WHAT:  After this Murdoc realised the children (and staff) of Hogwarts were in dire need of swimming lessons.
STATUS: Ongoing

[GATHER AROUND CHILDREN it's a warm summer day and the lake is perfect for diving into your sudden but inevitable deaths. You should all be dressed in your swimming trunks (which you clearly have don't even lie) because Murdoc sure is. He's determined to conduct this in the best manner he can, though he wasn't quite expecting the turn out to be so large. People who can swim are welcome to become his assistants because he could probably use the help.]

[Maxim will swim later. Right now, he's simply standing by the lake in naught but his tight little blue speedo, hips cocked, examining his nails and basically making sure everyone in the area sees him.]

[Prior to this amazing arrangement, a nice little scuffle with a certain Slytherin girl. As much as he would have enjoyed getting more hits in, he ended up walking away (or uh limping away, if you're going by technical terms) from the scuffle with a nice black eye, broken pair of glasses, a ton of scratches, and some nice bruising to go along with it.

Did that stop him from not trying to show up late to this terrible travesty? Oh no, he wouldn't miss out on watching people look stupid. Even if he was hurting real bad right now Especially since he just got done looking stupid himself.

Anyways hi don't mind this fool he's sort of just sitting himself out away from the pack with his bad eye not facing towards anyone right now, nor is he going to change just yet. Yep, there should be no attention drawn towards the freckled kid without his glasses on and not trying to communicate with anyone. This is a completely good idea, he thinks anyways.]

[Herbert has made a very horrifying discovery over the summer: he is no longer completely immune to the lures of the human body as anything other than a subject for experimentation. Even more awful, this sudden and humiliating ability to be attracted to others seems to have settled squarely on the male gender.

Thus he is out by the lake, trying desperately to pretend he isn't watching the various boys (and one quite fine specimen of a man) splashing around in the water in very little clothing. Thick glasses help, as does the huge book he has in his lap - he's just doing homework. Really. HONEST.]

[Aranea is ready for this! Hair tied back in a braid, well fitting blue one piece and all that and a lot of enthusiasm. Sure she's already quite a good swimmer, but she sees this as a chance to help other students out, and help Murdoc by keeping some of them in line as best she can.

Just please ignore the fact that her swimsuit gives away everything her robes would cover ie; boobs.]

[Sybille is there, of course. She wouldn't not be there, because she needs to see Murdoc make a fool of himself. Of course, she's not just going to sit and watch. That would be boring.

She's standing in water up to her ankles, wearing a simple black and blue two-piece and tying her hair up. It's the least amount of clothing she's worn in public for a while, and now you can see all the scars you never knew your Charms professor had.

[Eriq is amoung the few who have elected not to swim, but showed up anyway. A blue and green parasol was planted into the ground behind him, and with his thick leather knee-high boots with buckles all up the side, a black trench coat with its high collar turned up, it was pretty obvious that he didn't intend to got anywhere near the water. Instead, he was hunched over a blue leather-bound journal, charcoal pencil in hand, lips caught in his teeth as he drew. He glanced up often, eyes darting from one person to the next, scrutinizing them closely before committing them to paper]

[She's not here to swim, but the lake is very pretty with the sunlight shining off it. It's nearly like a picture out of a fairytale book. So Ib is happily drawing out what she sees, content to be by herself underneath the shelter of a tree. So long as there were other people around, she wouldn't be worried about being alone.]

[Marshall is not swimming. In fact he's pretty covered up and is wearing a hat and aviators. He's also carrying his guitar. If he's not swimming he's going to flirt with everyone be social at least. He sits down in the shade under a tree and begins to play.]

[Swimming? Heck yeah! Coraline unceremoniously drops her stuff off at the edge of the water and runs down the dock cheering and promptly cannonballs in.]

[Coulson's just there for guard duty; with the huge number of students around, Donoghue might find it difficult to control all of them. Not that he doubted his colleague's teaching skills, but between swimming lessons and ensuring no one was up to too much mischief, Coulson was pretty sure that extra help would not go amiss.

He's not going anywhere near swimming trunks though. Dressed in a black trench coat, long pants and a shirt, the only bit of summer wear he has are the shades. Still, he's out and about just to make sure the students don't misbehave.]

BY THE LAKE

[Victoria sits by the edge of the lake, hugging her legs as she looks at the water in a well fitting yet very modestly covering soft blue bathing suit, her hair up in a bun. She's watching the water with a poorly hidden apprehension. She's never swum before.]

[Tony's stretched out on a towel wearing his sunnies and red trunks with his hands behind his head, enjoying what sun has managed to grace Hogwarts with it's presence.]

[Nepeta is not in the lake, not is she by it. In fact she's kiiinda as far away from it as you can get while still being within the vicinity of the crowd. She knows she's going to have to get her butt over there sometime but. SIGH. She's not really all that fond of swimming--especially since...she doesn't know how to.]

[He's not going to swim. Nope. N o p e. And that has nothing to do with the fact that he actually never learned how to. Besides, he doesn't have any swimming trunks. On account of not being able to swim.

That doesn't mean he doesn't enjoy being around people, however, especially if the majority of them are too caught up in their own business to bother him. A lot can be learned by simply watching people, after all.

So, Arthur's stood by the edge of the lake, arms folded loosely and eyes faintly narrowed as he just.. quietly observes]

[Shinra has decided that as far as defending oneself against the lake goes, the best course of action is to avoid the lake entirely, so he will not be swimming.

However, he can't help but feel just a little morbidly curious about this swimming endeavor. So, he's going to lurk a few paces away from the edge of the lake and observe. Don't mind him.]

[Feferi is already a confident swimmer, so she is mainly come along just to get the opportunity to swim really, not that she spent most of her summer, at the lake by her home. So she is sitting they now, trying to dry her hair off. Oh boy thiiiiis is going to take forever.]

So she's a few feet away, sitting down and watching them be stupid. It's pretty cathartic. But she has absolutely no intention of learning how to swim. She doesn't need to. Or want to. Fuck that.]

But being mediocre enough to not be at risk of death is not good enough for him, so he takes a breath and floats face-down instead, letting himself dangle in the murky, cold lake water, trying to look as much like a corpse as he can.]

[So this is probably the worst idea he ever had, but it's earlier in the morning and Murdoc is here at the lake in his trunks ready to teach Rhys how to swim.

Far be it from him to let something like Rhys and his terrifying personality stop him from having a sense of superiority over him.

[The older man shows up right on time, strolling out from the direction of the castle in a pair or swimming trunks that are much more modest that Murdoc's - something more similar to board shorts, fitting at the waist, but loose to about the knees in black and purple. Perhaps surprisingly to anyone who's never seen the man shirtless, he has a powerful upper body. Not sculpted, the way, say, Strider is, but thick through the arms, broad shoulders, a heavy chest. It's a body one only gets after a lot of hard work, and not the kind at the gym where individual muscle groups are honed to a specific shape. He's got a fair amount of black hair on his chest and arms, too - he's really not the kind of fellow, unlike most of the other male teachers here, who would appeal to 14 year old girls (or boys). There's a towel around his neck, which he sets down when he reaches Murdoc, and smiles, pushing his hair back.]

You showed up. I was wondering if you actually would.

[The next day, in the prefect's bathroom. He's there. In his trunks. Regretting every choice he ever made for the millionth time.

[So. He's had some time to really, seriously think about this and whether or not it's a good idea. For once, he could be caught in his lie and then Murdoc would just be pissy.

Considering the fact he had shown up, he'd decided that Murdoc was just always pissy about one thing or another.

Because of the fact he'd been a prefect at one time, he knew how to get into the prefect's bathroom easily. He entered it and stepped over the cool marble floor. He was in orange swimming trunjs, with his white polo pulled on so that he wasn't walking around the castle all exposed and stuff. Because y'know, that'd get him fired or something.

It's probably a good thing he didn't decide to wear the speedo.]
