WHERE:  The Lake.
WHAT:  After this Murdoc realised the children (and staff) of Hogwarts were in dire need of swimming lessons.
STATUS: Ongoing

[GATHER AROUND CHILDREN it's a warm summer day and the lake is perfect for diving into your sudden but inevitable deaths. You should all be dressed in your swimming trunks (which you clearly have don't even lie) because Murdoc sure is. He's determined to conduct this in the best manner he can, though he wasn't quite expecting the turn out to be so large. People who can swim are welcome to become his assistants because he could probably use the help.]

[Nepeta is not in the lake, not is she by it. In fact she's kiiinda as far away from it as you can get while still being within the vicinity of the crowd. She knows she's going to have to get her butt over there sometime but. SIGH. She's not really all that fond of swimming--especially since...she doesn't know how to.]

[This guy is just looking for people who are obviously uncomfortable. He's standing out of the water for now, but he's narrowing his eyes at Nepeta.

Eventually he waves, trying to beckon for her to come closer.]

[Crap.

Apparently she is getting over there sooner rather than later. Nepeta half considers pretending she didn't notice him but that'll just cause more trouble in the long run. Not to mention it's just plain rude, so with a sigh she pushes herself up.

She's wearing swimming trunks and a shirt and her long hair is pinned up. She gives Murdoc a wane smile when she approaches.]

Hello Purrfessor Donoghue.

Afternoon, Miss Vantas-Leijon. Are you here for the lessons?

[She bit her lip before giving a reluctant nod. Oh well, time to do this thing and best not to be half-assed about it.]

That I am!

C'mon then. [He nods toward the water.] Let's get started.

[Welp. Here goes nothing. She edges into the lake and peers into it before carefully stepping in. The water is cold and already she wants to step out be she wills herself to push in till she is about waist deep and she looks back at Murdoc dubiously]

I've tried to learn before but I've never been able to float very well.

Then we'll work on that. [He takes a few steps back, encouraging her to wade a little deeper.] Once you figure that out, the rest comes naturally.

[She bit her lip, but nodding, trusting him and going in a bit further until she had to stand on her tip toes]

O-ok. [She held her arms out to help herself balance.]

What do I do?

Push your self out of the water an' let yourself float. Like this.

[He does it himself before letting himself drop back to his feet.]

If it's too difficult, I can move you.

[ The first thing Equius does when he gets to the lake is seek out Nepeta. At least, he assumed she'd be there. And when he saw her, he couldn't help but smile for what was probably the first time that day. So he walks up from behind her, putting a STRONG hand of reassurance on her shoulder when he's close enough. ]

I am glad to see you here, Nepeta. Is everything well?

[Nepeta is surprised by the sudden hand on her shoulder, but when she sees who it is she breaks out in a similar smile and quickly hops up to her feet, wrapping her arms around him.]

Equius! Hey! It's good to see you.

[strongjumps]

[ Equius can't help but break into a grin as she hugs him. He responds by wrapping a single arm around her. He wasn't going to do both because then he'd look like he'd be giving her a legitimate hug and then people would probably stare.

Also the other hand held a towel. ]

Are you prepared for the lake? Did you make sure not to eat within the last thirty minutes?

...do you need a towel?

[ He is nothing if not protective. ]

[She laughed]

Don't worry, I had my last meal well over 30 minutes ago. Don't know if that makes me purrpared though. [She let go of him and turned to look at the lake, wrinkling her nose]
