WHAT: There is a huge festival the whole week to let students get school supplies. People from all over are flocking to Diagon Alley for the best deals. That means you might meet new people or see old friends!
STATUS: Ongoing!

[ Frankly, Equius is surprised to see the girl carrying so many books with so little trouble! She must be quite STRONG. That in itself is worthy of commendation, to him. ]

It is not often that I see a student of your size carry such a burden so easily. How do you do it?

Hm? [She looks at him, and then back at the books, as if she just noticed how many she had.] Oh, I'm just used to it, I guess. I like to help the librarian out with shelving, too, when I have free time.

[ Huh. It wasn't quite as surprising now. ]

Are all of those for your classes?

No, I've got most of my schoolbooks already. These are mostly for personal reading.

[strongjumps]

[ Yep, he's surprised again. ]

Have you already read all of your schoolbooks?

[fuckilovebooks]

I try to read ahead when I can. I find that it helps me understand the principles of a lesson better if I already have a framework for them.

Yes, that makes sense. But how do you have enough time to read so many other books?

Oh, I always manage to make time for reading.

...A Ravenclaw, I assume?

I suppose that's obvious, isn't it.

[ A chuckle, and then with all the sarcasm in the world... ]

Well, you could be a particularly brilliant Gryffindor or Hufflepuff or something.

[She's kind of oblivious.]

That's true-- I know plenty of gifted students in other houses.

[strongjumps]

[ Mental facepalming so hard. ]

Do you now? I'm going into my fourth year, and I've never seen anyone of note from either of them.

[ Barring Nepeta, but still. Exception. ]

Not always in terms of studying or memorizing trivia, of course, but everyone's skills manifest in different ways. Gryffindors tend to be more skilled at practical magic, and Hufflepuffs make good negotiators and mediators.

[ He scoffs. ]

Isn't all magic practical?

As opposed to theory and research, I mean.

I assume that falls under the realm of Ravenclaw, then.

[ A slight groan. ]

Then what, may I ask, would a Slytherin be proficient at? Between theory, practice, and negotiation, there seems to be little left.

In my experience, Slytherins tend to be excellent tacticians.

[ The ego, it has been inflated. ]

Unsurprising. Of the four strengths you mentioned, which do you believe is the most valuable?

[ There is only one right answer. ]

Well, they're all valuable in their own way, of course. To accomplish great things you need to have a balance of abilities, not just one.

[strongjumps]

[ Staring at her. Not pleased in the slightest. She somehow evaded both the right and wrong answers. ]

You did not answer the question. It is true that a balance is needed, but which one is the most important?

Well, it's hard to say... I think it would depend on the situation at hand.

I suppose it would depend, though. In this situation, you could benefit from some practical applications of all of that theoretical Ravenclaw knowledge. Or the ability to negotiate with me and answer the question. Or the ability to tactically steer the conversation in your favor.

[ And then a derisive chuckle. He's really interested in how she'll respond, to say the least. ]

I think it's fairly obvious what you want me to say. But if I said cunning was the most important just to appease you, would it really be satisfying?

It appears as though you are not quite as oblivious as I thought. Impressive.

[ But the enjoyment quickly leaves his face, replaced with a look of slight disgust. ]

Would it really be satisfying if I told you that I did not care for your opinion, even if it did agree with mine?
