[He was standing around by the entrance, but now that he's spotted the other fifth years, he's going to make his way over to hang out with them. He listens for a little while before emitting a derisively skeptical laugh.]

And you believed it?

[He looks up and gives a wry smile]

Yeah man, it literally ate that shit up. I doubt it actually caught the hawk but it had no problems chowing down on it. I wonder if that could be considered cannibalism?

[He's not sure if he can believe that or not, but he remembers seeing photos of that anaconda that ate an alligator, so maybe that's a thing that that can happen too. He's visibly looking for the biggest owl now.]

I'm not sure, because that's a goddamn normal thing. At least, with the hawks eating smaller birds. D'you know what kind of owl it was?

[Marshall shrugs.]
I dunno..it was a baby one so it was all fuzzy and stuff so you really couldn't tell. It was a pretty big baby though.

[He leans down and attempts to peer inside the shop. No way could he go inside, the animals would probably go nuts.]

I think there's a Great Horned owl inside..I think they get pretty big too..

Winchester's right. Birds eat each other all the time.

[And now he's picturing a baby owl ravenously devouring a hawk. Euugghh...
He looks over at Marshall, doing his level best to make his cringe look like a noncommittal shrug.]

But a baby owl couldn't... I bet the hawk was already dead. Or injured... How big was the hawk?

Huh. I didn't think they'd really bother.
[Well, now that everyone is uncomfortable...Subject change!]

You really couldn't tell..it looked like..well, like a mess of feathers. But the mess looked close to the size of the baby.
Weirdest shit was that the baby was on ground. I thought maybe it fell out of the nest so it's Mom decided to just feed it there.

Birds are weird. Still pretty badass, though. But I guess that would just make it easier to do in general. Depending upon the nest size, trying to lug it up into wherever would be inconvenient.

[He's a bit distracted, looking over these owls. THERE'S JUST SO MANY TO CHOOSE FROM. And then he sees it. The most perfect owl. According to the sign beneath the cage, it's a Lapland Owl, and it's huge. He guesses it's about thirty inches, because come on, what is even the metric system!]

I'm gonna get this one.
bonafide_divinity: (We've been around a long time)

[He shakes his head, frowning contemplatively.] That doesn't add up. It's mum would have killed the hawk midair and flown it back to the nest. Leaving it on the ground would have taken more effort. I bet the baby owl just happened to find a dead hawk and-- Wait, that one?

[He leans over, examining the owl in question. That's... A very big owl. Probably around 75 centimeters, if he were to hazard a guess.]

A Lapland owl? It's probably Swedish.

[Marshall shrugs. Animals didn't like him much so he avoided them whenever he could. He peered in the window at the one Dean was pointing at. It was pretty big.]

That's a big ass owl. One that size would be pretty good for delivering and getting packages and stuff.

[That would be good for multiple reasons. Really, it just seems like this would be the best purchase. The only problem? The lack of space in the Impala. But that could be dealt with later.]

Unless it impaled the hawk midflight or something. If snakes can eat gators, why not.

Yeah. It looks fuckin' badass. It could probably eat a small cat, damn.
