WHAT: Due to visiting holiday ghosts, some students and staff find themselves living as their future selves. How did some of these kids and teachers turn out? Only time can tell.

I'm starting to get the feeling that arguing with you about this any more is an uphill battle.

Can you at least promise me that you'll do your damndest to stay alive? It's looking like that's all I can ask for.

Well, that and joint ventures are much easier to deal with than consistent forgery.

Got to admit, when it came time to signing the certificate, I half-expected to see you'd already signed my name for me.

No, just on the documents Mycroft hasn't threatened to nullify if certified without your knowing concent. Don't bother asking which ones that's left available. Little late for it.

[Because life insurance policies, land and investments are nice ways to say 'I loved you' when one is not the greatest at showing it.]

Count on Mycroft to be a stickler about my "knowing consent" over documentation and not when he basically abducts me to try to get me to convince you to do Ministry work.

Well, there's a bit of a grey area in the abduction of a brother-in-law.

So, are we going to misbehave in tandem for a while for shall I go conduct myself and my business elsewhere?

[John raises an eyebrow.]

Well, now, that depends on the type of misbehavior you've got in mind, doesn't it? Sometimes your more... creative ideas need a good thwacking from common sense.

General acquaintance with the current influx of future selves. Good to know what we're dealing with. I'm relatively certain Jim is one of the only dark forces to graduate from our year but there might be some surprises in the other grades lurking in the halls as a danger to others.

Yeah, alright, I'll come along. If only because it probably reduces the odds of you strangling someone in our alma mater.

And speaking of meeting future selves, I ran into Tony before I found you. He's from years and years further down the line than we are.

Which reminds me to ask if I can have a reactor core for the next holiday or anniversary.

And where exactly would you put something like that in our flat?

It would make an excellent nightlight.

Look, I know you don't need sleep, but some humans have been known to find it rather useful from time to time.

Reactor cores which emit blinding light might be a bit counterproductive there.

Speaking of sleep, hope you like your old accommodations. This could last days.

I wish I could say the bed's too short... but it's not.

And I'm not really used to sleeping alone anymore. Even if you sometimes knee me in the kidneys in your sleep or I wake up with you half on top of me like an indecisive cat, I like it more than the alternative.

Do you think we have to stay in our old rooms?

John, I'm of half a mind to suggest we remove the rings at this juncture. Murdering Jim Moriarty aside, there are several good reasons not to influence the past. I can hardly invite you up to my bed and expect the good ole' boys of Ravenclaw to respect the privacy of drawn bed curtains.
