Back to School Diagon Alley Festival! – Log 2

WHO: Anyone visiting Diagon Alley!
TONE: Festive and busy!
RATING: PG-13 for possible language
WHEN: August 23 & 24th
WHERE: Any and all of Diagon Alley
WHAT: There is a huge festival the whole week to let students get school supplies. People from all over are flocking to Diagon Alley for the best deals. That means you might meet new people or see old friends!
STATUS: Ongoing!
NOTE: Remember that this event is semi-open! Any HP AU character can have fun here, whether you're in the game or not, so have fun! If you missed the rush for the first log, here's a second chance to have fun, and start some of that September plotting!

[Victoria stops and turns to look as she hears the clattering. With a small sigh she comes over to him, putting her own cage down and puts her hands on either side of Alfred's cage and looks in on the owl.]

What is the loud, nasty American doing to you? You poor dear, only just got you and he's abusing you.

[Her tone is soft and sweet to the predatory bird inside, she doesn't look away from the bird when she addresses Alfred, but the tone make it obvious.]

You have five seconds to give me a reason to want to give you any more time.

I'm not doing anything to the owl, I was trying to catch up to you and stop you from--augh, whatever, look.

It's about your cousin, and how I sort of like him but I keep doing everything wrong I think so just HEAR ME OUT?!

[Woo, talk about blurting things. He probably went past five seconds, but hey.]

[Victoria looks up at Alfred with a sour look as he shouts, then straightens up from the cage coming to her full height, which doesn't mean much, because she still has to crane her neck to look up at him.]

I'm barely two feet away, you don't have to shout.

[She brushes a stray hair behind her ear and adjusts her glasses slowly. Her every movement long and drawn out, she had every intention of dragging this out.]

I don't see why I should have to hear you out for that.

[Because yup, she already knew all that.]

Sorry, didn't mean to yell--wait. Wait a second.

[He blinks and looks confused.]

Why not? I mean...what do you know?

[She keeps her face neutral, but the slight down turn to her lips is a reminder of how much she is not enjoying this.]

I know enough. I love Arthur a great deal, and I wont have him subjected to your nonsense any more than he has to put up with.

[She crosses her arms]

Anything else?

I don't want him subjected to anyone's nonsense. I'm tryin' to fix what I did wrong. I know it isn't gonna be done overnight. But I...well, I like him, as I said.

I was hoping that you could tell me how to show I'm sorry properly. Since everything I do comes off sort of wrong to him. I think I did alright buying him that little broomstick thing. I suppose I did, even if I had to ninja that.

You might not like me much, but maybe we can come to some sort of agreement since we both care about him.

[In different ways, but sssh.]

[Victoria stares at him for a momenet then takes of her glasses and cleans them with her small floral hanky. Being as slow as she can before putting them back on to look at him.]

Oh? And what if I don't think you're good enough for him? Or that you don't deserve him? Because other than tempted murder, I can't think of any reason I should help you.

[Alfred's not a very patient guy to begin with. But this tedious time-taking is bothering the hell out of him, and it's starting to show.]

...B-because! I want him to like me too! And I can prove I'm good enough for him!

[Not that he deserved him, but proving himself might go a ways to being able to say he did, right?]

[She heaves a sigh, then picks up her owl cage.]

Take me out for some tea, Jones. And then I guess we can talk about this more.

But don't think you have a way in. I just feel like some tea, and if you really want me to like you as a way to Arthur then you'll want to pay for it.

Okay...yeah! I can do that, and it's not even just for Arthur's sake. There's nothing wrong with treating a girl to something she wants.

[He grins halfishly, perhaps a bit nervous.]

Is there any place you want to go in particular? I ain't too familiar with things here, not when it comes to tea and stuff.

"I'm not too familiar"

[Victoria absently corrected him as she starts to walk]

There's a small tea house just up from here, it's rather sweet and unobtrusive. Something that you might be able to reflect on while you're there.

[She could hear Madeline in her head telling her to stop being so rude. And considering as she was letting him have the benefit of the doubt right now, she guessed that she might as well.]

We can even have cheesecake or something, some kind of sweet thing that you'll no doubt be unable to get enough of.

[Progress?]

[He waits till Victoria's just in front of him, then sticks his tongue out at her back as he heads on after her, carrying his owl cage carefully.]

Yeah, alright. Well so long as there's something for me, I mean I'd appreciate it anyway.

[Yes, he can tell that you are just prodding and poking, and he's going to take it like a man, Victoria. You can't tease him enough to piss him off.]

[Only because she hasn't begun to try!]

Oh I'm sure there will be something sweet there for you.

[She doesn't walk far before she wanders into the little tea house and finds a little table in the corner. She puts her owl down and sits at the table, picking up the menu immediately and ponders what tea she would have today. The tea menu is just as large as the sweets menu.]

[Once they're inside, Alfred takes care to settle his owl close to Victoria's so it has some form of company, then he takes up the menu, forgoing the tea entirely and looking at the sweets. He's no tea connoisseur, here.]

So what're you havin'?

[Yes. Best conversation.]

Hmmm

[She pouts in thought as she looks at the menu for a long moment. For her, tea is serious business.]

I think I'll have the white rose today.

[She looks at him over the menu.]

And yourself? Coffee and a donut?

That sounds fine for me.

[If she was trying to insult, it wasn't working. Alfred makes sure that the both of them are taken care of, and once their order is placed, he turns his full attention to Victoria.]

So...uhm. While we're waiting...

Of course.

[Victoria flattens out the table cloth near her, as she rolls her eyes a little.]

Why do you want him to like you now? You seemed quite happy enough to torture him before.

That was before. Before...I got what was going on with him. I've felt bad teasing him for years. But if I stopped he'd just be done with me. I didn't want that to happen.

But I don't want to hurt him.

[Putting the menu down, Victoria rests her chin in her hand and regards Alfred with a bored expression.]

However, trying to kill my other cousins is completely fine?

Why would you think I'm trying to kill your other cousins?? I'm not trying to hurt anyone!

[Please don't mention that please don't mention what he thinks you're going to mention...]

[She gives him a look that suggests she isn't in the mood for nonsense.]

Do not assume that Arthur keeps me in the dark. There is nothing about him I don't know.

Oh, well that's true. But you know, I didn't mean for anything bad to happen to that asshole, much as I don't like him.

[Obviously talking about Phineas, but he's not going to say the name. Keeping himself far removed from the situation makes him feel a little less guilty, so long as it's not Arthur NAMEDROPPING HIS IDIOT BROTHER. Because then he just can't help feeling bad.]

I got in trouble for the spell, and I got in trouble for trying to help. It's not cool.

[She gives almost a smile.]

It did somewhat endear you to me. But only a little bit, minuscule change really.

You must really be taken with Bunny, if you're stupid enough to endanger his families lives.

I do like him. I like him a lot, really. Circumstances bein' what they were just made things rough is all, otherwise I'd have stopped picking on him a long time ago, but...

[He shakes his head.]

Let's just leave it at me aiming to change things. I want to make it better at all costs, because I really like him.

He doesn't deserve a bully who had an attack of conscious.

[She looks at him over her glasses.]

He deserves someone much better, someone who can look out for him, and talk him down from his temper.

Laugh at his lame jokes.
