WHAT: Due to visiting holiday ghosts, some students and staff find themselves living as they would have if something in their lives did or didn't happen. An alternate version who could be better or worse off!

[The raven haired male is currently adorned in an unusual color. Ravenclaw blue replaces the typical Slytherin green. His whiskey colored eyes seem to rove around the halls, confusion and slight apprehension very visible on his face. He doesn't recognize a lot of the other students, and the ones he does either seem different or are in the wrong robes. At first he began thinking it's a practical joke then he decided from observing their behavior that it indeed was not.

His posture is defensive, hunching into himself slightly as he makes his way to the Ravenclaw Commonroom. All the while he mutters quietly to himself, making slight observations and asking himself quiet questions. If anyone listens hard enough, they will immediately notice the unfamiliar Portlaoise accent that replaces his typical Dublin accent.

He notices quickly that other people seem disgruntled too, so he assumes that something odd is going on not only to him.]

[Herbert notes the odd robes in passing, then frowns, as he sees the other boy is heading in the same direction as he.]

If you think Ravenclaw robes are going to get you into our tower, Moriarty, you must have hit your head somewhere along the way. You could just have Holmes meet you out here, honestly.

[He looks up startled.]

Erm, pardon? Why would I have him meet me out here?

[Hello northern Irish accent.]

Because you can't go in to our dorms, of course, come on, you're usually cleverer than this. [Herbert narrows his eyes.] Why are you doing a different accent? I mean, if you're trying to disguise yourself, you'd do better to make a potion or at least try to transfigure your face a little.

I'm not - I'm not doing a different accent? And why can't I go in my dorm?

[He tilts his head, curious.

HERBERT YOU SURE ARE ACTING WEIRD.]

You can go into your dorm, you just can't come into ours. Did Kirkland kick you out or something? [He's starting to look at Moriarty a bit suspiciously, though ... he's usually so much more together than this, this is weird.]

...right. Are you feeling alright? Kirkland is in Slytherin, isn't he? I don't see why he'd kick me out if I don't even go in there.

I think something strange is going on...

[preanimator]

[blinks ... and then sighs, rubbing at the bridge of his nose under his glasses] It's the damn castle playing silly buggers again, isn't it? It likes to do it every now and then, but I thought we were in the clear when a bunch of students got turned into little kids.

All right, so let's check facts. You're still Jim Moriarty, right? Except you're in Ravenclaw now instead of Slytherin. Have you still got some weird thing going on with Holmes?

Oh! Yes, I remember that. Rather a pain that one.

[He smiles and ducks his head slightly as he scratches the back of his neck.

Then he looks utterly uncomfortable at the mention of Sherlock.]

Not really? We're friends, aside from that nothing weird.

[He fidgets slightly. Does he have to add the fact that he might be the only one who knows Jim is so far in the closet he's in Narnia?]

Wait - why would I be Slytherin?

[It might be helpful! Not that Herbert cares all that much - he's one of the very few out and gay students at Hogwarts, though it happened because of a spell. He's just noticed Holmes's odd fascination with Moriarity, and has privately speculated, though he's never really asked about it.]

Because that's where you got Sorted. [impatiently] I don't know, because you're clever and ambitious, I guess. Obviously you're smart enough to be in Ravenclaw ... well, now you are. And you sound like you're from somewhere other than Dublin now, so I expect some other things have changed. Holmes would probably know more. [sighs] Which means we'll have to find him.

[He pulls a face, almost looking offended.]

Portlaoise, mate. I'm not fond of Dublin, knobheads flock there.

[He stuffs his hands in his pockets, a nervous habit, but there's a friendly upward tug of his lips.]

Can we not? I'd really rather pass that up.

[His dark amber gaze locks with Herbert's for a brief second then it averts to the ground quickly.]

Are you not going to let me in my dorm then? I'd - I'd rather not go to Slytherin's...

[That really isn't typical behavior, and Herbert frowns briefly.] It's not your dorm, though. I mean, your things won't be up there, and there's no bed for you. I guess you can come up if you want, I don't care. You might get in trouble, though.

[Moriarty wets his lips before chewing at his bottom one.]

I don't like this.

[He purses his lips into a thin line.]

No one else is going to want me in there either, if I'm normally a Slytherin, will they?

[He pauses, thinking.]

I don't want to upset anyone.

[At this point, Molly wasn't too sure why she hasn't been affected by this curse. It was the second time in a row that she wasn't sure what was going on but...that was starting to get normal this time of the year. As she was walking down the hallway, she was noticing the castle was up to something again. Everyone was acting rather...strange.

She wasn't sure if she should talk to some of them but if it was anything like the previous event, it wouldn't hurt. So, as she was heading toward the Hufflepuff tower, she noticed Moriarty. She wasn't sure if she should talk to him but he was acting rather strange. The most important feature about him was that he was wearing the Ravenclaw colors. Huh.]

You seem a little different.

[Her voice startled him into looking up and he provided her with a nervous smile.]

I could say the same thing to a lot of people today.

[He let out a soft laugh.]

What's so different about me?

Oh, like what?

[She was still nervous talking to him and he was always able to read her mind. But this time...]

...I thought you were in Slytherin so...why are you wearing Ravenclaw robes?

[He scratched at his arm and stared at her.]

Plenty of things, um, a lot of things are different. I think someone or something is playing a prank on the students. I'm afraid I have not spent a day in my life sorted in Slytherin... quite a few people have told me I'm wrong about that though... I was sorted into Ravenclaw when I first got here.

[He murmured something to himself that his unusual Northern Irish accent made sound like one big word somehow.]

[Castle, water you doing? Molly stared at Moriarty like something was wrong. Was this what happened if he was placed in Ravenclaw then? Hm...]

But...you were in Slytherin...

No, not as far as I'm aware and generally I'm rather aware of my situations.

[He couldn't help but smile sheepishly.]

I'm not sure what's going on, but since I know something odd is, I won't hold you not knowing what house I'm in against you.

[Nope, still feels weird talking to Moriarty no matter what AU this is]

Then...can I ask how you've been?

[It's still him either way and she'll try to strike a conversation at least]

[Except he's not a manipulative sociopath in this AU so really, he doesn't understand the nervousness from her.]

[He blinked, not expecting the question.]

Erm, yeah - yeah, I've been good. How have you been?

[Moriarty? JOKING AND HE MEANS IT? WHAT HAS THIS WORLD COME TO???

Anyway, Molly just stares at him some more. She's not sure how to react to this, she's not use to seeing him being friendly toward her. Not like this]

...R-Right...

I've been good, I haven't been doing much outside of getting ready for Christmas. [And spending time with her mother] I'm afraid there's not much I'm doing though.

[He just hopes Molly doesn't explode, she's acting odd.

He nods gently as she speaks.]

So you're spending time with your family then? How's that going... You know with your family?

Ah, I see. Last time you spoke you were rather unhappy with them.

[He doesn't like this, everything is different and weird.]
