WHEN: Sunday afternoon.
WHERE: The Great Hall
WHAT: Vriska is playing a game of Wizard's Chess by herself. Come and join her!
STATUS: Open and on-going.

So it was a little difficult to play chess by herself, but after a few stalemate rounds she managed to get into the grove of battling herself for victory. She got the idea over winter break when there was literally nothing for her to do but knit scarves for her great aunt and feed Nicholas, her Greenbottle Blue tarantula. It was a very long break for her, unfortunately.

"Knight to E5." Her words were still heavily accented from her native tongue, but at least understandable. Earlier she had weakly justified this game as speech practice (although it really wasn't, but the idea that it was made her feel better about playing it over and over) and she would stick with that reason.

She looked him over, as if sizing him up despite being a professor. After a brief moment of hesitation she straightens up a little.

"Vriska Serket." She gave him a cute little smile to tag along with her answer.

"Lovely name," he said idly, his eyes back on the chess board for a moment. Then he looked up and smiled. "I don't supposed you've signed up for my class, Miss Serket?"

She rolled her next words over in her head, trying to put a little effort in making herself understandable. Speaking English was possibly the most infuriating thing she had ever dealt with and it put her at a considerable disadvantage with interacting with other students and professors. It garnered her a less than desirable reputation for being quiet when really, she wasn't.

"No." And then she added with a small pause. "Is muggle class, yes?"

Facilier's expression became a bit cold at her question. "In a sense. I don't suppose that's a problem, is it?"

At his change of expression she pulled her arms a little closer to her body. It would be her luck to make an enemy out of a professor because of her poor English vocabulary. "No... Is not a problem? Just a curious." Despite the extreme pro-pureblood environment she grew up in until Hogwarts Vriska never could get herself to care very much what kind of blood someone had. Blood didn't seem to factor in for someone's personality, in her experience.

And as quickly as his dark expression had come, it was gone, and he was smiling again. "Glad to hear it, Miss Serket. Some folks are just too quick to judge. You might like the class, though. Takes a smart young lady to spend her free time usin' her brain instead of gossipin' and writin' in one of those journals. And this class... Well, the more brains you have, the more you can benefit from it."

"What is it I do in this class?" She pulled her hands off the table and into her lap as she spoke to hide her fidgeting. He reminded her of a street performer from her time back in Niev, edging on the passing people to take a gamble and guess which cup hide a small ping pong ball. He had smiled at her, all teeth, before her mother pulled her away.

"Why, what don't we do in my class? I've got the first and second years studyin' Shamanism... Third and fourth are readin' Tarot cards... The fifth years are learnin' their hoodoo while the sixth years learn their voodoo... And the seventh years get more freedom."

He ran a hand through his dark hair. "Of course, if you want a taste of what the class is like, my office is always open to the curious."

Well he had her interest perked now. "Oh? Any time?" So she was curious. She recalled being told muggles had their own kind of magic that was somewhat sort of-not the same as the kind used by witches and wizards.

She gave him another smile. "No charge?"

Facilier chuckled lightly at that. This girl was perfect. Curious and bright. "Any time. No charge."

"Good. Maybe I come by to see this magic." She was a little hooked. If it wasn't wizarding magic did that mean she could use it out of school? "When is next good time for you to show me?"

Facilier thought this over for a moment, or rather, pretended to. Students weren't exactly knocking down his door to learn... Yet.

"How 'bout later in the week?"

She mulled it over for a small moment before nodding. "Alright. It is a plan. Friday we meet." Considering it for a moment she pulled a hand out from its spot on her lap to hold out for him as a handshake.

"Is good to speak with you, Professor."

Facilier shook her hand enthusiastically, nodding. "I'll be looking forward to it, Miss Serket."
