[open] All things by immortal power, near or far to each other linked are, that thou canst not stir
WHO: Constance Peixes and any of her Astronomy students that want extra credit/just want to see a meteor shower
TONE: Academic, with a side of 'oooh' and 'aaaah'.
RATING: G
WHEN: Late October 20, into the wee hours of the 21st
WHERE: a remote part of school grounds with a clear view of the night sky
WHAT: a field trip, to observe the Orionid meteor shower! Mix, mingle, ask what that one funny-looking trail is, but more importantly, enjoy the show!
STATUS: Ongoing!
Thank goodness the weather held. It was a bit of a chilly night, so Constance had advised her students to dress warmly, and she'd made a quick arrangement for a keg of hot butterbeer to be delivered to the site for later on, along with hot chocolate and tea. But the sky was clear, and it would make for good observation weather.
She set up the rest of the telescopes and equipment, put up a few defensive charms up - mostly against any animals that might disturb the site, but also against any humans who might try to tamper with it - and back to campus.
Once it was time, she gathered up her group, and began to head out. Once they arrived, she passed around a set of several past showers, pointing out what to look for.
Now to wait for the show.
[ooc: prose or action is fine! also, the second youtube link is better with sound off, watched in HD fullscreen if your computer can.]

Which was why he asked Bruce if he wanted to go with him, and got himself spiffyed up for the event. He even got there early, just to make sure he wasn't late.
So he could be found lingering around on the edge of the group in his nice red shirt with the first button undone and the collar popped up, pinstripe pants, and hat pulled low over his face.

Spotting Maxim's hat, Bruce walked over, smiling at how dressed up the other boy was. "What, you waiting for a girl or something?"

"Vhy vould Hy be vaitink for a gurl vhen Hy asked hyu?"

Why won't you notice him, senpai?"Hy em early," he shrugged, tucking a bit of hair behind his ear before giving Bruce a sly smile. "Hy deedn't vant to miss hyu."

He adjusted the Ravenclaw scarf around his neck, unable to cover his nose for fear of fogging up his glasses, and looked around at the set up telescopes.

Thinking quickly, he moves in front of the telescope, careful not to bump it, puffing out his chest and flashing his most charming smile.
"See enyting hyu like?" he asks, waggling his eyebrows.

"Mr. Banner, is Mr. Jaegar bothering you? Because he's gotten a firm warning that if he bothers other students while we are out here, then he's to go back to Gryffindor Tower and await instructions on further detention."

Constance drew herself up to her full height, taking out her wand and doing a bit of quick spellwork, which set a very specific barrier up around the telescope Bruce was currently working around. Sound could pass through it. So could any student with a legitimate, schoolwork-related question. But anyone with inappropriate intent wouldn't be passing through that barrier.
"Now, Mr. Jaegar, if you are actually just speaking to him, you can still do so. If you had other plans, I suggest you go back to Gryffindor Tower."
no subject
He really hadn't. He'd been very careful not to, just because he knew how much time and effort had gone into setting them up. He may not have been there to work, but that hardly meant he was going to mess everything up.
"Ve vos chust talkink. Hy told hyu Hy vasn't gonna bodder nobody vhat deedn't vant it, and Hy meant it. Hy do not break my vurd."

You have two options, at this point: sit down and watch the show, or go back to Gryffindor Tower. I'll be sending a note to Professor Vantas, so if you're not back within a reasonable time, he'll be looking for you."

"We'll behave, Professor."

"Mr. Jaeger, I did not spend hours positioning telescopes for them to sit idle while you chat up a fellow student, keeping them from their observations. This is not a social occasion. If you are not here to work, then I'll have to ask you to leave. Am I making myself clear?"

"If you're here to focus on anything other than the show that the universe is going to be putting on for us tonight, then you are here for the wrong reason. The fact that you mentioned another student - a very bright student who, if he decides to come, will be here to work - and not the meteor shower means that you should rethink your priorities.
I will not have you keeping another student from the show in the sky by causing a show of your own. Is that clear?"

He tosses his head, flicking a bit of hair over his shoulder. "Che, all dis finger pointink, accusink me ov trouble before Hy got a chence to do enyting makes me vanna do zumting to deserve it, hyu know dot, right? Mebbe hyu should calm down und schtop yellink at me vhen Hy ain't done nottink wrong."

Constance folds her arms over her chest, looking right into the boy's eyes as she speaks.
"I am merely making a set of ground rules very clear. You've gotten quite the reputation for making trouble during teacher-supervised events. What I am telling you is that I am not going to tolerate any attempts on your part to make any sort of trouble."
