School Year Starting Logs: Train + Feast/Sorting!

WHEN: The day of September 2nd for the train, and at night for the feast!
WHERE: Hogwarts Express/Platform 9 3/4 and The Great Hall
WHAT: Gotta get back to Hogwarts! Back to witches and wizards and magical feasts! Students and teachers are finally heading back to school on the Hogwarts express, and with the new school year means sorting for the first years!
STATUS: Ongoing!
NOTE: There is a thread for the Train back to Hogwarts, and the Feast, with a subthread for the Sorting! First years can comment to be sorted, and everyone else can greet their new house mates/students!

[Arthur will usually look for a compartment by himself, though he (usually) won't object to company. As it is, he doesn't have any yet, and is sitting by himself next to the window, looking out of it as the train moves through the countryside. He's not yet changed into his uniform, wearing a white t-shirt and a pair of slightly worn jeans, and has a small bag next to him, between himself and the side of the train.

Anyone who has seen Arthur on the train before will know that he always brings a large amount of sweets with him, and he's currently picking from a bag of what are most certainly Muggle sweets - a gift from his aunt

Generally, he's not fussy about sharing. It makes for a good conversation starter]

The first thing he does is make sure Loki's brother isn't behind him, then lifts a hand in a small wave]

Gamzee, what the-- I've told you about sneaking up on me like that! You're lucky you didn't end up with my elbow shoved somewhere delicate.

Pretty sure there ain't nothing being delicate anywhere on me, it's all good. [thoughtfully, then digs in his pocket and pulls out a twist of green paper, which he holds out to Arthur]

[He's admittedly somewhat hesitant about taking anything from Gamzee, but he does, eyeing the twist of paper suspiciously]

What kind of interesting sweets have you brought on board this time? [Rose was always highly curious of what concoctions Muggles make. It's just a plus that they tend to be rather delicious too.]

Have you read any good novels over the Summer?

[He smiles a little and sits up a bit straighter when Rose appears, pulling the bag from between himself and the side of the compartment and setting it on the seat next to him. Being a Pureblood, it might be unexpected for him to have so many Muggle sweets, but he'd blame it all on Victoria. He'd never know about them it if wasn't for her]

The usual. Flying Saucers, Refreshers, Cola bottles and some of those fizzy ones that taste like bubblegum. Some different kinds of jelly sweets. Interested? It'll cost you.

[Except it won't. He looks up and smiles crookedly]

A good choice! I did not get to spend as much time reading as I would have hoped, so I am behind on the current list of fascinating fiction. I have a few stored in my trunk, so I look forward to the free time we'll have during the term.

Good to see you again Arthur. Don't mind if I take a seat for awhile? I'm in Banner's compartment, but Maxim's in there and trying to play tackle rugby with'im. It's hard to concentrate on reading.

[He shifts, as if to make room, though there's really no need, and lets out a quiet snort at what the other boy says]

[That's more of a loaded question than Greg realises. He twists his lips and his brow furrows in a faint scowl as he glances out of the window]

[Alfred's seen Arthur on the train for at least one trip, so he knows about the candy.

That's not the reason he's looking for Arthur though. Of course not. At least...not the whole reason. Eventually he comes across the other teen's compartment, and sliiiides the door open slowly. He just had to be cool. Yep. Use some of that charm.

[He looks over when the door opens, then scowls faintly. Their previous altercations on the train have never been particularly amicable - in the very least a trading of insults before they parted ways - but Arthur is hardly strong enough to be able to push the larger boy out by force... and he gets the feeling he's not going to leave voluntarily]

... Yes, but I suppose you're going to come in anyway.

[He could, but he's pushing the door open a little more so he can slide in with his bag. He doesn't need everyone knowing he's being sweet on Arthur, not this early in the year. First day? Hell to the no.]

[He doesn't even bother to reply to that. Arthur knows full well that Alfred isn't going to leave and it's only confirmed when the other boy starts working his way into the compartment. Not about to get up and help he waits until Alfred's managed his way in and shut the door before he speaks again]

Phineas is in hospital.
