Should've known. Stop me if you've heard this one before.

[She crosses her legs at the ankle before taking hold of her guitar again and plucking a couple of strings.]

You know those stories about whirlwind summer romances? Well, I thought I'd found the perfect guy. His name was Ash...you know the type. Tall, dark, handsome. Didn't really matter at the time that he was a vampire or that he was kind of a jerk. I didn't care about any of that. Of course, now that I know better it might've been the kind of glamour or hypnotism some vampires use.

[She pauses and continues.] My band and I got a gig at the Leaky Cauldron and...well, we got into a fight because I wanted to talk to my friends after the show. Jerk turned me then and there, I left after a couple of lessons but not without kicking him where it hurt.

Ah, yes. Summer romance can really catch us off guard. But I'm sure everyone has told you that you could do so much better. I would be offended on your part if you didn't make sure you didn't get him where it hurt before absconding.

It sounds you had an interesting Summer though. It sounds like things will be fairly difficult for you. Have you contacted staff about other alternatives to protect you from the sun? [It's not like she cares. She just doesn't want your learning experience to be dampened because of some idiot who couldn't keep his bite in check.] I can't imagine walking about with a hat on a daily basis is very fun.

Yeah. I'd be disappointed in myself too if I hadn't. It's only because he turned me that the glamour broke. Who knows where I'd be now if it hadn't?

[She gives a small nod.]

Professor Rhydderch is going to help me out. Sunlight isn't really that good for...people as young as I am. It's only the older ones that can go out in it without feeling much for a while, because they're stronger. Covering up is the best I can do.

Probably head over heels for a man who has something too good.

[It's always hard to tell if Rose's flattery is facetious or sincere.]

Perhaps they have creams or lotions that might help? I would hope that there would be an equivalent to sunscreen, but I'm not too knowledgeable of these things. I wouldn't mind putting in some research though.
