[Oh heeey Eriq.]

Oh, awesome. So..uh..how does the dorm work anyways? Do we have assigned stuff or is it every man for himself?

[Hi]

Once you pick out your bed, it's yours. [He shrugs] You're not supposed to go into the other years, or the girl's dorms, but that doesn't exactly STOP some people.

Huh..that seems easy enough. I was worried it would be something dumb like bunk beds or something.

[He chuckles at the comment about other dorms.]
Well, I understand about not going into the girls dorms I guess..and I suppose it helps keep pranking down on the firsties. [He shifts and looks around the common room.]

So..do people actually hang out here a lot? I'm just asking because I don't want to buy anyone when I want to play guitar...

[He wrinkles his nose up at the very thought of bunk beds

Ugh, no, how inelegant. We each have four-post beds with curtains for privacy. They're queem sized, as well.

[Following Marshall's look around the common room, he shrugs.] Generally, yes. We all usually keep to ourselves, as you can see, with the exception of Georgia, who can be found all over any eligible boy she can get her grubby hands on. [Yes, he saw the way she was fawning over Marshall earlier. Might be just a small hint of jealousy in his voice about it, too] I don't think a small bit of music should bother anyone, as long as you're not playing anything awful like that American Country Western or hip hop.

Privacy curtains huh? That's awesome. I don't sleep well if a room is well lit.
[He grins even wider at the catty comment regarding Georgia. He's not going to lie..he loves all the attention he can get and no worries..there's plenty of him to go around! His look changes to one of disgust at the mention of country western or hip hop]

Oh hell no. I won't play that stuff for myself like, ever. I'd only play it if someone ever requested it. [He quirks his lips into a wry grin.] ..and even then it would totally be under protest. I'm more of the rock and alternative type myself..maybe a few pop things in there for fun.
[He tilts his head to the side.]
So..what kind of music do you like?

Nor do you do well in train cars of the description, I noticed.

[Oh Marshall, who said he was jealous of you? Sure, you're dark, punky, mysterious, and totally smoking hot, but have you seen Georgia's knockers? She never gives him any attention]

[His brightens visibly at the mention of alternative music]

Just how alternative are we talking? Because these days I find most teenagers our age think listening to the likes of Panic! At the Disco and Fallout Boy is all it takes to consider themselves alternative while completely overlooking the pioneers of the genre simply because they existed before the turn of the millennium. Myself, I'm fond of the likes of Rasputina, Abney Park, and Radiohead, and I might even go as far as to express a certain appreciation for the Acid Rock of the 70s, having a particular taste for the Hammond Organs that were so prevalent at the time.

[He smiled outwardly but inwardly he noted that this guy seemed pretty observant.]
Yeah, I didn't get much sleep the day before we left.
[He's arrogant and knows you have a thing for vampires so like all teenage boys he'll assume everything is about him. Some things never change.]

Oh..no that's not alternative to me. That's new wave stuff. There really aren't many true alternative bands out there anymore. When I talk about alternative I mean groups like Nirvana and Mudhoney..early to late 90's stuff.
I know of Rasputina and Radiohead but I've never really listened to Abney Park or Hammond Organs. I'll have to check them out. For 70's stuff I do really like The Cure.

Seems to be a common malady on the day before school. Although I must say, you seemed fairly refreshed by the time I stumbled in.

[Maybe if he put two and two together to realize you're a vampire, Marsh.]

[Although, this music talk is definitely getting you there]

Oh my god, I love The Cure! I just- Half the time when I bring them up, either get Looks, or they have no idea who I'm talking about.
marshall_lee: BYcatonbear (Default)

Oh god how did that super tiny text happen? I'm so sorry!

[personal profile] marshall_lee 2012-09-05 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah..I just relaxed as much as I could. I put off packing until the last minute so I was up a while.

[Marshall likes nearly all music. He tries not to talk about it like he was there but...]

Whaaat? How can people not know who The Cure is?! If you're a Muggle or Muggleborn theres no freaking excuse. Even if they might not know who sings it, EVERYONE knows "Friday I'm in Love". And if they don't..they should.
eighttimeshandy: (pic#4597428)

Haha, a couple of your tags have shown up that way for me, it's cool

[personal profile] eighttimeshandy 2012-09-05 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Also a common malady. [He rolls his eyes, shaking his head] Trollki is always the only thing I wait until last minute to deal with, and that's because, well... spider. [shrug]

[Is he swooning? Eriq is trying really hard not to look like he's swooning. This means his nails are digging into the palms of his hands and he's standing weirdly straight]
To be fair, most of the people in Slytherin aren't muggleborn, and really, quite a few of them are snobs about it. Trying to have a conversation about any muggle music is nigh impossible. Or muggle anything, really.
marshall_lee: BYcatonbear (Default)

Oh lord. >_<

[personal profile] marshall_lee 2012-09-05 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeeeah I saw you had one of those.

[Marshall notices but he's not sure if he's making Eriq uncomfortable or...?]

That's true I suppose. Too bad for them..they're missing out on some awesome stuff. No offense to Wizards but since they don't have access to electronics their music all sounds kinda old and the metaphors they use are just cheesey. [He smiles] I plan on putting on some shows here at school though..probably with the music club Marceline is starting. Then everyone can hear good stuff.

[Oh, senpai noticed he has a spider! Kyaaaaaaa]

I love my precious little bloodsuckers. [snicker] And Trollki is the sweetest little baby you will ever meet! As long as you're not the size of a baby, anyway.

I know, right? Sometimes I feel like I should be wearing goggles and corsets, with the way some people act. Not that they would get it. [eyeroll and a shrug]

[He smiles sweetly then, leaning towards Marshall with his hands folded behind his back]
I can't wait to see your shows. Although, in the mean time, if you like, I have a phonograph and a few vinyls. The sound quality isn't very great without the appropriate speakers, but at least it's music, right?

[Yeeeah..Marshall doesn't mind as long as he never finds it in his bed. His lips quirk in wry smile at the mention of loving bloodsuckers.]
Just be careful he doesn't get out. I don't think many people would look too favorably on him running loose...
[He brightens visibly at the mention of a phonograph and vinyls. Marshall loves vinyls. He has a record player and speakers at home but a phonograph is something he hasn't seen in a while.]
I hope the shows go over okay. You do? That's awesome actually! I love vinyl. I have a record player and speakers back home myself. I'd love to listen sometime. Any music is better than none.
