Ah, the sound of music. It's not always a pretty sound- definitely not. While there are plenty of good bands at the festival, there are also plenty of pretty awful ones trying to make it big. But that's okay, because it's still a good time! Look at all of those stages, look at all that festival food. Four days of music, fun and awesomeness! So walk around, enjoy the music, maybe enter the singing competition they have each day.

But wait! Even if you aren't musically inclined, guess what? Shortly after arriving, you begin to feel the sudden urge to sing, too, even if you might sound like a dying whale. Eventually the urge is going to get so great that you just have to break out into song. Or you might just sing randomly throughout the day, if you give into the feelings. It really depends on your willpower! Either way, you will sing. It looks like all the spells used to make this happen have had unintended side-effects.

That won't stop you from having fun though, right?

[Dirk doesn't actually bump into Murdoc in the crowd, fortunately for them both. Actually, he sees Murdoc from behind, along the side of the crowd, and actually bothers to approach. He's not tired of the crowds quite yet, but he's getting there, and it'd be better seeing a familiar face for a little while.]

'Sup, Mr. Ampora.

[Murdoc has spent the past hour or so looking for his god damn stupid boyfriend, so his reaction to hearing Dirk's voice is near instantaneous.

On the plus side, Dirk can be proud that his voice has reached the same timbre as his father's. On the downside, he's being pulled into a tango-esque pose by the older man who really needs to look before he grabs.]

Summer lovin'. [He answers plainly....before realising who he has in his hands and dropping the boy instantly.] ..Happened so fast.

[He thought the "Mister Ampora" part would make it obvious. Apparently not. He's too bewildered to protest at first, but as soon as Murdoc lets him go, he takes a few steps back. He's also losing his desperate fight not to blush.]

This a bad time?

[Murdoc is just going to take a few good steps backward. Dirk, really, as if any name for Murdoc hasn't been tainted by Bro in some manner! Nothing is sacred in this family, nothing.]

Y...essssss. [Which is probably indicated by the fact that he sang that.] Don't tell me I'm the only one who feels peculiar today.

[Well, that's the reason he didn't go with Professor. Because he figured that would be the one more likely to be tainted outside of school. Or inside of it, really.

Things that Dirk doesn't want to notice, but has anyway: Professor Ampora's singing voice.]

Impromptu concerts seem all the rage today. So I guess the answer is no.

[Murdoc fails to feel sorry for Dirk because he's too busy feeling sorry for himself. How will he ever command the respect of the brood now? Who knows.]

It seems fittin' enough for a music festival. [He manages to keep his voice flat.] You won't... tell your father about that? Will you? [He'll never live it down.]

[It's a question to be pondered alongside "did he ever command them in the first place?" Although Dirk does certainly respect him as a wizard. Just... less and less as a potential father figure.]

If I run into Bro, I'll let him know you're looking for him. Like hell I'd tell him about that.

[Bro would probably laugh his ass off at their misfortune.]

I can never be too sure with Striders. [There's as much bitterness as there is condescension in his tone. As if he's laying the blame for the situation on Dirk in the most subtle nuances.]

You've no obligation to linger, you know. [He shoos at him with his hands.] Go play. Or whatever it is you're meant to do at festivals, at the very least. [Murdoc looks like he knows that.]

[Dirk's rolling his eyes behind his glasses.]

You don't have to take your embarrassment out on me.

I most certainly was not! [Wow, look how affronted he looks.] I was merely offerin' a polite out for this abomination of an out of school run in.

[He sighs heavily, rubbing his forehead in exasperation.] Unless, of course, you'd prefer for the conversation to go on?
