah. [The younger boy's eyes narrow - he doesn't much like Arthur's brothers. Not even a little bit. At least not the two who beat on Arthur sometimes.] Guess nookwhiffers like that got to be going somewhere.

[He rubs a hand along his jaw and looks down at his knees. His relationship with his brothers is complicated - he honestly can't say he hates them]

Phin's in hospital right now.

[Gamzee has no such complications in his life. People who hurt his friends are on his shit list, and he hates quite easily, for such a normally cheerful kid.] For the snake thing?

[One hand rubs at the back of his neck and he huffs softly. There's some worry in his voice]

He seemed alright at first, then he got a bad headache, started getting dizzy and couldn't walk in a straight line. I suppose it was funny, at first.. it was like he was drunk. Then he was slurring his speech a bit and when he started throwing up mother took him to the hospital. Looks like he hit his head harder than we thought.

[Gamzee's face is curiously blank, his head tilted to one side as he listens. He doesn't smile, or look pleased, but he doesn't seem too worried, either.] Yeah, that kind of thing is usually from bleeding up in a motherfucker's nugbone. [And how he knows that is anyone's guess.]

You okay?

I.. guess so? He'll be fine, but.. you know. He's my brother.

I don't think I've ever seen him looking that scared.

[mo_cara]

[slides up to sit next to Arthur, pulling one knee up and peering at him] Guess you have to be loving him if he's your bro. He'll be okay, though. They fix that kind of shit all the time.

Heh, I do, you know? Bloody stupid, but.. yeah. For all the shit they do, they don't put up with anyone else doing it. I know that doesn't make it right...

[Yes, complicated. He shoots the other boy a quick, dim smile]

Feelings ain't got no right or wrongs up in 'em. [slinging an arm around Arthur's shoulders - he wouldn't be sorry at all if Phineas wound up dead, but Arthur would, and he can sort of respect that.]

[He tenses a fraction, but it's barely a twitch and gone as quickly as it appeared]
