Ah, the sound of music. It's not always a pretty sound- definitely not. While there are plenty of good bands at the festival, there are also plenty of pretty awful ones trying to make it big. But that's okay, because it's still a good time! Look at all of those stages, look at all that festival food. Four days of music, fun and awesomeness! So walk around, enjoy the music, maybe enter the singing competition they have each day.
But wait! Even if you aren't musically inclined, guess what? Shortly after arriving, you begin to feel the sudden urge to sing, too, even if you might sound like a dying whale. Eventually the urge is going to get so great that you just have to break out into song. Or you might just sing randomly throughout the day, if you give into the feelings. It really depends on your willpower! Either way, you will sing. It looks like all the spells used to make this happen have had unintended side-effects.
That won't stop you from having fun though, right?

Day Two

And suddenly, without even thinking about it, he's moving to pick up the microphone and belting out-]
CAN'T READ MY, CAN'T READ MY, NO YOU CAN'T READ MY POKER FACE!
no subject
As soon as he hears what Bro is singing, he starts practicing a poker face of his own, and moving toward the edges of the crowd.]
no subject
Dirk, hey Dirk! [Complete with a magical spotlight on the younger Strider.] Get your ass up here!
no subject
He doesn't do either of these, of course. What he does do is flip Bro off.]
no subject
Come on, give'em a hand. [And the crowd cheers him on.]
no subject
You are dead to me.
no subject
You'll be alright, Dirky.
[It's said so only Dirk can hear him, before he's shoving the microphone in his face.]
Take it away, Baby Gaga.
no subject
As it is, Dirk's just going to start singing Telephone. It may or may not be a pointed message.]

Maybe he should counteract the Lady Gaga with something just as annoyingly catchy....]

WANNA HOLD 'EM LIKE THEY DO IN TEXAS PLAYS...
no subject
She is making a beeline to...who knows. Off into the sunset.] I'm going home. [Goodbye friends. She is gone.]
no subject
But he stops in the middle of it, catching sight of Rose trying to make a beeline.]
Rose! Where d'you think you're goin'?
no subject
I need time to recover before dealing with such embarrassment again. [You're embarrassing her, dad.]

But it's better than being home, better than feeling indebted over things he doesn't even understand. Or it had been better, before the song had started to bubble under his skin. His voice isn't terrible, but it's nothing spectacular, the words of this particular song coming out rough, unpracticed (he hasn't sung, even to himself, in a long time, not since the days when he'd spent some time singing hymns. He's not sure he's comfortable with this, but he opens his mouth anyway, letting the words out and hoping no one's close enough to overhear him.]
But just because it burns doesn't mean you're gonna die. You've gotta get up and try, and try, and try.
no subject
It seems that people have been breaking into song left and right. [Rose is a stubborn girl, and she's been pushing that feeling off for as long as she can. She refuses to succumb. It might eventually happen, but for now, she still refuses to sing.]
no subject
It's pathetic. [And yes, he includes himself in that assessment, irritated and prickly.
no subject
I can't imagine it being that pathetic. It's like school and it's ability to turn itself on its side at any given moment. Perhaps it's not the school but the students and staff. [Or maybe their lives just suck in that regard.]
no subject
You think it's better for our dull fate to be be self-inflicted?
no subject
Either way, one should not take it so badly. It is easier to just accept something like this. It's rather trivial compared to some other things we have had to deal with before.
no subject
I'd trade being encouraged to burst into song for mortal danger any day of the week, and twice on Sundays.
no subject
You're a thrill seeker though. I suppose that singing doesn't really make for a very exciting ailment.
I guess you haven't gotten into any fights with anyone yet. It seems like something quite possible in this environment.
no subject
If I get into trouble now I won't be allowed on another trip.
Although perhaps that would be better, save me from this sort of thing.
