Of shooting stars, and those who gaze upon them.
WHO: Tony and Jane
TONE: easy going, possibly quite nerdy.
RATING: G
WHEN: (Backdated) July 19th
WHERE: Jodrell Observatory
WHAT: Tony shows Jane the Delta Aquarid meteor shower, from the best observatory in the UK.
STATUS: Ongoing!
-
Tony knew that Jane had a thing for the space and it's contents. So when he found out about a meteor shower that was happening. Tony felt strangely compelled to not only see the shower with her. But show it to her with the best equipment around that didn't need a passport to get to.
One of the perks to being a Stark, was that people liked to indulge in Tony's whims, because it could get them grant money from Stark Industries. So when the request was sent to Jodrell, there wasn't too much of a problem with it, especially not when Tony offered a comfortable compensation price for letting him use it.
On the night, Tony was driven over to Jane's house to pick her up. Which he did rather charmingly. And didn't tell her a thing about where they were going until they drove through the gates.
"Oh, did I mention we'd be viewing the shower through the main observatory. Because, that's what's happening. And I think I can even get access to the radio telescope too. I thought it we could see if we can see out friends houses from here. We can watch Steve polish boyscout badges."

“Wait – the main—what do you mean?” Her head swivels to look at him, brown eyes widening, just a little bit.
“Tony, what are you saying? Where are we going?”
Because she is about to scream in excitement.

He gives a cheeky grin as she starts to get excited.
"We. Are going to see a meteor shower at the Lovell Telescope."
He pauses for effect.
"I think it's like the third largest terrestrial telescope in the world or something. "
To be fair, Tony's never put a lot of effort into knowing about stars and meteor showers. But he does know that the Lovell will give them a great view of whatever it's focused on.

Yeah yeah, okay Tony.
"What--"
Jane stares at him -- stares --because this better not be a joke.
"Are you serious? Are you actually serious?"
no subject
"Uh. Why. Um. Wouldn't I be serious? I fly to New York every year when school finishes for a week, why wouldn't I just be able to get into an observatory in England?"
He gives her a confused look. Because really, it's just a telescope. Sure, an expensive and very GOOD telescope. But it's not like he's sending them both into space.
He'd have to take her to the US for that.

"Tell me the name of the place. Tell me, Tony -- where are we going?"
Because she needs to be sure. Absolutely sure.

Tony looks back to see if he can see the sign from here, but it's not like the back of the sign shows off anything other than, funnily enough, the back of the sign.
"Okay, well if you're going to be all weird and insistent on this. Jodrell Bank Observatory."
