School Year Starting Logs: Train + Feast/Sorting!

WHO: Everyone!
TONE: Anything!

WHEN: The day of September 2nd for the train, and at night for the feast!
WHERE: Hogwarts Express/Platform 9 3/4 and The Great Hall
WHAT: Gotta get back to Hogwarts! Back to witches and wizards and magical feasts! Students and teachers are finally heading back to school on the Hogwarts express, and with the new school year means sorting for the first years!
STATUS: Ongoing!
NOTE: There is a thread for the Train back to Hogwarts, and the Feast, with a subthread for the Sorting! First years can comment to be sorted, and everyone else can greet their new house mates/students!

[Loki is sharing a compartment with his brother, but mostly is wandering around the train meeting people.]

[Unfamiliar bitty spotted!]

Oh! Hi there...are you a first year?

Yes! I am Loki.

[He smiles and puts out a hand]

[She flinches at the gesture before realizing he only wants to shake hands and returns it, offering a small smile in return.]

My name is Xion...I'm a fourth year Hufflepuff. But...I remember what it was like being on the train the first time, anticipating arriving at Hogwarts and getting sorted.

--Oh, you'll be on the boats for your first trip to Hogwarts. Don't worry about the squid, okay? It's actually very friendly and makes sure students don't drown. And it likes bread.

[He may hear some sniffs coming from one lonely compartment. Investigate?]

[Of course he's going to investigate! He pokes his head into said compartment.]

Hello? Are you alright?

[There's an obvious bitty rubbing her eyes in her otherwise empty compartment. She seems slightly distressed over something.]

I am s-sorry. I did not mean to disturb.

[Her accent and the slightly slower way she speaks gives her away as an ESL student.]

[Loki enters the compartment, closing the door behind him. He sits next to the fellow bitty]

It is no disturbance. Are you alright?

[She sniffs. Scattered around her are the contents of her bag, which was turned inside out.]

I can't find something. I think I left it back h-home.

[The last word is accompanied with a hiccup.]

I'm sure your parents could owl it to you.

[He isn't entirely sure what to do about the crying.]

They do not know about it.

[She looks around at the items, hoping that it's somewhere among the markers and crayons.]

If you do not mind my asking, what is it?

It is a, a li, lee, lit...I do not know how to say it!

[The last few words came bursting out before she buried her face in her hands, ashamed.]

[She swallowed her sob down and tried to describe it.]

[ Equius thinks he recognizes this boy from somewhere. But he's not sure! So he's just going to stare down a bit of the train at him for a few moments. Hopefully he doesn't scare the kid away? ]

[He feels the stare on him and turns around to see who it is. Seeing the strange boy form Diagon Alley, he smiles and waves]

[ Equius takes the wave as the kid recognizing him, so he approaches! ]

You seem... familiar. Did we meet some time last year?

We met in Diagon Alley. We ran into each other, remember?

Ah, that is correct!

[ He laughs at his error in memory. ]

Did I introduce myself? I am Equius Zahhak, a fourth year Slytherin.

[ Equius doesn't ask about the boy's house or year, in case he is a first year. He looks quite young, after all. ]

Are you excited for the year to begin?

I am Loki, a first year.

I am very excited for school to start!

I remember my first year...

[ But he surely isn't going to start talking about it. ]
