WHAT: Tavros sent Karkat a brief, nervous little note telling him to meet him in the library.

[Tavros is in a very far back corner of the library at a small table. He's hunched over a book, though it's clear his attention isn't entirely on the book, because he keeps looking up every few seconds nervously, as if someone is about to jump out and yell at him. He really hopes Karkat manages to find him, he didn't specify where at in the library to meet him, and he certainly wasn't going to be found easily tucked away in the little corner he was in.]

[When he got the note from Tavros, he raised an eyebrow at it before stuffing it into his jacket before anyone else could see it. He had a feeling he knew what this was about, but there was only so much he could tell. After browsing the romance section, he found Tavros at the back of the library.]

Hey.

[Tavros jumps at the sound of Karkat's voice. He'd just looked up and had turned his attention back to the book when Karkat snuck up on him- or maybe he'd not been sneaking, but either way, it startles Tavros.]

Oh my gosh! You, uh, really... I thought you were, maybe Maka.

[selfhatred]

[He hadn't really been sneaking. It wasn't really like he was attempting to spook the Hufflepuff more than he already was. Karkat blinked a little before setting himself back on one foot, hands resting in the pockets of his hoodie.]

Well if you wanted to avoid Maka, meeting in the library wasn't really the best idea. This place is like her █████ second home.

[Oh. Well. Oh.

He hadn't known that. Now he's even more on edge. But he really needed the book! So it was pretty necessary. But he's still scared as hell.]

Oh! I... I didn't know that... crap. Uhhh, well! It's not like, uh, I'm doing anything wrong! Just...reading...!

Let's go back to Gryffindor tower so I can collect Annabelle. I was planning on going to the music room anyway.

[Plus the music room would be prefect free. He doubted any of them practiced music except for those ones in Slytherin, but who gave a damn about them?]

[At Karkat's words, Tavros puts the book in his bag and backs up his chair, clearly eager to leave the library.]

Okay, uh... yeah! Let's go.

[selfhatred]

[Karkat non too gently kicks the chair on the opposite side of the table, removing his hands from his hoodie only to shove them back into his slack pockets, turning to lead the way and fall in step beside Tavros's wheelchair.]

[Tavros is quiet for a while as they make their way out of the library. He didn't feel comfortable in there anymore, so talking just didn't feel like a good idea. Finally once they were in the hall, he relaxed.]

So, uh... does it feel weird? Y'know... being, uh, hexed?

Nothing different from normal. Just can't █████ swear.

[He shrugged. He really didn't feel much different than usual. There was just a weird skip in his voice.]

Oh! Well, uh, at least it doesn't hurt...

[He smiles a small, relieved smile. A part of him had been worried it might be painful, even if that was silly.]

I, um... I tried to stop her, but... she wouldn't listen. I'm sorry... [His voice is sad and very, very apologetic. A part of him feels like a huge failure, because he can never get it right when he tries to help a friend.]

Hey, it's not your fault. She's just a hard ass █████ sometimes.

[Even though he got along fairly well with Maka he wasn't afraid to admit that. To be honest, Karkat was starting to get used to it. Yeah, he'd ranted at first, none of the expletives leaving his mouth as though he was just mouthing the words, but he was, unfortunately, getting used to it.]

I don't see how she can █████ get away with this.

But it is my fault, for not stopping her. [You can't make him stop blaming himself, it's impossible. He's a blackhole of self blaming depression.]

And, uh, she gets away with it because she's, a prefect.

It's █████ humiliating is what it is. Just because she's █████ PMSing doesn't mean she has to █████ take it out on me.

[Not that he knows whether it's her time of the month or not. Karkat gives a small sigh before tilting his head up a bit, shoulders slacking.]

Maybe I should talk to my Uncle.

[Tavros frowns more, letting out a soft sigh. He wishes he could make Karkat feel better, but the only thing he can think of is what he's already planning on doing.]

You could, uh... talk to me about stuff, if you want?

[That actually makes Karkat stop for a moment in mild surprise. It's not like he hasn't been offered an ear before, but that was what Gamzee was for, right? Speaking of which...]

Hey, do you remember what happened Sunday evening?

[Tavros stops too, and furrows his eyebrows at the question. Hmmm... what did he remember? Not... much. It was all very hazy.]

Uh... I don't know, really, kind of just... uh, talking, but I'm not sure about what, and... There's a lot of blanks...Why? Did, something happen, that you need to, uh, talk about?

[So that was it. Karkat and Gamzee were the only ones that remembered what happened, and he himself was in denial and claimed he forgot while Tavros did. In some ways, Karkat was almost jealous. The Gryffindor shrugs before starting to walk again.]

Nah. I don't remember anything either, and I think Gamzee's a bit upset about that or something. He's not gonna say anything of course. And I think maybe me getting together with Feferi upset him more than what he says.

[Oh... Gamzee what upset that they didn't remember? Well that made Tavros feel really guilty and he frowned.]

You, think he's upset? I mean, uh, why d'you think he would be? And, why wouldn't he tell us? I thought friends, um, told each other when they were upset? Also, why would he be upset about you dating Feferi?

Yeah, well Gamzee's not the type to tell someone he's bothered by something. He'll keep it to himself if he has to, but he won't let you get it out of him. [He shrugs a little.] I'm not sure but he seemed a bit out of it when Eridan exploded over the news.

[He's quiet for a few seconds.]

I wonder if, I can get him to tell me what's up... I mean, uh, I tell him almost everything, so... Maybe he'll do the same. [A part of him doesn't believe it, though. As naive as he may sound, he does know Gamzee tends to keep to himself.]

[Karkat kind of knew about Gamzee's little crush. Okay, maybe he hadn't been told outright but the so-called master of romance wasn't unfamiliar with the signs. He shrugs again, looking at the Hufflepuff next to him.]

Maybe you could. I'm sure he'd tell you more than he'd tell me if he's angry with me or anything.

I still don't, uh, understand why he would be upset with you... [Tavros sighs.] I wonder if, uh, something happened, Sunday? Are you sure that, you don't remember anything...?

[For a very brief moment Karkat considered telling Tavros, but he shrugged it off. If the other boy didn't remember it was probably because he didn't want to. Instead he shook his head.]

Nah. Nothing. Just the memory of waking up with my mouth tasting like ass and vowing never to smoke again.

Oh... hah, yeah. It doesn't, uh, taste very good the next day, does it? [He laughs lightly, though it's not very amused.] I was, too busy puking, though.

[He sighs again, wishing he knew what might have happened to upset Gamzee. But there was nothing he could do, so finally he shrugs.] Well, we'd better focus, um, on getting that hex off, and worry about other things later.

Do you even know what you're doing?

[Not that he wanted to throw Tavros off if he really wanted to help, but...well, he knew how bad the Hufflepuff was at spell casting sometimes. This could end up more disastrous than what he intended.]
