WHEN: The day of September 2nd for the train, and at night for the feast!
WHERE: Hogwarts Express/Platform 9 3/4 and The Great Hall
WHAT: Gotta get back to Hogwarts! Back to witches and wizards and magical feasts! Students and teachers are finally heading back to school on the Hogwarts express, and with the new school year means sorting for the first years!
STATUS: Ongoing!
NOTE: There is a thread for the Train back to Hogwarts, and the Feast, with a subthread for the Sorting! First years can comment to be sorted, and everyone else can greet their new house mates/students!

[There's a large amount of croaking coming from a particular compartment about halfway down the train, noisy enough to wake a graveyard. Bilious Slick can be just as loud as his owner, who happens to be reading a new novel that he got for his birthday back in June. It's Fifty Shades of Grey. Karkat's curled up on one of the seats, knees drawn as he reads eagerly.]

[AHA. You have been found. Nepeta is currently bunked up in a different compartment but she is of course going to visit her brother and make sure he isn't lacking in company.

She slides the door open just a teeny bit and looks in, biting down a smile and waiting to see if it'll take him long to notice her.]

[It takes him a few minutes to notice, engrossed in the book as much as he was, but he was pressed against the side of the train and facing the door so once he glances over the top of his book, he sees her. With a sigh of relief, Karkat closes his book.]

I was wondering if you got on the train or not. I lost you at the station.

[She laughs and enters, closing the door behind her.]

Sorry about that. I got caught up in the crowd and then Pounce went on ahead of me.

[She plops down on the seat next to him and gives the book a curious look]

[He glances down at the novel before placing it cover-down in his lap, a small flush covering his cheeks.]

Just a book some chump gave me for my birthday. Can't remember which one but apparently since I like Twilight I'll love this one or some shit.

[She sees you trying to hide that.] OOoh? Let me see!

[At first she had only come down the carriage to explore where the croaking was coming from]

Hell-? Oh, it's just you Karkat. A new pet the-

[book spotted] Karkat, what are you reading? [tastes=judged]

[He has just enough time to lower the book and place it cover-down in his lap as an embarrassed flush covers his cheeks before he rolled his eyes.]

[It's not even the fact it's erotic, it's the fact it's that series. Porrim has taught her well yes]

Have you had a good summer then Karkat? Read any good books? [Cheeky grin]

[He gives her a pointed look before sighing.]

Summer's been okay I guess. [Aside from fighting with Gamzee, it's probably been one of the best summers in a while. He rolls his eyes a little.] You caught me. Some chump gave this to me for my birthday because I like Twilight. I'm not sure if they were mocking me or what.

[Oh man. Is that what she thinks you're reading?]

I wasn't aware that the novel in your hand is something you would be interested in. I have not gotten my hands on it, but perhaps you can give me a review as to what you think of it.

[Except Rose probably would burn it if someone even gave her a copy.]

[He jumps when he hears Rose's voice, a small flush crossing his cheeks when he sees her (it had been a good part and he'd been engrossed in it, damnit!). What was up with everyone getting in his face about reading this book anyway? He raises an eyebrow at her before rolling his eyes.]

I'm surprised you haven't read it yet, Lalonde. I'm only reading it because some chump gave it to me on my birthday back in June and I hadn't gotten around to it on my summer reading list. [He shrugs.] Let's just say there's probably better porn on the internet.

[Your taste in literature proceeds to be horrendous, Karkat. I hope you realize that Rose silently judges everything you read.]

My taste in literature is a little higher up the chart than Fifty Shades of Grey, I hope you realize. I read many reviews and fine essays about the book when I was interested in picking it up. The reviews were all over the place, but I can honestly say that I don't think I'm missing much when I admit to never picking up a copy.

I think you've caught a case of the ribbets. You should see a doctor.

Nah, I'm just waiting to croak. Don't have to spend any money that way.

[He rolls his eyes before gesturing to the giant frog in the glass habitat across from him.]

It's just Bilious Slick. He croaks loud enough to wake the dead. [The bags under Karkat's eyes prove it, thanks to the lack of sleep since obtaining the frog.]

_{[Dirk glances from the toad to Karkat and back.]}

Maybe you shouldn't keep him in the same room you sleep in?

[He rubs the back of his neck]

It's not like it would matter. He's a pretty loud guy.

[Shira overhears the croaking as he passes through the aisle and turns to investigate. Spotting Karkat, he offers him a strained sort of smile and a tentative wave. ]

[By this time, Karkat's given up on trying to read with other people interrupting him and made up with Gamzee. When he sees Shinra, he bites his lip and waves back a little awkwardly.]

[Shinra stands there for a moment before giving Karkat a courteous sort of nod -so as to acknowledge the other boy's wave- and continuing in his way. ]

[strongjumps]

[ Equius, during his adventure through the train, passes by this compartment in particular just as a croak creeps past the door to get his attention. ]

Karkat.

[ And then Equius invites himself into the little room. He's standing there, arms crossed, staring at that book that he doesn't recognize. His face shows he doesn't know what to make of it. Fifty Shades of Gray sure is an ambiguous title. ]

I did not know you could read.

[selfhatred]

[Karkat looks up from his book and eyes Equius with a slight distaste. Nepeta's friend had always rubbed him the wrong way but it wasn't exactly something he could change her mind about. He just put up with it, which he guessed he'd have to do now.]

I'm not president of the book club for nothing, Zahhak. Being able to read is kind of a requirement. [He purses his lips together.] What the fuck are you doing in my compartment? Nepeta's not here.

[strongjumps]

[ Equius chuckles. ]

It does not take literacy to be able to shout about the characters of some story. For all I know, you simply facilitate discussion and have no idea what the books are actually about.

[ And then he shrugs at the question, giving a few seconds to get Karkat just that little bit more riled up. ]

I heard the croaking of your little pet. It is really quite bothersome. But I saw that you were reading something that was not a textbook. It aroused my curiosity.

[selfhatred]

'Fraid you're going to have to put up with it. [A shrug.] Bilious Slick can't be quieted by anything, not even a muffliato charm. Dad tried.

[He raises an eyebrow before an evil idea came into mind. He handed the book over.]

Why don't you borrow it and see for yourself if you're so curious? I just finished before you came in and I think it'll be right up your alley, Zahhak.

[To add to all of the other people who've been bugging him, let's go for someone a bit different. Eridan had decided to take a walk after a while, and it's safe to say the croaking got him curious to see who's pet it belonged to. As he closed in on the compartment, he could only give a small sigh and stand in the doorway. ]

... And here I thought Caligula made a lot of noise.
