WHEN: The day of September 2nd for the train, and at night for the feast!
WHERE: Hogwarts Express/Platform 9 3/4 and The Great Hall
WHAT: Gotta get back to Hogwarts! Back to witches and wizards and magical feasts! Students and teachers are finally heading back to school on the Hogwarts express, and with the new school year means sorting for the first years!
STATUS: Ongoing!
NOTE: There is a thread for the Train back to Hogwarts, and the Feast, with a subthread for the Sorting! First years can comment to be sorted, and everyone else can greet their new house mates/students!

[There's a nervous little awkward first year wandering around the train staring at everything. And possibly trying to avoid conversation, because how does he people. He's got a hugenormous Maine Coon following him around with a blue collar and a little bell, and she periodically grabs him by the ankle of his pants and steers him away from... Booths, walls, windows. She also seems to be keeping him from literally running into anyone.]

[Ooooh! Who is this cutie first year here? He looks a bit overwelm here, he must be really nervous. Any who, feferi is going to try and be helpful and see what she can do for this first year. She approaches him slowly and waves at him.]

Hii!! Are you ok? You seem a bit overwhelmed.

[It takes him a second to look away from whatever he happens to be looking at at precisely the moment Feferi approaches him, but when he actually turns his attention to her he smiles fairly immediately. Neytiri circles around and sits primly beside him now that he's stopped moving.]

Ah-- yes. Okay, yes. Overwhelmed, also yes.

[He takes a moment to look left, then right, and hunch his shoulders in a nervous little shrug.]

There's just so many friggin' people, and they're all magical! Witches and wizards and teachers and-- It's just unreal, and a bit startling, is all.

[Feferi feels like she meet this boy before, but she can't put her finger on it, hopefully it will come before its gets to embarrassing for her. Her react to his smile, is to smile right back.]

I guess your not used to crowds in general? Although yeah it is quite startling, so many magical people are gathered in one place. I find it fascinating at the same time!

Not to scare you but once you get to Hogwarts, they going to be a lot more that's probably going to scare or shock you, i mean a good way at least!!

[Fef probably scaring him more than making him more comfortable.]

[Jake couldn't hope to keep anyone straight with who he's met and who he hasn't, but Feferi's patented brand of excitement is sort of endearing and familiar. He doesn't quite recognize her yet, though.]

Ah, not so much.

[He laughs a little.] Then I suppose I had better get used to the crowds, hmm?

Yeah, but even if crowds get overwhelming, Hogwarts is massive so it won't be to hard to be able to find your own place away from everyone. Unless of course the ghosts find you... but they can't do much at any rate!!

[She pauses a moment to think. She just can't put her finger on where she has meet him before, may as well ask.]

Oh right the house ghosts!! I remember hearing stories about them.

[He doesn't seem the slightest bit ruffled by their mention. Jake you're weird. He starts when she asks his name and colors a bit in the face.]

Oh-- bother, where are my manners. Jake English, miss! [He bows a little at the waist and holds out a hand.]

[She gives a puzzled look at first, she is kinda suprized. From the way he was speaking before she assumed he would be a muggleborn, not used to the wizard world, But not being phased by ghosts made her think differently.

Then when he says his name, feferi now remembers who he is, she gladly takes his hand and shakes it.]

Oh! I remember you! Jake, its nice to meet you in person!! I don't know if you remember me, but i am Feferi!!

[Muggleborn, yes! But his grandmother was a witch and went to Hogwarts, so he knows his stuff. His grin broadens when she gives her name.]

Oh! Yes I remember you!! We spoke briefly over the network, didn't we?

Most of the compartments look the same. I'm sure that if you settle into one of them, you won't be in one that is lower class to the other.

[Wow pretty lady where did you come from. He stammers a touch.]

Ah-- oh! N-no, that's. I'm just exploring, actually! I've never been on a locomotive such as this, you see.

[She smiles lightly.]

This is your first year, isn't it. You're going to spend the first few months being amazed at everything Hogwarts has to offer.

[He laughs a bit, sheepishly.]

[He holds out a hand.]

Jake English, miss. It's a pleasure.

Usually the train doesn't take ones breath away after the first time.

[She shakes the hand, but leans forward to place three kisses on Jake's cheeks. While she doesn't quite do it so much in London, she felt the need to at least properly introduce herself the first time.]

[He keeps his fingers on her hand, startled by her affection. He chuckles a bit, figuring it must be some kind of cultural miscommunication. She does look rather exotic, at least. When she moves back and gives her name, he smiles and bows a little at the waist, pulling her hand forward and tapping his lips to her knuckles.]

A lovely name for a lovely lady.

[Everyone has to get used to it a bit since Rose is one of the few whom didn't take the usual route in terms of schooling. She didn't want to follow in her mother's shadow!]

Now, aren't you a fine gentleman. Not many show such politeness at your age and this age. You do know how to make someone feel like a lady. It's a pleasure. [She's so out of your league, dude.]

[He chuckles a bit, scratching at the bridge of his nose.]

Well my grandmother didn't raise me to be a barbarian, that's for darn sure.

You had a good grandmother then. I have to ask though. Your accent is not quite to what I'm used too. Did you come from somewhere else previously? Hopefully, that isn't too invasive. I'm just fairly curious.

Ah, no trouble at all. I'm originally from Glasgow, but I went to live with my gram in Australia when I was but a wee thing. Lived there until a little less than a year ago, hence the unusual inflection.

Kishi-- ah, you made that network post with your friend asking about, erm-- [He lowers his voice and puts a hand to his face, as though to prevent other people from overhearing.] --about wanking. Fancy to finally meet you, sir! Jake English.

[He looks down somewhat sheepishly. ]

Ah.. Yes, that was me. I've since been informed that we're not meant to discuss that sort of thing on the journal network.

[Recognizing the name, he quickly looks back up, beaming at Jake]

You're Jake English! It's good to finally meet you too. Your grandmother went to Hogwarts, didn't she? You must be very excited! Which house do you think you'll end up in. I hope the hat puts you in Ravenclaw.

[He waves a hand.] No harm no foul as far as I'm concerned, chap.

...Ah, yes. Gram was a Ravenclaw, and I believe a Quidditch beater. It was so long ago, though, I'm surprised you remember. [He scratches the back of his neck.] I'm not so sure I'm wise enough for the prestige of Ravenclaw, my friend.

[He laughs quietly, grinning at the other boy. ]

I didn't know her personally, but you did mention her over the journals.
And from what I know, I'm sure you'd make an excellent Ravenclaw! If nothing else, you seem to have an aptitude for curiosity!

Well of course you didn't know her personally! [He laughs.] You'd be much older than you are if you did.

[He stuffs his hands into his pockets and scuffs his shoe against the ground, embarrassed.] Curiosity does not a Ravenclaw make.
