WHERE:  The Lake.
WHAT:  After this Murdoc realised the children (and staff) of Hogwarts were in dire need of swimming lessons.
STATUS: Ongoing

[GATHER AROUND CHILDREN it's a warm summer day and the lake is perfect for diving into your sudden but inevitable deaths. You should all be dressed in your swimming trunks (which you clearly have don't even lie) because Murdoc sure is. He's determined to conduct this in the best manner he can, though he wasn't quite expecting the turn out to be so large. People who can swim are welcome to become his assistants because he could probably use the help.]

[Oh, so then you won't mind ... being glomped on by a huge and wet Slytherin 4th year!? Gamzee sneaks up behind the other boy, and snakes cold wet arms around his waist, laughing softly near his ear.] Hey, bro! Have I got to be all carrying you into the water?

[doctorkishitani]

[He jumps slightly, instinctively attempting to pull away from the figure behind him before realizing that it's just Gamzee. With that in mind, he twists around so as to smile up at the other boy as he settles into the hug. Even if it is a cold, wet sort of hug.]

I'm not intending to do any swimming, so I don't think that will be necessary.
How are you finding the lessons?

[It is very damp, but warm with affection, at least, if not temperature. The taller boy immediately starts playing with Shinra as he grins down at him, as he's wont to do.]

They ain't so bad! Except Professor Donoghue told me I ain't straight enough. How come you never come in swimming, though?

[doctorkishitani]

[This is true! And metaphorical warmth is just as good as literal warmth, as far as Shinra is concerned. At Gamzee's remark, he pauses momentarily, glancing towards the lake before turning back to offer the other boy a contemplative frown.]

I would have thought Professor Donoghue would have been more open minded. After all, that doesn't have anything to do with swimming. And for that matter, it doesn't really concern him at all.

He said it would be making me go faster and better, though, and then he all was up and showing me how to be like that. It's motherfuckin' hard! My body ain't all wanting to go that way, you know? [sighs] I guess I'm just wanting to have fun and be happy, but I shouldn't have been around for lessons if I didn't want to learn some shit.

That doesn't make any sense at all. There's no reason for him to believe that your sexual orientation would have anything to do with your speed.

And there probably isn't anything technically stopping your body from going that way, your mind and your soul just don't want it to. But I think that's reason enough to stay as you are. I really thought Professor Donoghue would have understood that.

[He emits a quick, frustrated sort of sigh.]
These lessons just sound bizarre. And counterproductive.

My ... huh? [blinks at Shinra, a bit confused, and not sure why the other boy seems upset] It's okay ... I probably be needing them. I mean, it's why I'm all down here?

[doctorkishitani]

I'm not sure it is.

[He throws another suspicious glance at the lake before turning back to Gamzee and offering the other boy a reassuring smile.]

If you're happy as you are, you shouldn't need to be instructed on how to be otherwise.

[Funny you should look this way, Murdoc was just trudging back up from the lake. Don't think he missed that suspicious look, Shinra, he's returning it with a raised eyebrow.

Cautiously, he approaches the boys and gives them both a curious look.]

Kishitani. Makara. Is there a problem?

[mo_cara]

[glances up, startled] Oh! No, sir, we was just all talking about how you was teaching me how to be straighter and sh- stuff.

[doctorkishitani]

[He glances over at Gamzee before turning to offer Professor Donoghude a strained kind of smile. ]

However, with all due respect, Professor Donoghue, I don't think there's any evidence that suggests that making anyone straighter would have any effect on how well they swim. And by consequence, suggesting that it would is potentially irresponsible.

[Alright. That earns them a confused cock of the head, he squints at Shinra, glancing momentarily at Gamzee before returning his look to Shinra.]

I didn't think you knew how to swim, Mr.Kishitani. There's a great deal of evidence, actually. It minimizes drag and increases speed.

[mo_cara]

[The taller boy looks pretty baffled himself, though his hands automatically go to the Ravenclaw's shoulders in an unconscious gesture of support. He's not really sure why Shinra really hates how Murdoc teaches, but there must be a reason, right?]

[doctorkishitani]

[Well now Shinra's confused too. He stands there for a moment, peering up at Murdoc for a moment before speaking.]

I don't, but I do have a decent understanding of anatomy. And a basic understanding of physics.

[He pauses, having planned to stop there. But then Gamzee's hands are on his shoulders and he can't help but feel oddly emboldened by the gesture.]

So I'm not sure exactly how becoming more 'straight' would reduce drag.

I can't describe the physics behind it, but if you keep your back straight and your arms and legs in time you're far more likely to travel at a faster pace.

Honestly, it's logical. Why are you so up in arms about this?
