[Rarity practically ran to her favorite store for craft and jewelry items as soon as the group arrived, and she is now there, very closely inspecting the many shiny things that are available for Valentine's Day.]

Melvin had been doing much better the past few days. The initial shock had warn off, and, well... He was pretty good at hiding things that truly bothered him.

Besides, the promise that that Hogsmeade trip brought -- Time with Roxanne and at Honeyduke's. -- was helping keep his mind of off things.

It would be nice. And he would spoil her. He wasn't from a rich family -- if you could call him and Warren a family -- but he had enough to treat his girlfriend to plenty of sweets.

Roxanne was excited too -- the prospect of being around Melvin was appealing, and...well.

So was sweet things and being in the village and the idea of being out.

Though even she had to admit that Melvin's company was at the top of her list.

Hand firmly clasping his, she leaned in, hiding from the cold.

He smiled and the leaning in. Oh, that was sweet. Maybe even as sweet as candy.

In fact, he even felt brave enough to give her hand a squeeze.

"Almost there..."

She squeezes back, and stayed huddled close.

"Bit chilly isn't it?"

"Well, you know," Melvin began with a nod, "February and all. It should be warmer in the shop."

She'd pinch him, if her fingers weren't numb.

"Cold in February? Really?" Totally shocked look here.

[Karkat kept his hands shoved into the large pocket at the front of his hoodie, the usual scowl set into place but with less fire behind it. How could he be mad when he was on his first date? He brought one hand out to wipe the back of it against his mouth, remembering kissing Gamzee and wondering if he'd have the opportunity to put that practice to the test.

Nope, nope, nope. He shouldn't be thinking about that. This was his date with Jade and he was going to be as gentlemanly as possible without making her think his brain had been taken over by aliens.

[He glances at her before raising a hand to rub the back of his neck, looking a little unsure.]

Um...fuck, I dunno. Want to just get butterbeer first and then figure out what to do from there?

Geez, Mr. Romance himself doesn't know what he wants to do on a date. That's pretty weird! Yeah, okay, let's go.

[That's definitely her tugging on his arm.]

Hurry up, we've got some romancing to do!

Hey, I've never been on a date before. Just because I know romance doesn't mean I know what I want.

[He doesn't sound snappish, not at all. Still, he places his hand on hers in the crook of his arm, starting to lead her away from the group. He doesn't lead her towards the Three Broomsticks though.]

[Applejack didn't see the appeal behind Valentine's Day but that doesn't mean she wasn't for going to Hogsmeade. After all she had to go to Honeydukes and pick up the candy and treats for the study hall table. She made her way through the village with Honeydukes in mind, bookbag slung over her shoulder in order to be able to carry everything back.]

[Snowball? Yes, snowball. Again.

In other words, Sokka saw Applejack and just couldn't resist lobbing a fluffy ball of snow at her.]

Hey! Where are you headed?

[A snowball again? This was starting to become their customary greeting. Applejack turned her head to see him standing behind her, placing a hand on her hip.]

Honeydukes. Me n' Xion're setting up a surprise in th' study hall.

[Scurry scurry scurry through the snow over to her.]

What kind of surprise?

If Ah told you it wouldn't be much of a surprise now would it? [She waved a hand nonchalantly.] Jus' a li'l somethin' fer Valentine's. We figure not everyone has a date or special someone so we were going to set up a table with chocolates and apple treats n' stuff.

Sounds great! [Figures Applejack and Xion would be doing something like that.] You need any help... Carrying things?

[Baking apple treats is not manly. Carrying heavy bags of chocolate totally is.]

Ally was bundled up quite thoroughly against the cold, and headed directly for Dominic Maestro's Music Shop, as she usually did during Hogsmeade trips. She was alone, for the moment, but that didn't bother her. Sometimes it was nice to just have quiet and think...

Then again, there were so many couples around, and while Ally didn't care about not having a Valentine too much, it would have been nice to have a friend to make her feel a little less awkward.

The date that totally isn't a date.

[Jude's waiting just outside the castle, having already gotten her permission slip examined thoroughly. Now she's just waiting for Stephen so they can go on that not date. The one she's still kinda dreading.]

[It wasn't long before he showed up. He nodded at her in greeting.] Hey. Been waiting long?

[She gives him a small wave.] No, just a few minutes.

[She figures there's no use standing around exchanging smalltalk, so she takes the initiative and heads in the direction of Hogsmeade.]
