WHEN: The day of September 2nd for the train, and at night for the feast!
WHERE: Hogwarts Express/Platform 9 3/4 and The Great Hall
WHAT: Gotta get back to Hogwarts! Back to witches and wizards and magical feasts! Students and teachers are finally heading back to school on the Hogwarts express, and with the new school year means sorting for the first years!
STATUS: Ongoing!
NOTE: There is a thread for the Train back to Hogwarts, and the Feast, with a subthread for the Sorting! First years can comment to be sorted, and everyone else can greet their new house mates/students!

[Welp, she's seen him. Nothing to do but stand up and take it like a man.]

[Straightening himself up again, he removes his hat, bowing his head to her]

Rapunzel. Iz... goot to see hyu again.

Listen, Maxim, I... Can we talk?

[She sits, herself, and sighs again.]

[at that, he completely deflates, shaking his head at her] Dollink, iz not....

Hy ken't... [He whines softly, worrying his lip with his teeth as he struggles with words]

Hy chust don' know. Van makes me heppy, iz true. But zo do hyu, und zo do zo many odder pipple. Hy cannot help it, Hy chust get caught op in de vun Hy em vit, iz like? Hy do not tink Hy luff him more dan hyu, or anybody elze. Iz chust... Hy luff him different. Hy deed not mean to mislead hyu t all.

[hairflyingheartpounding]

Oh.

Oh, Maxim, that sounds... Confusing. I'm sorry.

[She moves across the car, sitting next to him.]

Listen, it's okay. I mean, you just work things out and do what feels right. I'll be fine. And you didn't -- Well, you did, you mislead be, but I guess I might have... Thought too much of what you were saying. You know?

Iz not confuzink, iz verra simple! [He nods enthusiastically, leaning in towards her] Mebbe not for odders, but iz for me! Iz like... iz like a puppy, yah? Hyu iz right here vit me, und hyu make me zo heppy, und Hy luff hyu und Hy vould protect hyu from all de bad tings!

[he pauses, reaching out to gently tuck a bit of hair behind her ear, biting his lip]

But becauze iz zo simple, becauze Hy iz zo simple, Hy do not alvays tink. Hy chust feel it, und Hy say tings... tings vit many meaninks to odder pipple. Iz t'oughtlessness, on my part. But Hy svear to hyu, Rapunzel, no matter how t'oughtless Hy em... Hy alvays mean effery vurd Hy say. Hy vould neffer purposely lie, or mislead hyu.

[hairflyingheartpounding]

[She blushes at his action, but keeps listening intently.]

I think I see... It would confuse me, though, if it were me. And it's sad for me, that it's you. Because I like you, Maxim, and I don't like that we can't be together like I want.

...But I'm also happy that you want to be my knight. That's sweet. You're sweet, and I hope we can be really good friends.

[Whiiine]

[This whole conversation is awful for him, because she's being so sweet and understanding and nice and just wishes he was half the man she seems to think he is. And he really wants to TRY to be that person! Because she really deserves a prince and not a bloodstained knight like him. She didn't even KNOW about that part of him, and he hoped it stayed that way.]

[Not to mention Van. Gosh, Van. Everyone keeps reminding him about Van and it drives him crazy. He wishes he could just put it back the way things were. It was easy then, now it's such a big to do, blugh. No matter how he acts about it, if it had been up to him, he would have preferred that it had stayed on the down low.]

[Of course, Rapunzel is not privy to his internal monologue, so all she gets is Maxim squirming and whining and digging his nails into his palms before he finally gives up and flops onto her lap with a wail]

VHY IZ DIS ZO HARD? HY CHUST VANT TO LUFF ALL DE PIPPLE, IZ DOT ZO WRONG?

[hairflyingheartpounding]

MAX! Max!

[She shushes him gently and pets his hair.]

I don't know if I'd say wrong, but it's... Different. It's different from the way a lot of people think and feel. But you'll find someone -- someones -- who understand it.

[He quiets down immediately, nuzzling her stomach with a whimper]

Hy em chust zo zorry Hy ken't luff hyu like hyu vant! Iz not fair! Hyu dezerf all de luff, all ov it!

[Well that's kind of awkwardly pleasant.]
