WHERE:  The Lake.
WHAT:  After this Murdoc realised the children (and staff) of Hogwarts were in dire need of swimming lessons.
STATUS: Ongoing

[GATHER AROUND CHILDREN it's a warm summer day and the lake is perfect for diving into your sudden but inevitable deaths. You should all be dressed in your swimming trunks (which you clearly have don't even lie) because Murdoc sure is. He's determined to conduct this in the best manner he can, though he wasn't quite expecting the turn out to be so large. People who can swim are welcome to become his assistants because he could probably use the help.]

[She's too focused on getting to him safely that she doesn't notice him moving backwards.]

It's really cold...

[She pouts a little.]

You'll adjust to it eventually. It's a little more difficult when you aren't submerged.

[She may notice that she's nearly waist deep by now and he still hasn't stopped moving.]

[nobodyscrumpet]

Submerged?!

[Looks almost horrified at the thought, she turns a little too quickly to see if it's too late for her to run away from this whole silly situation. However she turns a little to quickly and nearly upends herself in the water. Unlike before, she does in fact let out a squeak of surprise.]

[He's quick to reach forward and grab her shoulder to steady her before stepping back again.]

A'course. I know it seems scary, but it feels perfectly natural once you become used to it.

[nobodyscrumpet]

[Pulls a little face.]

I can't do this. It's horrible.

[She stands in the water looking distinctly unexpressed with herself, considering the fuss she's making about this. It's just swimming after all, what idiot can't swim?]

[wwistful]

Just a little further and you'll start to learn more than walkin', I promise.

[She's at chest height now, but he's waiting for her to be deep enough in that her toes won't touch the ground.]

[nobodyscrumpet]

[She wraps her arms around herself and hugs herself against the cold. It being more imagined now than anything else due to her body growing used to the water.]

Well... If you promise...

[She continues to come closer]

[wwistful]

I want you to keep walkin' until you can't reach the ground, alright?

[nobodyscrumpet]

Until I can't touch the gro-!

[She cuts herself off then takes a deep breath. She needs to learn this after all.]

Yes Professor.

[She continues to move out stopping when she can touch the bottom with her tip toes.]

[Now he's reaching properly out for her, a few feet away.]

Now I want you to wade forward.

[nobodyscrumpet]

[She swallows and fidgets in the water for a moment before trying to wade forward. However, the second she tried to reach for the bottom with her toe and can't find it she panics her head going under for a second. Causing her to push her self up and towards Murdoc. Because if nothing else she knows he's tall enough to be a safe thing to grab right now.]

Kick your legs! Move your arms to keep you afloat an' kick your legs. C'mon, you can do it!

[nobodyscrumpet]

[Victoria splutters trying to speak but only getting water in her mouth instead. She kicks and flails about like he suggested however she felt stupid and probably looked just as pointless as she struck her arms and legs out in every direction, hoping something will work.]

[Murdoc stares for a long moment before he waves his arms at her, placing them atop the water and demonstrating how she should be moving her arms.]

Stay calm, Miss Kirkland. Gentle kicks.

[nobodyscrumpet]

[She manages to give him something of a horrible look. As much as a panicking girl can.]

[She goes under the water again due to her attempt to make a comment under stress. Struggling a little more before coming back to the surface. Settling down a bit due to becoming too tired more than obedience.]
