Summer don't know me no more
WHO: Sue (Noodle), open!
TONE: Should be pretty light!
RATING: PG-13, at most
WHEN: April
WHERE: Out by the lake
WHAT: Back at school Noodle decides to practice her levitation charm and jam on her guitar.
STATUS: In progress
It was something she had thought up on break, but had been unable to attempt thanks to the rules. So as soon as she was able to, Sue had raced off to the lake and found a reasonably sized rock. Wand out, the incantation comes easy, Wingardium Leviosa murmured with the correct wand movements and the rock slowly lifts itself out of the dirt to hover. Sue allows herself a small smile before using another set of rocks to pull herself up onto the still hovering one, settling into place easily. She'll start sketching out designs then.
But right now she'll haul her acoustic guitar over her shoulder and into her lap and starting to strum. She'll just hang out here for awhile, rock hovering a few feet off the ground, feet swinging against the rock in the semblance of a rhythm as she stares out across the water. Only know and then does she check her fingers, the chords so engrained in her mind. And then she'll start to hum, and all together it begins to sound like a bare boned version of this but with a voice like this.

"S'catchy."
Catchy enough to steal later.

And then, because knows exactly what he's like. "If you steal it without acknowledgement I know where you can be found. But I do need a bass for it. I'm asking Stu to sing." The only offer you're getting.
no subject
He nods back, grinning enough to show his fanged teeth before changing to an innocent and confused expression.
"Steal? Me? Neverrrr. Where you got that idea I'll never know."
He flicks his wand out from his pocket and caws "Accio, Bass!" before tucking it away again. He holds his hand out and grabs El Diablo as she soars over, this would be a terribly dramatic move. Pity Noodle is the only one who will see it.
"Bass, you say?"
no subject
"From everything you do perhaps? You have no morals," is her response, tone dry and humourless as she switches chords. Honestly she just hit him over the head and drown him and the world would be better off.
Instead she watches as the bass appears, noting the drama behind the summoning. Now, if he could do that wordlessly, and with his wand hidden, it would be impressive for a muggle audience... "What would you have done if a fish came to your hand instead of your bass?"
Ignoringggg that last bit cuz she can.
no subject
He fiddles around with his bass, trying to pick up where she's leaving off but not trying particularly hard.
He stares at her for a second, not really sure how to answer that. "Errrrr, I would've tucked it in my pants and kept it for dinner."
no subject
No judgement in her voice. It's just a fact, and she's not a fool. Casually she starts to strum again, leaving it to him to find the gaps and fill them. A test? Perhaps.
Oh and he probably didn't get that... "A bass can also be a fish. And we are next to a lake. Though now I am curious as to how you would have cooked it. Do you even know how?"
no subject
He makes a variety of noises as he sits up, strumming over his strings lazily. He doesn't say it often, but music is as thrilling as it is relaxing. There's something he enjoys about the challenge Suzuki is putting forward here.
He doesn't always appear as enthusiastic as the others are about his instruments, but he can't resist playing along.
"Oooh. I'd still have it for dinner then. Raw."
no subject
The smallest smirk, just a tiny curve of her lip as she quickly switches songs. While she won't sing in front of Murdoc, she will hum. For now she's still working on her lyrics.
The fact that he's playing along is enough, and she knows this song will be better suited to him. Now to see if he picks it up.
"Sushi?"
no subject
AHA. A song he understands. His hands move much quicker, and if he wasn't sitting his hips would be moving too. He's alright with melancholy, slow music but he prefers things harder and faster. All things.
"Wazzat? A spell?"
He's glancing about for signs of magic.
no subject
Frankly, she's glad that he's sitting. The hip movements he's fond of attract too much attention and half the time make her want to hit him over the head with something. But the faster beat is nice and the sun warm and there's music."
"A food. From Japan."
no subject
He follows that with a sage nod. Look at Murdoc, king of deep thoughts.
"Japan, huh? Is everyone there sooooo incredibly lazy that they just eat fish. Raw."
A grin tweaks at the side of his mouth. "I like that."
no subject
And she'll just give him a blank look back because seriously. Comedian she is not.
Though that is soon followed by a frown and a rather violent pluck to the guitar's strings.
"Those are my people, my heritage. I would be careful what you say, Murdoc"
no subject
"You might be right about that one."
He's trying to match her new pace, but it's a less violent edge and more like a taunting, mocking echo of her plucking.
"I thought you were British."
no subject
Her own eyebrow raise is hidden under her fringe, but Noodle picks up the pace, continuing the challenge to Murdoc. Her strumming becomes faster, messier the sound all together courser.
"By adoption. I was born in Japan. Doesn't my appearance make that obvious? You've seen my family, I look nothing like them."
no subject
"I 'unno. I thought you were Chinese." He shrugs lazily and hunches over his bass. "Doesn't matter anyway, does it? You don't live in Japan so it don't really matter, eh?"
no subject
"That could be considered rude and offensive you know." Her own strumming slows and then stops, Noodle sighing. "It's still a part of me. It was my home till I was 8, I think. It's where I come from."
no subject
"Sweet tunes, sis!" he calls out to her cheerfully.
no subject
With a small nod she responds, head turned to the new boy, "Thank you. You play?"

He doesn't mean to be insulting, and in fact his tone is more curious than anything else, but Gamzee knows shit all about Japan, except that cars and motorcycles come from there, and also some of those cartoon shows.
no subject
"What about you?"
no subject
The boy pulled out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, opening it up ... and then staring sadly, as he realized the whole thing was, of course, soaked through with lake water.
no subject
Her strumming slows, till it's more just Sue picking at the strings with no real rhythm. Looking up she notices the box, and then the look and speaks up, "Try a drying charm or something?"
no subject
no subject
Carefully placing her guitar to the side she leans forward, holding a hand out. "Here. Give them to me. I'll see what I can do."

Within seconds the pack is dry, all the water evaporated. A quick check and then Noodle hands them back, tucking her wand away. "See?"
no subject
He's distracted by her handing the pack back, though, and he turns it over in his hands a few times before pulling a now dry cigarette out, grinning in delight. "Hey, Sue-bee, I motherfuckin' owe you one!"
no subject
His fascination and delight with the pack reminds her of Stu, the thought bringing a small smile to her face. The new nickname though gets a small head tilt. "Sue-bee? And don't worry about it."
