WHAT:  After this Murdoc realised the children (and staff) of Hogwarts were in dire need of swimming lessons.
STATUS: Ongoing

[GATHER AROUND CHILDREN it's a warm summer day and the lake is perfect for diving into your sudden but inevitable deaths. You should all be dressed in your swimming trunks (which you clearly have don't even lie) because Murdoc sure is. He's determined to conduct this in the best manner he can, though he wasn't quite expecting the turn out to be so large. People who can swim are welcome to become his assistants because he could probably use the help.]

[Her blue full piece shows up much more than usual, but Aranea has it tugged up as modestly as possible, a sarong skirt slung around her hips in an effort to hide that nice butt. But her smile is warm as she comes over to Karkat, easily reading the distress on his face]

Karkat? Are you ok?

[Her voice snaps him out of the mild panic attack he was about to have, blinking at her for a bit before shaking his head, trying to clear his mind as he raised a hand to his head. His uncle had insisted it would be good for him to learn how to swim and signed him up, so here he was, standing in a pair of grey swim trunks with a red crab on the corner and feeling extremely childish.]

I-I'm fine.

[She thinks they're cute! She probably also forgets Karkat's only a year younger half the time it's not her fault that he's so short. But moving away from the cute boardshorts Aranea glances at the water before ahhing softly, getting it straight away]

Not a big swimmer usually then?

[selfhatred]

[He fidgets with the drawstrings of his board shorts, wriggling his toes as he glanced away. The small pudge where his stomach was probably didn't help the idea that he looked younger than what he was, giving him a rather kiddie look. He shuffled a little before speaking.]

I don't know how to.

[Giving him a warm smile, Aranea puts a hand on his shoulder]

Then it's a good thing you're here. It's better to learn now, in a safe place,then when you desperately need it after all. And really, it's not at all uncommon to not have swimming skills even at your age. So don't worry so much. I'm pretty sure I saw David learning as well, if that helps.

[He crosses his arms over his chest before giving a bit of a smirk when he realizes who she's talking about. It falters after a moment, and he hunches in on himself. Not the first time he wished he was Dave.]

At least Strider's actually trying. I'm just standing here like an idiot.

Are you here for a lesson or are you distracted by your reflection?

[Don't judge hiiiiiiim. Karkat fidgets a little with his swim trunks, not looking at all like the short, cranky kid he usually is, before he sighs.]

I guess I'm here for a lesson.

You may want to get into the water then.

It's a...little harder than that, sir.

You'll forgive me if I don't come running into your arms, Professor. Falling into the lake during the crossing in first year does that to you.

BEST MOTHERFUCKIN' FRIEND! [Gamzee yells happily, and will come galloping out of the water to give the poor smaller boy a huge, very wet hug.]

[Karkat nearly goes toppling over, if it hadn't been for the fact that Gamzee's arms were holding him up. Being hugged by a wet Gamzee was like being jumped on by a large, wet dog, and being smaller than the Slytherin meant there was pretty much no Karkat in sight now aside from his legs.]

That is all being my motherfuckin' name! [The larger boy enthuses, picking his friend up off the ground and swinging him around.] You coming in?

[Feel that, Gamzee? That's Karkat clinging to you as you swing him around.]

I would but I don't know how to swim, damnit!

That' why there be lessons, bro! [And will just adjust so that he's carrying Karkat bridestyle, and start towards the lake, all creature of the Black Lagoon abducting some poor woman.]

[ Oh, Vantas. Equius spots the boy with little difficulty, and can't resist the urge to go make him miserable. With as loud as he is, it's shocking that the boy's not floundering about in the water in an attempt to show off. So, as Equius gets within a few feet of Karkat, culminating in the two standing right next to each other, he's going to just kind of chuckle. Obviously directed right at Karkat. ]

[Karkat didn't notice Equius's approach until he was right next to him. The chuckle makes him jump and scramble to readjust himself so he doesn't look like a total goober.]

[ That chuckle's going to get a bit more derisive and insulting. ]

[He's just going to glower, but that sure is a humiliated blush crossing his cheeks. It was one thing telling Aranea he didn't know how to swim, he sure as hell wasn't telling this guy.]

What business is it of yours anyway? Don't you have towels to go sweat on?

[ Equius glares daggers at Karkat for the sweat comment, but tries not to let his irritation show this readily. ]

The only towels I plan on using today are after I go swimming.

[ And he looks kind of smug right now. ]

I was only asking because I was wondering how badly I would upstage you.

I'm just waiting for everyone to clear the field. They don't want to be in the lake when I get in.

[He waves a hand nonchalantly, trying to at least pull off being proud of being a swimmer when in fact he wasn't one.]

Though I guess I won't be getting in after you stink up the water so I'll be going now.
