School Year Starting Logs: Train + Feast/Sorting!

WHO: Everyone!
TONE: Anything!
RATING: PG through PG-13
WHEN: The day of September 2nd for the train, and at night for the feast!
WHERE: Hogwarts Express/Platform 9 3/4 and The Great Hall
WHAT: Gotta get back to Hogwarts! Back to witches and wizards and magical feasts! Students and teachers are finally heading back to school on the Hogwarts express, and with the new school year means sorting for the first years!
STATUS: Ongoing!
NOTE: There is a thread for the Train back to Hogwarts, and the Feast, with a subthread for the Sorting! First years can comment to be sorted, and everyone else can greet their new house mates/students!

I don't usually find them too hard but with some of the subjects I don't like it can be a struggle.

[Blinks. And blinks again.]

Uncle... Dirk? [Who's that?]

I guess if you study hard enough it won't be that bad though, huh?

Oh. Oh. Right, him. Wow, he's your uncle? I thought his name was Broderick or something just because he always insists on being called 'Bro' and the like.

[Takes a moment to look at shades and smiles a bit.]

I see the resemblance.

Noooope, his name is Dirk, just like mine. I was named after him.

Yeah. I have better hair though.

[Chuckles and covers his grin with a hand.]

Of course you do. How much gel do you two go through in a week anyway? I swear, his hair could pick up a stiff wind.

Maybe a bottle? Depending upon the size, I guess. I dunno, 'cause I was pretty lazy over the summer and didn't bother doing anything if we were just staying at the flat.

You can skewer paper on his hair. I've done it before while he was sleeping and his hat was off.

[Right, he can't stop the short laugh at that because really.]

That I've got to see... except he's got that hat glued to him during school or something.

Yeah, he's got it on all the time. One day I'll find a way to hide all of his hats and paper his hair again.

He'd just transfigure his underwear into one because he'd feel naked without it. [Snorts and shakes his head.]

_{[It takes him a moment, because that's not a word he's learnt, but he figures the meaning out well enough.]}

Oh my god he really would. I'll figure something out.

I definitely will. Bonus points if I can get him away from supplementing anything for his hats for an hour.

[Chuckles, already imagining Bro looking embarrassed as hell without his hat and paper sticking to his hair.]

Awesome, I'll buy you anything from Honeydukes if you manage it.

_{[He's not sure what that is either, but he's going to graciously accept the offer.]}

Bruce takes a moment to rifle through his bag and brings out a couple of chocolate frogs he'd picked up earlier.]

Want some? I'm not sure when the trolley lady will come by...

Oh! Are the ones that move on their own? I would love one.

[Chuckles as he begins to open a box.]

The very same - though sometimes you've got to be careful since they like to hop off- Ack!

[As he says it, he opens the lid and the frog springs out right for Dirk's face.]

_{[Is there a little girl in the car? Because it certainly sound like it! Dirk manages to catch the frog only after it hits him in the face.]}

It's always so weird to eat them when they do that!

[That little scream definitely makes Bruce chortle, which he tries to hide under his hand.]

Yeah, I swear I think those frogs are the reason I'm not the biggest fan of chocolate. Still, it's good to have one or two on occasion.

_{[Dirk is just going to stare at this frog. It needs to stop moving. And he needs to forget that it leaped at his face. That just makes eating it really awkward.]}

Yeah, they would kind of kill that desire. One every now and then isn't too bad. If they don't jump away from you first!

Might want to eat it quick then.

_{[Don't mind his lack of manners as he starts to nom on the choco frog.]}

[Chuckles at the nomming, relaxing back into his seat.]
