[He's never been the best in social situations, so Arthur is more or less trying to remove himself from this one, or at least make himself as unnoticeable as possible. There's a thick book open on his lap - one he'd been reading for most of the summer - and for the looks of it, he's almost done.

For the moment, he's managing to ignore everyone around him. Having twice as many people as usual in the Slytherin dungeon is making that rather difficult, however]

[Oh look, it's Arthur, he looks ripe for the bugging. Particularly with the book in his lap, what is he even doing]

You know, school doesn't start for another 12 hours, you could hold off on the reading.

I could, but there's this fascinating sub-set of the student body who are known for their enjoyment of recreational reading. I happen to be one of them.

[He looks up at her, one eyebrow raised]

[Georgia stares a little, because my god, what a massive eyebrow it was to raise. She'd sort've forgotten until he drew attention to it. Was it heavy, carrying that around on his face? She doesn't say any of this, however, and merely sits in the chair next to his.]

[A smaller boy with a similar idea is sidling closer, trying his best to look stoic and uninterested in the proceedings, and doing a decent job of it.]

Kirkland. Perhaps you could tell me where I should be putting my trunk?

[He flicks his gaze up, green eyes regarding the other boy with a small glimmer of interest]

.. I imagine the fifth year dorms would be a good place to start.

[Ah, but of course, he doesn't know where they are. Arthur sighs]

I can give you directions, unless you desperately require an escort.. in which case I suppose I can oblige.

[purses his lips] I'm a sixth year. [Not that he isn't constantly being mistaken for a younger student, because of his size.] And directions would be adequate, unless you know of any gangs lurking about that might want to ambush me.

[He snaps his book shut with an audible thud and gets to his feet. It's not that he forgot which year the other boy was in... well, he did, but for a moment he'd forgotten that he himself was a sixth year]

And that would entirely depend upon how many enemies you've managed to make. You'll be sharing with myself and Eriq. Mm, and Bruce and Tony as well, I imagine. Come along, I'll show you.

Yes, I assume all of us are in the same place. [sniffing a little - he likes Bruce well enough, but Tony's just aggravating] And I doubt anyone is too fond of me here, except perhaps Eriq. But I'm not sure how prone to attack you lot are.

[Herbert is actually joking? But you'd never be able to tell from his dry tone of voice.]

I can assure you, we're as subject to detentions and disciplinary procedure as you are.

[His own voice is equally dry, and he gives a small jerk of his head before moving off, leading the other boy to where he'll be spending the week]

We just may be better at getting away with the things we do. I've no intention to fire a hex at you myself, but if you're concerned, just watch your back.

[This is Eriq slowly popping up behind Arthur, hands resting on the back the chair as he leans over the other boy's shoulder until their heads are perfectly parallel. He pauses for a moment, then flicks his eyes to Arthur's face.]

Herbert will be staying in the dorm with me. I just thought you should know.

[... He'd felt the hairs on the back of his neck prickling, and here's the reason. The only person who can sneak up on him with no chance of being violently assaulted as a result]

[He entertains the other boy's dramatics, and he doesn't move his head, just flicks his eyes across to meet the other's]

I'd already surmised as much, but thank you for the information.

[Especially when you're being creepy and watching me sleeping, he almost adds, but that's the kind of thing no one needs to know about and as much as it does creep him out, there's no real need to broadcast it]

From what I've seen of him, so is he. I do hope he doesn't indulge in the same habits as you, however. I only have so many things I can throw.

No, he's likely to consider anything that might prompt you to throw things at him a waste of his time. So you'll be left relatively undisturbed for the length of his stay.

[He turns his head to look at the other boy, one eyebrow slightly lifted and a wry expression on his face]

[Gamzee ambles up and sits on the arm of Arthur's chair, with his usual total disregard for personal space, and then leans against the other boy, peering curiously at his book.] Damn, you could brain a motherfucker with that!

[Arthur grins up at his friend - though he can't keep the light blush off his face - and lifts the book up, knocking the spine gently against Gamzee's forehead]

I'm sure, but there are far less messy ways to go about it that don't involve ruining my books.

Ain't nothing up in there for you to knock out! [cheerfully, adding] But don't you look sweet all pink like that? Whatcha reading?

[The light pink turns to a brilliant red flush the moment it's pointed out and Arthur groans, dropping his head to his knees while he tries to get it under control.

In the meantime, he just holds the book up so Gamzee can read the title - The Once and Future King]

[Gamzee leans lightly on Arthur's shoulder, peering at the book for a long moment ... then brightening.] Motherfuckin' King Arthur! Hell yeah! ... woah, I just realized. Is that what your name is for? Are you like royalty and shit?

[He shoots a somewhat incredulous look up at the other boy, then snorts]
