WHAT: Ravenclaw and Gryffindor are rained out of house and home, and are forced to bunk with the Slytherin/Ravenclaws for a week.

[He looks a little embarassed.]

Yuuup sure is. And before you go into the outfit, everyone dressed like that back then.

[He points to three other ones that also have him in it.]
I didn't come back for my Fifth year. Well..I did but I got suspended before picture day. And then later that year I was turned.

Wow I'm glad they had some sense to change the uniform over the last hundred years.

[She just grins and leans forward to examine them before she looks at him, pausing. He hadn't told her much about how he was turned, but she was curious now.]

What'd you do that made you get suspended?

Yeah, no kidding. Regular clothes weren't much better. We all looked like Oliver Twist or something.

[He doesn't mind talking about it. It's actually nice just to have someone to talk to about it.]

Oh, I got into a fight..beat the other kid up pretty badly. little punk had it coming though..
I got susupended and just left. I didn't even really go home. We were kinda poor and I didn't want my Mom to have to try and provide for both of us so I just struck out on my own.

[When he says the last part, she bites her bottom lip a little in mild shame. Here she was, practically run away from home and not talking to her dad because of a stupid argument over fries of all things, not to mention they were pretty well off, and he'd left home because he didn't want to burden his mother more than she should've been. Marceline gives the arm behind her back a small rub before speaking, looking at him.]

Did you ever see her again?

[He glances sideways at her and notices she seems quiet. He hopes he's not making her uncomfortable by spilling his guts like this. He hesitates a moment before telling her the truth.]

No..I would write to her and tell her what I was doing before I was turned. Afterwards though...[He makes a questioning gesture with his hands] I mean, what could I say? I didn't want her to know so I just..I dunno... [He trailed off and puts his hands in his pockets and looks down]
I didn't want her to see what I became. I'd rather she remember me the way I was you know?

[She guessed she could understand that. Had things been a little different, she probably wouldn't want her dad to know either. She shoved her hands into her pockets, hunching her shoulders a bit.]

Yeah. My friends might be cool with it but...sometimes I think about what my dad would say. How he'd react and all. I mean, if he hadn't eaten my damn fries I probably wouldn't have started not going home and I wouldn't have met Ash...

[He sighs and runs his hand through his hair]
Parents and kids not getting each other...That's one thing that hasn't changed in over a hundred years.
[He moves a little closer and looks directly at her.]
It doesn't really do any good to think about what might have happened if you hadn't made a decision though. You just have to make the best out of the present.
If I had just went home maybe I wouldn't have played in taverns and maybe I wouldn't have met Ashlynne.
[He paused a minute and made a face.]
Man, what's with vampire assholes having names that start with 'Ash' anyways?

[Marceline avoids looking at him, glancing away as she scuffs her boot against the floor of the room. In a way he was right. She had spent a little too long thinking about how things might've been. At his question she looks back at him, shrugging with a roll of her eyes.]

Must've been a popular name at the time.

[Now he felt bad making her feel bad. He slings his arm around her in a brotherly way and gives a squeeze]

C'mon. I didn't bring you here to make you feel sad. I brought you here so you could laugh at my expense.
Let's not think about the bad stuff tonight ok?

[She gives a small, apologetic smile before she rubs the back of her neck sheepishly.]

Sorry. I've had a lot of things on my mind lately.

[He lets go and smiles.]

I know..it'll take some getting used to with all these people around.
