WHO: Dolores & anyone
TONE: Various??
RATING: G for now
WHEN: March 11th
WHERE: Hospital wing, school grounds & great hall
WHAT: Open log for various interactions -- pick a letter! :3
STATUS: Ongoing
---
[A.]
[In the morning, far too early for anyone to be so chipper, Dolores can be found in the hospital wing, getting ready for another week. She's humming to herself, some jaunty song from the 1960s.
She might even be dancing a little, if the twirling from one bed to the next while she nods her head along with the tune is anything to go by.]
[B.]
[Later in the day, the nurse is out in the school grounds, sitting in the courtyard with her face turned up to the cold March sunshine. She's not really dressed for the weather, in her usual dress with a scarf wrapped around her neck, but she doesn't feel the cold in any case.]
[C.]
[In the evening, after most students have departed from dinner and gone back to their own dorms, she's sitting in the spot at the staff table that's always left open for her but one she so rarely takes.
She hadn't been there while everyone else was eating - it's been maybe ten minutes since she entered the room - but she's sitting there now, contemplative, rolling a red apple across the wood of the table in front of her, from one hand to the other.]

Hello Miss Maryam. Are you feeling alright?
[She does look a bit distracted, at least. Not to mention the strangeness of her showing up here at all.]
no subject
[Of course her presence is going to be noted. She doesn't mind that - Dolores loves the students, as if each of them were her own children.]
Yes, I am. Jane, isn't it? Jane Crocker?
no subject
[Jane approaches a little closer.]
It isn't often we get to see you outside the hospital wing, ma'am.
no subject
Much to my own detriment, I'm sure, but I do like to make sure I'm there if something untoward happens. There's never a day goes by when the entire student body manages to keep itself out of trouble.

[She makes no promises, prank-wise.]

As he's passing by the entrance to the hospital wing he hears the humming. He recognizes the tune and it's one he hasn't heard in a long time.
He peeks his head in and notices Dolores humming and twirling and his mood is instantly cheered up a little. He quietly slips in and manages to sneak in without her noticing. He leans in the doorway and just begins singing the words to the song along to the tune. If there's one thing he can't resist it's music.]
Good morning.

Hello, Marshall. It's been a while.
no subject
It has. I've just been kind of hanging out. How about you? Have you been busy since that stupid love potion incident?
no subject
More than you might think. There were several people who believed they were feeling the effects long after it was over.
[She smiles and shakes her head.]
The castle is becoming more mischievous by the day.
no subject
Ugh. I know the feeling all too well. It kinda happened to me and Roderich and the feelings...well, it definately lingered for a while.
[He rests his chin on top of his arms.]
This one was tough to deal with since it didn't just make you feel physically attracted to the other person. It felt so real. I didn't realize that I was actually rather lonely until after it was all over.
I mean, I've had one night stands and stuff plenty of times but I haven't fell in love with anyone since Ashlynne.

A murmured summoning charming, and then he's striding up the aisle to the staff table, holding a bouquet of hellebore flowers, in delicate jade green and deep purple, with a few white blossoms thrown in.]
Dolores. I didn't expect to see you here.
no subject
It's been rather a long time since she was last courted, and it shows in the expression of surprise and faintest dusting of pink which in a living, breathing person would be a furious blush.]
Are you quite sure? You seem well prepared.
no subject
no subject
Quite so.. but it means only that you must try harder in order to impress me.
[Her lips tilt in a cheeky smile, and she steps away from the table.]
What brings you here?

Seeing Dolores out sunning herself wearing not nearly enough, he glances around then comes over, unwinding his scarf and holds it out to her.]
If you're going to act life a sunflower, could you at least wear a scarf so you don't look so god damn cold?
no subject
You mean like this one?
[It's not much of a scarf, really, but she picks up the end of it and flicks it against his nose. The one he's holding out is taken, then wrapped around his neck again.]
Don't worry so, Karkat. I'm alright.
no subject
[He scrunches up his nose as it's flicked at him]
Isn't a scarf, that is an overly long handkerchief, which isn't ever going to keep you warm.
[He huffs and looks away.]
Well I'm not worrying so it's not like it's really something that I have to worry about not having to do. Why are you even out here?
[Yeah, not worrying at all]
no subject
Enjoying the outdoors, for a change.
[She knows you're worrying, Karkat, you grouchy little darling.]
What of you?
no subject
I just came out because I was bored and everyone in the dorm is just so inconsolably annoying about everything ever.

It's a good thing he wears shades all the time, because it means he has an excuse to cover his eyes right now, and the dark bags under them.
He doesn't enter the wing yet, just raps his knuckles against the doorframe.]
no subject
Dirk, are you alright?
no subject
No emergency. Thought I'd stop by to ask a question, if you have the time.
no subject
[She gestures for him to come in, to take a seat if he wishes to.]
