Melvin had been doing much better the past few days. The initial shock had warn off, and, well... He was pretty good at hiding things that truly bothered him.

Besides, the promise that that Hogsmeade trip brought -- Time with Roxanne and at Honeyduke's. -- was helping keep his mind of off things.

It would be nice. And he would spoil her. He wasn't from a rich family -- if you could call him and Warren a family -- but he had enough to treat his girlfriend to plenty of sweets.

Roxanne was excited too -- the prospect of being around Melvin was appealing, and...well.

So was sweet things and being in the village and the idea of being out.

Though even she had to admit that Melvin's company was at the top of her list.

Hand firmly clasping his, she leaned in, hiding from the cold.

He smiled and the leaning in. Oh, that was sweet. Maybe even as sweet as candy.

In fact, he even felt brave enough to give her hand a squeeze.

"Almost there..."

She squeezes back, and stayed huddled close.

"Bit chilly isn't it?"

"Well, you know," Melvin began with a nod, "February and all. It should be warmer in the shop."

She'd pinch him, if her fingers weren't numb.

"Cold in February? Really?" Totally shocked look here.

Melvin, being a totally mature young man, stuck his tongue out at her in response.

"You're so cheeky."

Okay, that she does make a grab for.

"Oh, you like it."

Melvin smirked at that. "I didn't say I didn't!"

"Sooooo....What else do you like?" She grins, stretching to kiss his cheek.

"Besides my cheekiness."

What didn't he like would have gotten a short answer. He blushed, both at the question and the kiss, looking down shyly for a moment.

"You're smart. And brave... And you're caring."

She's warmer now, despite the chill in the air. She's blushing happily.

"You're fantastic."

"Thank you. I am, but..."

He kissed her, briefly and gently. "So are you."

And he successfully sent her into a happy little delirium with that. She kisses him back, hugs him, then heads towards Honeydukes.

"Come on. Let's get stuff here then go get something warm to drink."

"An excellent plan!" Melvin declared, picking up his pace a bit as they neared the candy shop. Once they arrived, he held the door open for Roxanne. That was right, wasn't it?

Completely right. She scurries in, stamping her feet to bring feeling back to them before getting enthralled with everything in the store.

Yeah, he was pretty delighted, as well. Such a wonderful variety; the number of types of chocolate alone was amazing...

But right. Focusing on Roxanne.

"So... What would you like?"

She perks -- she was easy to please.

"More quills? Maybe a chocolate frog?"

"As you wish!" Melvin picked the appropriate treats from the shelves. "Anything else?"

"No no - that's plenty." No need to be greedy. "I think that's good. Unless you want some of those wands - just because I know you like them..."

"Ah-ew contrair-ee, Roxanne. Today I am simply spoiling you."

Besides, he still had plenty of licorice wands in his dorm.

And yes.

Yes, that was supposed to be French.

She blinks at him, then bursts into giggles and throws her arms around him.

"You are so amazing."

"Um..."

He wasn't complaining about the hug -- rather, he returned it -- but he was certainly confused.

"I know? Er, I mean, thank you? What... Brought that on?"
