[Brooms have little interest to Chiara. They're shaky, uncomfortable and destroy any attempts at a good hairstyle. Apparating is best, and even those muggle cars aren't so bad. More comfortable at least.

So it's easier to find her inspecting the greenhouses, making notes of plants she'll need to find over the summer break.]
itsintheblood: (Tess >> Down to business)

You haven't seen any Fanged Geraniums around, have you?
tomatatas: (Out of love)

[personal profile] tomatatas 2012-06-10 07:41 am (UTC)(link)
To the left, 3 rows down. You'll need the keys to the cage though. [Only after speaking does Chiara look up, putting her notebook with all her scribbled Italian aside.]

Potions or simply interest?

itsintheblood: (Tess >> I won)

[personal profile] itsintheblood 2012-06-10 07:45 am (UTC)(link)
Potions O.W.L's to be exact. I wasn't able to bring my own before taking my position here.
tomatatas: (Have you turned to stone?)

[personal profile] tomatatas 2012-06-10 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
Do you have any idea how many you'll need? I always tend to keep a limited supply, and it seems the school follows that ideas. But I'd be able to arrange for more if needed.
itsintheblood: (Tess >> It doesn't look like you're work)

[personal profile] itsintheblood 2012-06-10 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Two should be sufficient. I don't need them now, but needed to know we had them. I can come pick them up later this week, you'll have your own exams to worry about.
tomatatas: (You’re great)

[personal profile] tomatatas 2012-06-11 10:53 am (UTC)(link)
I'll put two aside for you then. And it's no problem, another teacher is covering this years exams. They're retiring this year, and I am to be the replacement. I decided to come and check the greenhouses, as well as what sort of curriculum I should begin planning to get an early start. Get a... grasp, so to say?
quasistellar: (Default)

let's see how fast they get to insulting each other

[personal profile] quasistellar 2012-06-10 07:37 am (UTC)(link)
[Constance does, eventually, finish her business in the towers and is on her way outside, where she notices someone she doesn't recognize.]

...hm. Herbology? Interesting...
tomatatas: (When you were young)

I give 5 minutes

[personal profile] tomatatas 2012-06-10 07:43 am (UTC)(link)
[The new woman gets a glance, before Chiara finishes scribbling down something]

Is it? There are much flashier forms of magic. Very few find herbology genuinely interesting.
quasistellar: ([human] a bit impressed)

[personal profile] quasistellar 2012-06-10 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I take it you're one of them? I was always one for the skies, myself.
tomatatas: (Unbelievable)

[personal profile] tomatatas 2012-06-11 10:55 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't be teaching it if I wasn't. [Still taking notes] I never was one for astrology. Too busy in the day for late nights to stare at some lights. But each to their own, as the English say.
quasistellar: ([human] how about no?)

[personal profile] quasistellar 2012-06-11 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[SOME LIGHTS?! Oh no, she didn't.]

Those 'lights' are my passion. They're more than just twinkly things to look at. Unlike your pretty flowers.
tomatatas: (Lots of up and low)

[personal profile] tomatatas 2012-06-11 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh yes she did]

And I'm sure it's a very good and useful passion. As for pretty flowers, I rarely keep those. Only plants that can be used in potions, spells or cooking. Even the Fanged Geraniums have a use.
quasistellar: ([human] I'll hear you out)

[personal profile] quasistellar 2012-06-11 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
One couldn't navigate without the stars. Or know when to plant, or what signs to watch out for when one has the need for a specific effect for a spell.

Of course, plants have their uses, but you can't navigate with one.
tomatatas: (I’ll let you think twice)

[personal profile] tomatatas 2012-06-11 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
There are compasses these days. Maps as well. We are no longer Romans, leaving our fates up to the hands of our Gods and watching the skies for omens.

You may not be able to navigate with a plant but you can heal. Feed. Create needed potions. Important uses. [Continues going around taking notes, stepping neatly around Condy]
quasistellar: ([human] no. stop.)

[personal profile] quasistellar 2012-06-11 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Just because you're too nearsighted to see outside the garden walls doesn't mean we all are.

[Condy just laughs.]

Some of us only see the ground, I suppose. Others dream of the stars.
tomatatas: (I'm not here looking)

[personal profile] tomatatas 2012-06-11 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I see enough from my greenhouses. Often in closer detail than one who stares at lights would.

[Tiny, couldn't care less shrug]

Yes some of us do prefer to live a practical, realistic life than chasing fantasies.
quasistellar: ([human] how about no?)

[personal profile] quasistellar 2012-06-11 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure you do. What with bugs and such.

[...]

Did you just say that?
tomatatas: (I’m sure you’ll smile)

[personal profile] tomatatas 2012-06-12 10:27 am (UTC)(link)
Oh I've had my fair share of pests.

[Including you.]

Well I don't keep any speaking plants here, so I suppose it must have been one of us.
psychiatricfieldday: (Guuurl)

[personal profile] psychiatricfieldday 2012-06-10 07:46 am (UTC)(link)
[To be honest, he has very little interest in plants. At least of the non-deadly variety. Mandrakes could be very useful, if one could find a way to concentrate their screams in a way that would not turn back on yourself.

So if Chiara sees him bending over a few pots, poking and prodding and humming to himself, she should proooobably be a bit concerned over his intentions.]
tomatatas: (The undone and the divine)

[personal profile] tomatatas 2012-06-10 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
[And stop she does, quill poised above paper as she stares at the man bent over her pots]

Can I help you?
psychiatricfieldday: (Bluh.)

[personal profile] psychiatricfieldday 2012-06-10 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
[He doesn't look back at her, tapping a pot thoughtfully.]

You have quite the collection of deadly plants. I'm surprised the school would let you keep them where students can easily access.
tomatatas: (We'll build our altar here)

[personal profile] tomatatas 2012-06-10 08:23 am (UTC)(link)
[And she'll just be putting aside her quill and notes now, just in case she needs both hands free.]

Immature mandrakes are considered one of the safer plants, once you take the necessary precautions. As for the deadly, there are plenty of charms to keep them and students safe from each other.

Now. Can I help you? This is currently an unopen greenhouse.
