WHAT: Ravenclaw and Gryffindor are rained out of house and home, and are forced to bunk with the Slytherin/Ravenclaws for a week.

[There's a vague gesture to what she's writing]

[She shows him, the pages fill with neat cursive, all the b's resembling 8's and her ink a pretty blue]

It's such a rare opportunity to see the inside of another houses compartments, I wanted to have a record to later refer to.

[He takes a better look, and yes that is a faint blush on his face]

Have you ventured out of the common room yet?

Oh I briefly saw some of the girl's dorms, but no, not really. Not there's really a rush, we'll all be stuck together for the week, won't we!

You have a beautiful view of the lake her though. [What blush she is busy absorbing knoweledge!!!]

I don't know if I'd call it a 'view'..

There are some spots further in where you can see through the walls, though.

I suppose the lightening can take some getting used to, yes. Do you see many of the creatures swim by though?

Oh, I'd love to see. Would you mind guiding me? I'm Aranea Serket, by the way, Ravenclaw 5th year Prefect.

I.. Yeah, I can do that. I'm Arthur. Um. Arthur Kirkland. Sixth year.

[He smiles, and gives a small gesture to the far end of the common room. It's rather certain, in his mind, that his openness won't be appreciated by some of the more traditional members of his House.. but Arthur couldn't really care less]

Over this way. Watch your feet. Some of us keep spiders as pets.

Oh. Are you related to Victoria, by any chance?

[She follows him easily, writing supplies clasped tightly as she does so, making sure not to trip over other's belongings. But she chuckles at the mention of spiders]

Vriska, correct?

Hm? Ah, yes, Victoria is my cousin. You know her?

[Arthur laughs a little then and shakes his head]

I don't know about Vriska, but Eriq Slepner has one the size of your head.

[taleweaving]

Yes, she's one of my roommates. We get along quite well most of the time. Her rabbits are adorable.

[Chuckles with him]

Ah, Trollki, I should have guessed. And Eriq probably lets him loose on purpose.

Yes.. Trollki.

[He's still not used to the thing, even after spending so long sleeping in the same room as it. Him. Whatever]

And he does, the little sod, but I'm used to it by now. The things I put up with for my friends.

[taleweaving]

[Another little chuckle] He can be quite scary with how big he is, I know. I can't imagine what it'd be like to be an arachnophobe in that room.

A sign of true friendship. I'm sure Eriq is grateful for it.

You wouldn't be an arachnophobe in that room. You be out of it, sleeping on the other side of the bloody lake.

[The blond boy smiles at her again, and rubs the back of his neck]

I like to think he is. He was the first friend I made here.

Now though, I do wonder how one would have to combat that... Forcing Eriq to give Trollki up would be cruel, but it would be just as cruel to make some so scared of him live in the same room.

[Warm smile.]

That's good to hear. He can often be a bit difficult when he wants to be. Which naturally can affect a lot of friendships. But he means well, most of the time.

After five years of him I know how difficult he can be.

[It's darker and far quieter at this end of the common room, and Arthur pauses in front of a bookcase, scanning the titles]

I'll admit I didn't like him at all, at first... but then my brothers started picking on him, and I couldn't abide that.

Yes, I imagine even better than I do, having shared a room with him.

[She skims herself, looking for anything she hasn't seen in either the Ravenclaw common room or the library, tucking hair behind her ears as she gets to it]

Oh... yes, Victoria's mentioned how awful some of her cousins can be, assumably referring to your brothers. It's sad to hear that they do live up to what she was saying then. But good to know that you haven't been changed by them to being more like them.

[It's a few moments before he finds what he's looking for, and draws a book out - it doesn't leave the case, but tilts, and the bookcase shifts]

Only two of them. David - the eldest - he isn't like them, but he tends to take a mostly neutral stance in anything that goes on. I can't say I blame him.

[taleweaving]

[The sound gets Aranea to look up, a book of her own already pulled out, though that's more for reading] Oh! One of the secret passageways, how exciting.

[Sorry Arthur she's too busy trying to work out how the passage way works to properly maintain the conversation though she does try] Well that's at least something, right? I grew up an only child so I've never had a good idea how sibling relations work, besides what I know from books and some television shows.

You'll find the best.. ah.. 'views' are down this way.

[A flicker of a smirk follows that remark and although it takes a bit of effort on his part the bookcase eventually slides across enough to let them through]

And believe me, when it comes to siblings, reality is often stranger than fiction.

[She lifts an eyebrow at the inflection he puts on views, only now starting to wonder what it is he's planning] I see.

[Carefully she steps past Arthur, somehow managing to juggle her ink, quill and notebook and retrieve her wand, and flick it with the soft mutter of 'Lumos Maxima' the ball of light falling from her wand easily to bob above their heads]

So I've been told, but I still think I would have loved a sibling... You always want what you don't have I suppose.

I'll willingly give you one of mine.

[What he means by 'views' becomes clear enough as they continue to walk along the hallway. Every now and then, the walls appear to be cracking, letting a small amount of dull greenish light through. Gradually, the cracks widen to show large windows of water held back by what is presumably magic. It's dark, but the water seems to have a luminescence all of its own, and faint shadows can be seen flitting about in the depths]

... Told you.

I don't know, I think I was always born to be the older sister, not the younger.

[She's too bossy to be the younger after all. But she follows Arthur calmly, the ball of light following her and lighting up the shadows. The cracks catch her attention here and there, but Arthur keeps moving and so does she.

And it's worth it once she sees what he was referring to. Stopping, with a soft gasp she can't help but stare, trying to work out mentally what the shapes are]

Oh... It's beautiful. I'm so jealous, Ravenclaw tower has nothing that even compares to this.

Wait for it..

[He looks just a little smug, and a minute or so later shows why as a huge, dark shape passes over them, plunging the corridor into near complete darkness for several seconds before fading away into the distance]

Heh. I'm not sure I'd compare this to the view you must have of the sky on clear nights, but you did want to have a look around.

[taleweaving]

[Her gasp is obvious, Aranea nearly dropping her things as she hurries over to one of the glasses windows, careful not to touch in case it somehow disturbs the magic. But she needs to see, half hoping that perhaps a merfolk will swim by.]

Oh there's only so many times you can look at the sky before you have all the constellations memorized. This though, this is gorgeous. [She half turns to him, gracing him with a beaming smile] Thank you Arthur.

[He watches her amazement with an idle smile on his lips, but when she turns to him and thanks him, his eyes widen briefly and he clears his throat, reddening slightly]

Tch.. It's nothing to thank me for..

[Arthur looks away, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly]
