WHAT: Bro has thrown a surprise party for Murdoc in his office and invited everyone.

[Having a boyfriend whose birthday is on Valentine's day is beautiful. It's beautiful and Murdoc definitely doesn't understand why. But to Bro, it's beautiful. Because it means that when he throws Murdoc a surprise party, he can get away with using the most horrendous pink decorations that he possibly can. Of course, they're not all pink. Some are purple! The shade of purple that Murdoc likes the most. There are hearts hanging from the ceiling and there's a giant poster that says 'Happy Birthday Murman' hanging on the wall. In the corner there is a playpen set up for anyone who might have decided to bring their snakes. It was a spur of the moment decision and he isn't quite sure how it's going to work out, but hey. At least the snakes have somewhere to play.

But the most standout thing in the room has gotta be a cake. Bro went all out and made a lifesized cake for the occasion. It's chocolate, and it's as tall as a goddamn person. It... looks special, though. It's kind of lopsided, and the icing's thickness is sporadic. And it looks like he might've ran out of icing towards the bottom, because it's definitely not as delicious as the top.

Overall, it could have turned out worse. It does look like it could fall over at any moment, though.

And who even really knows how it tastes.

That isn't the point though! The point is everything is beautiful and it's time for the best party you ever did see.]

It might be a good idea to try mixes, if you ever make another attempt. You have to try pretty hard to screw up a mix!

They make..mixes? [Sheltered pureblood, ahoy!] How exactly does that work?

Basically it's just all the dry ingredients in a box. That's what my muggle side is famous for. Betty Crocker cake mixes!

That sounds.. [Weird.] Fascinatin'. Do they taste the same as hand made cakes?

Some might say they taste better, actually!

I think he likes carrot too. Since it's orange. He's hard to read, sometimes.

[Murdoc notes this and gives her a knowing smile. AH, young love. Precious.]

You think so? Perhaps we have more in common than I thought.

Are you good friends with Mister Strider?

Well, you are awfully close to his father, after all.

Um, yes! He's one of my closest friends, to tell the truth.

I am, but I hadn't spoken to Dirk all that much until recently. He might as well be a stranger for all I know of him.

[He shrugs a little but he keeps that knowing smile.] Are you awfully fond of him?

[Jane nods, remembering Dirk's been away for so long that the professor likely hasn't had a chance to get to know him.

What is with that look though what what do you want.

Jane straightens up a little.]

He's one of my best friends, like I said. Of course I'm fond of him.

Splendid. [He lets himself grin a little.] I'm sure you make a fine pair. [Of friends, of course.]

I-I'm sure I don't know what you're talking about!

[She shuffles away.]
