Holiday Ghost Event: Road Less Traveled

WHAT: Due to visiting holiday ghosts, some students and staff find themselves living as they would have if something in their lives did or didn't happen. An alternate version who could be better or worse off!

[At this point, Molly wasn't too sure why she hasn't been affected by this curse. It was the second time in a row that she wasn't sure what was going on but...that was starting to get normal this time of the year. As she was walking down the hallway, she was noticing the castle was up to something again. Everyone was acting rather...strange.

She wasn't sure if she should talk to some of them but if it was anything like the previous event, it wouldn't hurt. So, as she was heading toward the Hufflepuff tower, she noticed Moriarty. She wasn't sure if she should talk to him but he was acting rather strange. The most important feature about him was that he was wearing the Ravenclaw colors. Huh.]

You seem a little different.

[Her voice startled him into looking up and he provided her with a nervous smile.]

I could say the same thing to a lot of people today.

[He let out a soft laugh.]

What's so different about me?

Oh, like what?

[She was still nervous talking to him and he was always able to read her mind. But this time...]

...I thought you were in Slytherin so...why are you wearing Ravenclaw robes?

[He scratched at his arm and stared at her.]

Plenty of things, um, a lot of things are different. I think someone or something is playing a prank on the students. I'm afraid I have not spent a day in my life sorted in Slytherin... quite a few people have told me I'm wrong about that though... I was sorted into Ravenclaw when I first got here.

[He murmured something to himself that his unusual Northern Irish accent made sound like one big word somehow.]

[Castle, water you doing? Molly stared at Moriarty like something was wrong. Was this what happened if he was placed in Ravenclaw then? Hm...]

But...you were in Slytherin...

No, not as far as I'm aware and generally I'm rather aware of my situations.

[He couldn't help but smile sheepishly.]

I'm not sure what's going on, but since I know something odd is, I won't hold you not knowing what house I'm in against you.

Um...okay then?

[Nope, still feels weird talking to Moriarty no matter what AU this is]

Then...can I ask how you've been?

[It's still him either way and she'll try to strike a conversation at least]

[Except he's not a manipulative sociopath in this AU so really, he doesn't understand the nervousness from her.]

I'm sorry, I was joking.

[He blinked, not expecting the question.]

Erm, yeah - yeah, I've been good. How have you been?

[Moriarty? JOKING AND HE MEANS IT? WHAT HAS THIS WORLD COME TO???

Anyway, Molly just stares at him some more. She's not sure how to react to this, she's not use to seeing him being friendly toward her. Not like this]

...R-Right...

I've been good, I haven't been doing much outside of getting ready for Christmas. [And spending time with her mother] I'm afraid there's not much I'm doing though.

[He just hopes Molly doesn't explode, she's acting odd.

He nods gently as she speaks.]

So you're spending time with your family then? How's that going... You know with your family?

[......................wat]

It's...been fine? There's some disagreements here and there but it's nothing that ....bad? [All the unsures]

[His eyebrows knit together before he shrugs.]

Ah, I see. Last time you spoke you were rather unhappy with them.

[He doesn't like this, everything is different and weird.]

[She's not too sure how to feel about this]

...And...when was that?

[She was having family troubles but he never took a real interesting in them before.]

Um, well, last week methinks? I sort of lose track of time sometimes. Could have been longer, honestly...

[He shrugs and eyes her curiously]

I'm sorry, did I upset you?

[She shakes her head.]

No, it's just...

I'm not use to you taking an interesting in my family. At most, you...don't seem to care.

[Someone's frowning at you, Molly.]

[Can you hear the explosion in Molly's brain? Did she just hear what she thought she heard?]

W-What...did you just say?

[His thin eyebrows raise in confusion.]

What part? I've always cared or that you're one of my friends?

Are you okay? I'm really starting to wonder if I should be walking you to the nurse's...

[She shouted before calming down a bit]

And yes...I am okay, I'm...I think I'm okay.

[His eyes widened as he flinched away from her.]

Erm...

Right, okay, yes... Sorry. I didn't mean to upset you...

[Do you feel good about yourself now, Molly!]

[She lets out a mumble]

No, you didn't. It's...a little odd seeing you like this.

You just shouted at me...

[A beat.]

Like what?

It's...just that you never called me a friend before...or that you cared either. So it's a little...shocking to me.

...I really think we should go to the medical area, yeah?

...

Moriarty, I'm fine, I think...I'll get use to this. [Even if it only lasts for so long]

It's really nice though.
