[Cassie was one of the first on the ice. It was cold, but sunny, and she just knew she wanted something different today.

She's currently skating alone in long ovals, wearing her skates with bright hufflepuff themed laces.]

[And Georgia is stepping on the ice with some hesitation. Slipping and falling is not exactly attractive.

Speaking of, most people would be sensible enough to not wear a skirt when they could possibly slip and have their knickers exposed, but Georgia was not most people. She was also not convinced of the solidity of said ice.]

Cas, are you quite sure that this won't crack and cause us to fall to our untimely deaths?

[Cassie clings her arm around Georgia's, and slowly begins to stumble skate alongside her, allowing herself for balance, and hoping Georgia provides the same.]

I'm sure the squid would save us, but we still might get hypothermia, and then our untimely deaths might be to do assorted complications.

[Rarity is all too happy to show off her fabulous new ice skates, and her abilities aren't too shabby either. She's spending most of the afternoon trying to work on her twirls without making an idiot of herself. Things would probably go much faster if she was willing to be less elegant about it, but she's making decent progress.]

[And there will be a certain Gryffindor awkwardly skating her way, slipping quite a bit but always managing to just steady himself. As he slides by Rarity, he beams.]

Hello there, Naveen! [She says with a smile and a little flutter of her eyelashes.] I was hoping you might be out here.

[Karkat sat on the bank of the lake, hands shoved deeply into the pockets of the hoodie he wore under his robes as he scowled out at the frozen over lake. Someone had dropped a pair of skates next to him but he hadn't so much as glanced at them since getting here. Whoever had done this was dumb, and they should feel stupid for doing it. Either way, he was not getting out there on the lake. Nope.]

HEY BEST BRO! COME ON OUT MOTHERFUCKER! [hollers from his shaky stance about twenty feet away on the ice. He can't seem to skate for shit, but he has managed to light a cigarette up out here, and it hangs from the corner of his mouth precariously.]

[Oh hell. What the fuck had that idiot been thinking. Obviously not much if the cigarette between his lips is any indication. Karkat gave a small, exasperated sigh and rose from his seat on the bank, staying where he was.]

Fuck no. You get your ass back on dry land right the fuck now!

Hey! [GUESS WHAT HERE'S REASON #2 FOR GOING OUT ON THE LAKE. Jade has her skates all ready and is looking chipper as always.] Aren't you coming?

[He just shifts and huddles further into his blanket/hoodie/cloak cocoon, drawing his knees up as he tilts his head to look at her.]

Fuck no, that thing is a fucking death trap.

[Rapunzel's wide variety of hobbies, aside from some ballet, were generally not physical. But she had managed to convince her mother to get her a pair of skates that one Christmas when she was nine, and Mother had said she'd take her somewhere to learn... But it had never happened.

So she had the skates, but she didn't really know how to use them. That didn't stop her from kind of swaying-slash-waddling on the ice, though.]

[Cassie quietly skates up and looks up at the sky to see what Gamzee is looking at. She proceeds to lie down beside him, but doesn't take up the habit of honking.]

Yeah, it's nice and chill out here. [He honks again, softly, at his own joke, then points up at the sharp clouds drifting by on the pale blue winter sky backdrop.] Brill motherfuckin' view, too.

[ Vriska may not be the BEST staker, but she is good enough to hold her own and race. No, no fancy tricks, but she does enjoy sudden stops that kick up tons of shaved ice up in any innocent bystander's face.

[It's probably a well documented fact that wheelchairs probably don't make the best ice skates. But looking out the window at everyone having so much fun had just been entirely too tempting to resist!!

So Tavros was determined to make his wheelchair act like a decent skating device via magic. Considering he was only a lowly third year, and thus not entirely proficient with magic, this was not working out so well at the moment, as his terrified yells probably attested.]

[Guess who's never been on the ice before? Apparently Xion (incorrectly) assumed that being experienced with water meant that she would do well with FROZEN water.

This is Xion stumbling and sliding COMPLETELY OUT OF CONTROL trying to get a hold on something solid to keep her up.]
