[open] All things by immortal power, near or far to each other linked are, that thou canst not stir
WHO: Constance Peixes and any of her Astronomy students that want extra credit/just want to see a meteor shower
TONE: Academic, with a side of 'oooh' and 'aaaah'.
RATING: G
WHEN: Late October 20, into the wee hours of the 21st
WHERE: a remote part of school grounds with a clear view of the night sky
WHAT: a field trip, to observe the Orionid meteor shower! Mix, mingle, ask what that one funny-looking trail is, but more importantly, enjoy the show!
STATUS: Ongoing!
Thank goodness the weather held. It was a bit of a chilly night, so Constance had advised her students to dress warmly, and she'd made a quick arrangement for a keg of hot butterbeer to be delivered to the site for later on, along with hot chocolate and tea. But the sky was clear, and it would make for good observation weather.
She set up the rest of the telescopes and equipment, put up a few defensive charms up - mostly against any animals that might disturb the site, but also against any humans who might try to tamper with it - and back to campus.
Once it was time, she gathered up her group, and began to head out. Once they arrived, she passed around a set of several past showers, pointing out what to look for.
Now to wait for the show.
[ooc: prose or action is fine! also, the second youtube link is better with sound off, watched in HD fullscreen if your computer can.]

Which was why he asked Bruce if he wanted to go with him, and got himself spiffyed up for the event. He even got there early, just to make sure he wasn't late.
So he could be found lingering around on the edge of the group in his nice red shirt with the first button undone and the collar popped up, pinstripe pants, and hat pulled low over his face.

Spotting Maxim's hat, Bruce walked over, smiling at how dressed up the other boy was. "What, you waiting for a girl or something?"

"Mr. Jaeger, I did not spend hours positioning telescopes for them to sit idle while you chat up a fellow student, keeping them from their observations. This is not a social occasion. If you are not here to work, then I'll have to ask you to leave. Am I making myself clear?"

[The small smile is returned with an equally faint one of his own, and he looks up at the sky, letting out a slow breath]
Feeling alright?

The boy's pretty much snuggled up right now with a nice thick
and probably expensive looking if you squint,,,jacket and one of his thicker matching scarves and pretty much took to relaxing and half actually looking into his work. He looked not as tense as usual, which probably came off as strange if one did not know him as well. But of course he is open to being talked to, even if it seems as if he just wants to sit and watch the stars and enjoy this evening.]no subject
But, well, she's been meaning to check on Eridan.]
Look up there, to the left. See there? That's the 'club' Orion has. It's where most of the meteors will seem to be coming from.

I'll be keepin' that in mind, then. I can only begin to imagine how many we're gonna see tonight. [And... there's a tiny smile.] At least the weather's nice enough to be in our favour.
[Huee, he hoped she caught that v. He's been really practising his hardest at projecting those letters... even if it's only a once in a while thing unless he really puts his effort into it.]

Focusing on schoolwork seemed to help too and he had a piece of parchment in his hands as he took notes and coordinates, distracting himself from the unwanted feeling churning in his gut.]

You know, back when I was a student here, my own Astronomy professor took us out here to watch meteor showers. He liked to draw them, too, and I remember him saying that this was his favorite place in the world for it.

It is very beautiful. Thank you for bringing us here Professor.

The weather's held and the sky is putting on an absolutely beautiful show. I believe I can call tonight a smashing success.

She already on one of the telescopes, viewing the shower, she is pretty impressive by the show. Times like this, she completely understands why her mother's passion is Astronomy.]
