WHAT: Sybille is turning 36!! Murdoc is paying for everyone's dinner in celebration of this fact!

It's a lovely autumn evening and the weather couldn't be more perfect for dining out. It might be chilly outside, but the restaurant is warm, friendly and damn does it ever smell good. If you mention the names Donoghue or Matteris at the door you'll be lead to a private room with a table set for enough room for all the people who expressed interest in attending and more.

There aren't decorations because this is a tasteful, adult party. What are you? Twelve? There aren't seating arrangements either so pick a spot and stop fussing before Murdoc pushes you into the one furthest from the food.

The food is already served and spread across the table. Like hell he had any intention of sitting around while every single person decided they wanted the lobster. Pretty much everything looks good, but save room for cake you money absorbing food sponges.

[Woah, dude. Five minutes late? Who died and made you king of casual entrances.]

[Sybille is not late, by some miracle of science. (Or magic.) She is also looking so dashing, and she seems suitably impressed by the restaurant.

Or is she faking it? We just don't know.]

Not bad, Murdoc.

[Murdoc flashes a small smile as she enters. Yes, she does indeed look dashing, but she's not the only one capable of it. He takes her flesh hand and bows his head to kiss it.]

Joyeux Anniversaire à vous mon cher ami. [His French isn't great, what with having a fairly thick Irish accent, but it's not cringe-worthy.]

[She smiles back at him, and as soon as he raises his head Sybille will be cupping his cheek and pressing a kiss to his lips.

Hah.]

You need to work on your accent, darling.

[He's going to give her a peck back, what's a smooch between friends on their birthday? French is what it is. Damn the French, he feels guilty and strange now.]

It's almost like you don't want your present.

[So yeah, Bro is. kinda late, actually. He really debated not coming at all, for obvious reasons. But. Well, here he is. Late. He even dressed up a little and left the hat at home.

The shades aren't going anywhere, though. Not this time. The first thing that he does when he arrives is look for Murdoc straight away, and when he finds him he heads over to him.]

I hope you know I only did this for you.

[AKA please remind him why he actually is here.]

[Murdoc is the bringer of little smiles today. He's pleased to see Dirk here, though he wonders if it's for the best. Perhaps today is a chance to build some bridges.]

Bonsoir to you too. [He gives him a flat look before gently elbowing him.] I trust you've wished Sybille a Happy Birthday in one of the several languages you know.

[And he doesn't particularly want to. Being here is already awkward enough. He would quite honestly just prefer to hang out with Murdoc the whole evening even if he knows he can't. Which is why he brought his cellphone. He wonders if it would work here...

God he hopes so. Angry bird would be cathartic right now.]

He decided to be nice and not pass this opportunity up or something. Even if he doesn't look too pleased about it.]

[Hehehehe. Sybille is smiling, though, and she's going to try to be polite to Eridan. At least while others are watching.

FOOD/MINGLING/DRINKING

[Wall flowers will be peeled away and tossed onto their faces outside. Murdoc isn't paying for your drinks, drunkards. Mind it.]

[Despite everything he's actually in a pretty good mood today! Mostly because he wants things to be good for Sybille but also a little bit because he's had a bit of wine, which is delicious. Yep, he's going to have more of that.

He's doing his best to look friendly but smiling is hard.]

[At some point Aranea peels herself away from people watching and re-(x infinity)reading and comes over, giving Murdoc a smile.]

Thank you for inviting me Professor. I'm sure you didn't have to, after all you could have kept this adults only, so. Thank you.

You needn't thank me, Miss Serket. [He returns the smile as best he can.] I assumed Sybille would have liked to have you here. Besides, you're far more mature than most of your peers. I was certain I could trust you.

[He did it. Mission afuckingccomplished. He knew he would be able to find them somewhere on the table, and he is fucking proud of that. And Murdoc is at just the position at the table where Bro can do what he's had in mind to do for the last little while. He reaches over under the table slowly, so as not to arouse suspicion, taking Murdoc by the wrist. He pulls his hand over and it definitely seems like he's going to place Murdoc's hand directly there. But when he finally does press Murdoc against something, it's definitely not what Murdoc would expect.

With that, he transfers the nuts he found on the table into Murdoc's hand.

His pokerface never falters.]

[Murdoc is blissfully unaware of Dirk's scheme as he sits at the table, deciding between which dish he wants to peck at. He doesn't notice Dirk reaching until he has his hand, by that point he's trying to be subtle as well, not wanting to draw attention to whatever it is he's doing.

He raises an eyebrow, staring at him from the corner of his eye and tugging at his hand gently when he realises where it's going. He's trying not to make a fuss but DIRK WHAT ARE YOU DOING.

Then, he feels something in his hand. He tugs his hand back, moving it closer to him but not lifting it where anyone can see. He's trying again to be subtle as he unfurls his hand, but it's a little strange to see him just staring at his hand with confusion.

He shrugs it off, curling his hand back into a fist and punching Dirk on the thigh while keeping a serene expression.]

[She's not being so much a wallflower as keeping to herself really. Which is understandable when it comes down to it. Most of the people here are adults, besides Eridan, Cronus and herself and she's actually not quite sure where the two brother's wandered off.

So for now she'll just keep thumbing through an old copy of a Tolkien novel and people watch. She's just quite nicely herself, though that's to be expected.]

[Thankfully one of the brothers meandered back into view. He wasn't wanting to make idle chatter with most of the adults, nor his brother... so his next focus is on Aranea.

Only he's terrible at actually trying to make conversation at the moment so he's just going to stand next to her.]

[Good luck peeling this wall flower away from her spot or indeed tossing her anywhere. She's not quite mingling as of yet, holding a glass of something suspiciously red that no one could have seen her purchase. Every now and then she'll sip it carefully.

Unnerving? Maybe a little if you know what she is. Ask about it. I dare you.]

[He's just going to approach with caution. Like hell he cares what you're drinking, you paid for it.]

[She can't bring herself to give a damn about Dolores is drinking, and she's just glad the women is there.]

[There's little point in lying. Very few people know her as well as Sybille. She smiles and takes one of the woman's hands with her free one, lifting it to her lips to press a kiss to the back of it.]

But I would not miss one of yours for the world.

[Sybille is anything but a wall flower, but that is mostly because she has...well, she's not sure what she's drinking anymore, to be entirely honest. But it tastes good and she's pleasantly buzzed, and that's all that matters.

Even if her smiling at everyone could be a bit off putting to those who are more delicate.]
