School Year Starting Logs: Train + Feast/Sorting!

WHEN: The day of September 2nd for the train, and at night for the feast!
WHERE: Hogwarts Express/Platform 9 3/4 and The Great Hall
WHAT: Gotta get back to Hogwarts! Back to witches and wizards and magical feasts! Students and teachers are finally heading back to school on the Hogwarts express, and with the new school year means sorting for the first years!
STATUS: Ongoing!
NOTE: There is a thread for the Train back to Hogwarts, and the Feast, with a subthread for the Sorting! First years can comment to be sorted, and everyone else can greet their new house mates/students!

It won't be long. I mean, it cannot be to long, right? I forgot to ask how long the train ride was!

There must be a faster way than by train.

I read that you can't use Floo at school, but why couldn't we just floo to a place closer and then get there somehow?

Floo is so tricky though. What if someone said the wrong name? I suppose they'd have to spend days every year going after at least one muggleborn who got nervous and mispronounced the destination.

Flying carpets perhaps?

True. But I don't think carpets would work unless you can make them invisible. And the people riding on them. We don't live in Aladdin. People would notice and get freaked out.

Where is Aladdin? I have never heard of this place before.

...Oh right. It's a movie. The setting is a place called Agrabah, but I think it's supposed to be in the Arabian Peninsula or something? Anyway, the hero, Aladdin, has a magic carpet he rides on.

Normal muggle trains go faster than this. I think they just like making us impatient.
