Holiday Ghost Event: Ten (or another amount) Years Later

WHERE: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
WHAT: Due to visiting holiday ghosts, some students and staff find themselves living as their future selves. How did some of these kids and teachers turn out? Only time can tell.

[Sherlock had forgotten what it was like to sleep alone. There were times when it happened but generally one either went to sleep or woke up with a furnace of flesh at one's side.

One didn't generally wake back up in the boyhood dormitory.

Getting his bearings, he headed to the Hufflepuff dorms to see if his Boswell was in a similar state. Something was afoot at Hogwarts.]

[ooc - Sherlock is 30, same age as in season 2 with much the same past. He works mostly with muggle crimes but has solved a thing or too back home.]

[Tony watches him approach, a mug in his hand. In just a shirt and trousers, if one looks close enough you can see his chest has a faint glowing circle underneath the shirt. He raises an eyebrow. Not really surprised that Sherlock was rushing off somewhere, though he feels slightly unnoticed.]

Is there ever a time you're not rushing around?

[Sherlock almost slid to a stop over the stone as he glanced then glanced harder in Tony's direction.]

You're not allowed to be older than me. What are you doing?

[arrogantalloy]

[Tony can't help but look amused at this.]

Well other than being older than you, I was just coming back from a coffee. Why? Are we jealous?

And you still haven't changed. What an egotistical pain in the backside you are.

[He smiled a little at him.]

If I'm jealous it's simply because you look more like a pirate than I ever have. What's the LED for?

[arrogantalloy]

[He taps the reactor over the shirt.]

This 'LED' is proof I've kind of had to change. It's keeping me alive.

[That takes him slightly aback. He hadn't exactly tried to keep in touch with Tony but somehow they never quite lost touch either.]

Bit flashy for a pace maker.

[John had woken up disoriented as well. Suddenly waking up alone in a room he hadn't slept in in around 15 years can do that to a person. He may or may not have been so startled that he fell out of the bed he'd been sleeping in.

He'd set out from the Hufflepuff dorms as soon as possible, trying to keep to the fastest route to Ravenclaw Tower. Fortunately, he spotted who he was looking for about halfway between the two dormitories.]

Sherlock!

[He waved and trotted over.]

I thought we'd be exempt from this kind of thing once we graduated.

[He glanced around, squinting at castle he hadn't been to in years.] Guess the castle was feeling nostalgic for its old chew-toys.

[Sherlock felt no small amount of relief but kept it tucked down inside. John had indeed been affected and it seemed to be his John. That made things much, much easier. Less tedious explanations.]

More than just our desired return to its halls but a specific draw to the time as well. It's an interesting choice for a random reunion. The affected seem randomly pulled as well.

So you think it is random, then? [He leans in closer, and continues in a quiet voice.] Or should I be on the lookout for other members of the Order?

[Sherlock scowls. He knows the Order is likely right and that war will soon be upon them again but...]

Must you be in such a hurry to run off into battle? It's just Hogwarts. Fourteen years ago given my room. It's not of any strategical value to any Death Eater timeline wise. General wariness will do.

I'm not having the Order And My Safety Therein argument again. You know why I'm a member and why I'll fight when it comes to it. [He pauses for a second.] If. If it comes to it.

So you think we're here because of a fluke?

It wouldn't be an argument if it was an 'if'.

And yes, I do. Honestly, I doubt you and I are even from exactly the same point in time. Close enough but for argument's sake let's just keep it simply that random students being taken from random points in time and put in place of their childhood selves of this time is hardly the work of a dark wizard.

[He'll pass a bloody Herbert West in the halls, looking disheveled and frazzled, and who'll pull up short when he sees Sherlock.] Oh, hell, is it all of us now?

[Sherlock almost didn't recognize the man--almost. Really that expression and state of being could only belong to one person he remembered.]

West. Hm. Well, certainly seems like some kind of impromptu reunion.

I wish someone had bloody well asked, first! [sighs] Have you seen anyone else, then? I ran into Stark, earlier.

Just Stark thus far. And several people I don't know or never cared to remember. I'm rather surprised I didn't delete you. Guess it would have left too many holes.

Delete me? [Huh?]

You're looking for Bruce I imagine.

[Moriarty had still been in his strange Arithmancy research kick, one book tucked under his arm with another open as he walked. Dark eyes were dancing over the writing and flickering up every now and then, to check where he was no doubt.

When he wonders past Sherlock he doesn't even spare the other a passing glance, instead flipping the pages. He obviously has gotten annoyed by the overly friendly librarian's presence.]

[Sherlock had already had his plotting conversation with John but somehow he was still surprised at how easy it was to find Jim. Time had not changed him by much but it was still obviously the younger boy and not his current adversary.

It didn't really change much. And sadly he wasn't all that surprised at how easy it was to accept a desire to murder a somewhat innocent teenager.

He walked up behind him.]

Hello, Jim.

[Jim looked up and almost stopped when he turned to see the other. The air about Sherlock immediately gave Jim a bad vibe, but he wasn't sure why, well he was: the aggressive way he held himself gave it away.]

Oh, Erm, you're- the castle is doing silly things again?

[A smile.]

Not a kid this time, it seems. I'm sure it'll be over in a couple days, no reason to investigate it.

[Someone was trying awfully hard to ignore that Sherlock - his best friend - looked old enough to be his dad.]

No, certainly not. Wouldn't be worth the effort in the slightest seeing as the castle is wont to do all sorts of pointless things.

I'm not, however.

[He stared at him for a moment then inclined his chin towards the ceiling.]

The old spot. One hour.

I'm sort of busy, what's this about?

[Something flashed across his face but it was gone immediately. He tilted his head to the side, curiosity making itself known.]

Are you alright?

[not_a_hero]

Too busy for an old friend?

[He forced a small smile. The sight of Jim made his stomach feel stone cold and heavy.]
