School Year Starting Logs: Train + Feast/Sorting!

WHO: Everyone!
TONE: Anything!

WHEN: The day of September 2nd for the train, and at night for the feast!
WHERE: Hogwarts Express/Platform 9 3/4 and The Great Hall
WHAT: Gotta get back to Hogwarts! Back to witches and wizards and magical feasts! Students and teachers are finally heading back to school on the Hogwarts express, and with the new school year means sorting for the first years!
STATUS: Ongoing!
NOTE: There is a thread for the Train back to Hogwarts, and the Feast, with a subthread for the Sorting! First years can comment to be sorted, and everyone else can greet their new house mates/students!

[Jade is not actually sitting and waiting in a compartment for something to happen. She has nothing valuable with her, no one would steal her stuff, so she's abandoned it and is now crashing randomly into other compartments looking for people she knows.

She's EXCIIIIIIIITED!]

[Tavros has also decided to go exploring!

And it just so happens that he's coming out of his compartment as she's coming in. He bumps into her, which sends him falling to the floor. He lands hard on his bottom and lets out an 'Oomph!' noise, before realizing who he just bumped into.]

Hi, how have you been doing? I'm so sorry for the sudden meeting, but I just can't sit still!

[He takes it, pulling himself to his feet. He tries not to let her notice how butthurt he is- literally, because ow.]

It's okay! I think that, uh, we both just forgot to look where we were going. And, I've been good. And I also can't sit still! Because, I'm actually really excited to get back to school.

[Ahh, screw it, he's getting a hug.]

I am too, I am too! Oh my gosh, we're fourth years now! It seems like just yesterday we were coming up here the first time and getting sorted, it's soooo cool to realize stuff like this!

[Fuck. long. train rides. Seriously. He runs into someone he knows every time he gets up to go to the bathroom. Wait, what's that Karkat? You gave up on your crush on Jade? Sorry, we didn't register that. Please hang up and try again.]

[Wow, and he actually said hi. Maybe he's excited about getting back to Hogwarts too!]

[And that's when he realizes he kind of...hasn't spoken to her for ages. Wow. At least not directly. Maybe been talked at but he'd been keeping his distance since she got together with Dave. He rolls his eyes.]

Oh, don't be silly, it's not Hell! Hogwarts is wonderful, you can spend all your time studying or doing magic or being with your friends--[she giggles and puts a hand on his shoulder.] Like you, crabby pants! It seems like it's been ages since I saw you!

[Jake watches her crash into a compartment just ahead of him, and wow if she isn't the spitting image of his grandmother were she considerably closer to his age. He gawps for a while before he finally speaks up.]

Erm-- Jade, isn't it?

That's me!

[Unfamiliar bitty, though! She tilts her head at him as if to view him from a different angle, still smiling.]

You must be new. Are you a first year? How did you know about me?

[It's absolutely uncanny. He smiles a touch.]

We spoke over the journals. You're absolutely the spitting image of my grandmother, in teenage form.

[He stares for another minute before he catches himself, stepping forward and offering her a hand to shake.]

Jake English.

Oh! You are the uncanny Jake, then! [She returns the gesture with all the enthusiasm of an excitable dog. She would say that Jake looks the same as her grandfather as a young man, but her grandfather's appearance in photos isn't something that warranted a reminder tie.]

My name is Jade Harley! It's super cool to finally meet you in person, Jake!

[He laughs a bit at her excitement, squeezing her hand before he lets it go.]

Ah, same to you. Salutations and it's delightful to meet you. Is the train always this busy?

Of course you would see me eventually. I would be saddened if we did not.

I'm doing well. I assume you had an enjoyable Summer, yourself. I'm looking forward to this year.

Me too! Can you believe we're fourth years now? Next year we'll be doing our OWLs and before you know it, we will be graduating!

But I hope we can at least have some fun before the inevitability of having to do adult things, hehehe.

I'm looking forward to next year. I hope I'm not the only one of us who intends to get Prefect status. [She smiles softly. Already fourth years. She wonders what will happen after.]
