School Year Starting Logs: Train + Feast/Sorting!

WHEN: The day of September 2nd for the train, and at night for the feast!
WHERE: Hogwarts Express/Platform 9 3/4 and The Great Hall
WHAT: Gotta get back to Hogwarts! Back to witches and wizards and magical feasts! Students and teachers are finally heading back to school on the Hogwarts express, and with the new school year means sorting for the first years!
STATUS: Ongoing!
NOTE: There is a thread for the Train back to Hogwarts, and the Feast, with a subthread for the Sorting! First years can comment to be sorted, and everyone else can greet their new house mates/students!

So would you want to treat both muggles and wizards?

As far as I can tell, there's very little difference physically. Though that would take further research to ascertain.

I think the magic part would be the only difference. Otherwise, it wouldn't make sense for there to be so many muggle-borns, even if magical genes are recessive.

That's a very simplified view of how genes and alleles function. But I suppose you're a first year, so you can't be expected to know any better. [peering at him briefly] Pureblood?

I haven't researched it into more detail. Mechatronics is more interesting to me.

I'm a Muggle-born, actually.

Oh, inorganic, hm. [narrows his eyes, then shrugs] You'll likely be Sorted into Ravenclaw, then, if you have a serious interest in that sort of thing, and know what you're talking about. If you're only a hobbyist, though, who knows.

I think for the limited opportunity I've had to learn about it, I know a lot. I think it'd be really cool to build robots and stuff. Like, to make them legitimately sentient. I'll admit that I still have a lot to learn, though. I can't consider myself an expert when I haven't had ample time to study all the different dynamics.

Yeah, I think this might happen, but I'd rather be sorted into Gryffindor.
