WHEN: Sunday afternoon.
WHERE: The Great Hall
WHAT: Vriska is playing a game of Wizard's Chess by herself. Come and join her!
STATUS: Open and on-going.

So it was a little difficult to play chess by herself, but after a few stalemate rounds she managed to get into the grove of battling herself for victory. She got the idea over winter break when there was literally nothing for her to do but knit scarves for her great aunt and feed Nicholas, her Greenbottle Blue tarantula. It was a very long break for her, unfortunately.

"Knight to E5." Her words were still heavily accented from her native tongue, but at least understandable. Earlier she had weakly justified this game as speech practice (although it really wasn't, but the idea that it was made her feel better about playing it over and over) and she would stick with that reason.

[ Kanaya isn't extremely good at chess, but she comes over to watch. Mostly because girl '-' but also because she still thinks Wizarding things are fascinating, growing up in a house with primarily Muggle influences. ]

Do you know the charm that causes them to move?

[She is contemplating her next move when Kanaya approaches her. She looks up.]

No. Do you?

I want to find it. [ She sits down. ] It might be useful for other things, such as inanimate objects you wish to move on their own accord.

Look in a book? Or question Professor Matteris- a chance she could know. [She shrugs.] Cannot be too hard, no? Is only simple spell, I am sure.

[One of the knights taps their foot in impatience for Vriska to continue the game, but she ignores it for now.] Do you play?

I'm going to look in the library promptly. [ No asking the charms professor....she's weird. Kanaya doesn't get a good feeling from her. ] Not much, but I've played before.

[ She smiles. ]

I'd play with you, if you do not mind a slow player.

[dou8letrou8le]

[She smirks a little and shakes her head.] Do not worry, I go easy on you. Is not easy to be good like me.

[She switches around the board so Kanaya has the side with more pieces, seeing that a few have already been obliterated from her earlier game. She is so generous.]

[ So enamored that she's willing to overlook that smartass remark and grateful enough that she's not going to be left with the losing side. ]

Thank you. Do you play in here often?

[She is already starting to reset the game for them.]

Sometimes, yes. Sometimes I take it to library. Here is nice, though.
