there's more to this brave adventure than you believe

WHO: Vriska Serket & YOU
TONE: Pretty casual?
RATING: PG to PG-13
WHEN: Sunday afternoon.
WHERE: The Great Hall
WHAT: Vriska is playing a game of Wizard's Chess by herself. Come and join her!
STATUS: Open and on-going.

So it was a little difficult to play chess by herself, but after a few stalemate rounds she managed to get into the grove of battling herself for victory. She got the idea over winter break when there was literally nothing for her to do but knit scarves for her great aunt and feed Nicholas, her Greenbottle Blue tarantula. It was a very long break for her, unfortunately.

"Knight to E5." Her words were still heavily accented from her native tongue, but at least understandable. Earlier she had weakly justified this game as speech practice (although it really wasn't, but the idea that it was made her feel better about playing it over and over) and she would stick with that reason.

"Can't get much worse than you, you were ugly to begin with," he drawled, trying to adopt a casual slouch in the chair opposite of her. It looked like he'd been stricken with palsy of the self-respect. "Waitin' for a real opponent to take pity on you?"

His sneer grew a bit more pronounced; long practice had gotten haughty lip-curling down to an art.

"I could be a goddamn master, how would you know? You're too much of a coward to try and face me on any kind a' fuckin' level playin' field, if you can't stack the game in your favor you won't ever fuckin' play."

It's hard to feel deeply insulted when she can't hardly put the sentences together. Eridan just started to smirk, the pitying look of those who knew their superiority was absolutely guaranteed, as he started to move the pieces back into position.

"The magnanimity is all mine, Vris, in lettin' you have a chance at tryin' to prove yourself. You can even take first move."
