WHAT: Due to visiting holiday ghosts, some students and staff find themselves living as their future selves. How did some of these kids and teachers turn out? Only time can tell.

I saw him just last month. [which isn't a no] Out of curiosity, how old are you? Stark was quite a bit, but you're more difficult to tell.

Nearly 30. Perhaps I'll grow a beard as well when I become an old man. Seems the wizarding trend.

You're.. what, 40? Or is it just the sourpuss expression that ages you?

[pause] I'm 29. Your observational skills have slipped, Holmes. [dryly]

You mistake a slight for an error.

[Smirk. Hasn't really missed you but ah, for old time's sake.]

[preanimator]

[snorts] Oh, an insult to my appearance, very original. [shakes his head, and one thing has certainly changed - he seems to shrug off slights much more easily] I expected more from you, though really, I'm not sure why.

[not_a_hero]

Hard to pretend to be a mature adult when you're suddenly back in your boyhood.

I never missed this place. Or any of you, really. You seem to be well established at any rate.

[preanimator]

Something like that. Are you? [No sense in not being the minimum level of polite, anyway.] I've been out of the country for some time.

[not_a_hero]

Only consulting detective in the world. Quite a bit of press building. So yes.

You manage to reanimate the dead yet? I fully expect to have the pleasure of blaming you for a zombie apocalypse.

[preanimator]

[gives him a dubious look] There's honestly no other detective in the world who does consultations? [That seems a bit bunk to him, but he's not exactly an expert on law enforcement.] Hm.

[Then a small, pleased smile curls up his lips, and his eyes light up, though his answer is not terribly forthcoming with details.] And I've had some success, yes.

I don't work for the police. I work for myself. It's commonly the police who in fact consult me. Rather nice to see them all so humble and desperate sometimes.

[He leans back on his heels.]

Some success as in you reanimated it and it didn't stick or some success it works but only on rats for now?

[preanimator]

There are minor obstacles, and some kinks that need to be worked out, but I've successfully reanimated much more than rats. I'm very close to perfect my formula now ...

What is it exactly that you're hoping to achieve? Immortality?

[preanimator]

In a way, though that's more of a side effect of the process. Not true immortality, of course, but certainly much great longevity. [smiles faintly] I wish to conquer death. It's mankind's last, greatest hurdle.

Should have known you were out to spoil all my fun.

[preanimator]

I suppose it would be less interesting to question a murder victim than to examine the body yourself.
