WHEN: The day of September 2nd for the train, and at night for the feast!
WHERE: Hogwarts Express/Platform 9 3/4 and The Great Hall
WHAT: Gotta get back to Hogwarts! Back to witches and wizards and magical feasts! Students and teachers are finally heading back to school on the Hogwarts express, and with the new school year means sorting for the first years!
STATUS: Ongoing!
NOTE: There is a thread for the Train back to Hogwarts, and the Feast, with a subthread for the Sorting! First years can comment to be sorted, and everyone else can greet their new house mates/students!

... Huh? [Gamzee takes a few steps closer, his hands itching to reach out and grab Karkat, pull him in for a hug, press his face to that mess of hair.] What're you all talking about?

[It's not that Gamzee has completely forgotten their argument ... but it's just not top of mind right now. He's much more focused on the other boy himself, worried that the Gryffindor's mad at him.]

[He looks like he hasn't gotten a lot of sleep since Gamzee last saw him, heavy bags under his eyes. His new pet frog in part and a lot of things on his mind keeping him awake. Karkat crosses his arms defensively over his chest, hunching in on himself before rubbing under his nose with sleeve of his hoodie.]

I'm an idiot. I got jealous because you were spending so much time with Kishitani and Jaeger that I let it get the better of me and I screwed up so fucking badly on that journal post... [Breathe, Karkat. His fingers clench a little in his hair.] I was too emotionally invested in myself to pay attention to whether or not it might've hurt you. I can understand if you don't want to be friends anymore. Believe me, I wouldn't want to be friends with me after fucking up like that. [He sucks in a breath.] I'm an asshole and I don't deserve any forgiveness.

[mo_cara]

[Gamzee just blinks at him for a few moments. Oh. Huh. Then he takes the last few steps to Karkat and finally allows himself to wrap his long arms around the smaller form, pulling the other boy up against his lean chest. He smells the way he always does, though with a particularly off mishmash of herbal tang and floral scents, and the crinkle of paper.]

Motherfucker [the Slytherin starts solemnly] you're about the only dude who would act like I would all up and stop being your friend, who would really think I'm such a douchebag that I'd completely abandon you for chickenshit like that. And I ain't even mad about you thinkin' that, cause I know you. Now take a motherfuckin' chill pill and mellow the fuck out, best friend.

[The smaller Gryffindor hunches his shoulders as he feels arms wrap around him before breathing a sigh of relief. Tension leaves his shoulders as he reaches up, wrapping his fingers in Gamzee's shirt since his arms have never gone all the way around the other boy's shoulders. It felt good to be hugged like this again, way more than Karkat would ever admit, and he doesn't have to ask if they're still friends like he usually does with Sollux. The best friend is all the confirmation he needs. He's quiet for a minute before he speaks.]

Seriously, if I start acting like a jackass again just slap me around the head or something. I've got no right to dictate what you do or blame someone like I did. Merlin knows I've screwed up more times than I can count so I shouldn't be one to judge.

[mo_cara]

Pretty hard to slap a brother through a book. [points out gently, nuzzling through Karkat's hair, then resting his cheek against the top of the smaller boy's head] ... you ain't got no call to be jealous of nobody. Do you got the knowing of that? You're my best friend. I love Maxim and I love Shinra, but it's different, they're different kinds of friends. Ain't no one the same as you.

[selfhatred]

We're going to be in the same vicinity for the next ten months, doofus. [He tilts his head up into the nuzzle before sighing.] I know. I just got annoyed and I was worried about you getting into trouble and that you wouldn't want to be friends with a lame jerk like me anymore.

[mo_cara]

We ain't never gonna not be friends. [firmly, with the conviction of the young and optimistic] Get any other idea out of your pan, bro.

[selfhatred]

[He sighs again, if only to stop himself from rambling on.]

Okay.

[mo_cara]

Where you sitting, best friend? A motherfucker has got to get his cuddle on, you know?

[selfhatred]

[Karkat gives a small smile.]

Just down the car, where the croaking's coming from. I got a pet frog over the holidays.

[mo_cara]

I read about that. [And there's a brief strain to Gamzee's smile - it had been hard not to say anything, not to talk to his best friend.] You best be introducing me to this leafy bro!

[selfhatred]

[He notices the strain in his smile and feels bad all over again.]

I just saw him and kind of...it was like it was meant to be, y'know? He's about as stubborn and loud as I am.

[mo_cara]

I don't know, that sounds pretty motherfuckin' disbelievable. [teasingly]

[selfhatred]

[Karkat rolls his eyes and shoves Gamzee good naturedly.]

Somewhere out there there's a guy who's a bigger asshole than me. It's possible.

[mo_cara]

That is a lot of shit what got be spilled from one that size. [Gamzee snort-honks a laugh, sort of fluidly going with the shove, like a cat, and then rebounds to wrap an arm around Karkat again.]
