It's Jane's Brithday

WHAT: What it says on the tin, man. Dave and Rose have organized a little birthday party for Jane, and here we are.

Rose may have noticed it slightly, but doesn't really think any of it. Or at the very least, she decides that it isn't too important to press when Jane should be enjoying herself. Maybe she has a slight head cold or some kind.

"I wanted to give something that you would like to have though."

Rose has knitted Jane some oven mitts. They have little blue heart designs stitched into them. There's also a knitted apron. That one isn't as well made. Who knew aprons would be hard to knit!!! She also included chocolate and candy. "I can always make something else if those are not to your liking."

Jane holds them up, immediately, well. Touched! And. And they're really very well made! Better than she could do!

Oh, she might actually tear up. This isn't fair. She should be-- oh, she doesn't know. Sassy or something? Aloof? But instead Rose is such a sweetheart and she. She actually likes her quite a bit!

Jane puts it all back in the bag, places the bag down in the grass, and pulls Rose into a hug. "I love it! I really do!"

Rose ended up being that significant other you want to hate, but you can't because she's legitimately not a terrible person. Obviously they should just elope together. Obviously.

Rose hugs her back. "I hope you're enjoying yourself today, Jane. I'm glad that I could have helped in anyway to make it better."

[stubbornskeptic]

Jane pulls away, laughing nervously.

"Oh, it's all so amazing. I still can't believe Dave went to this much trouble." She shakes her head, adding, "I suppose I'll have to find some way to pay him back, though I don't know how."

"Dave does like to be a people pleaser at times. I'm sure he wanted you to enjoy yourself." And maybe it's partially because they couldn't celebrate with John. It's really unfortunate that both their two closest friends are no longer here to enjoy themselves. She hopes they come back.

"I'm sure maybe not pranking him for a little bit would be a suitable way to pay him back. No buckets over the door or shaving cream. But I'm sure that would also put him on edge."

[stubbornskeptic]

"And isn't that a prank in its own way?" Jane giggles, waving a hand. "But no, I was thinking more like a gift of some sort. I wish I knew what he wanted, though..."

She too wished John were around. He'd have an idea of something Dave might like, although she'd have to discern his seriousness about the whole thing.

"He enjoys collecting dead things preserved in jars." This is said rather bluntly with a careful smile. Like this is a totally normal thing to do as a hobby. "He is also an avid fan of music by musicians no one else has ever heard before. Honestly, I would just recommend getting him a rather fetching dress with an abundance of frills and bows. I'm sure he'd somehow get some use out of it." Rose-Not-Helping-At-All-Lalonde.

Jane pales, initially-- dead things in jars, huh? --and by the end of Rose's suggestions her cheeks are dusted with pink again. "A dress? Really? He's...into that sort of thing?"

Not that she would judge!

It's just.

Interesting.

"Oh yes! He has wished from time to time that we had lived each others' life. Mother would have really dolled him up and he was unfortunately denied that time of his life growing up elsewhere. I think that he would greatly appreciate it."

Rose is just going to mess around a little. That, and she'd like to see this actually happen for her own enjoyment.

[stubbornskeptic]

"Hmm!" She grows pinker still. "Any ideas as to what style he might prefer?"

"The girliest that one can acquire. I believe he's very fond of ruffles and trim. He does enjoy card suits though, so perhaps anything affiliated with such print will be more desirable."

[stubbornskeptic]

"Hmm, I suppose I'll have to look into that. Maybe magic-sewing is easier than sewing the traditional way and I can actually make him something!" Jane was liking this idea more by the minute, although it did continue to make her cheeks burn in a rather confusing manner.

"I think he would be positively touched if you were to make it yourself in anyway. You would really be spoiling him." She is so not sorry. If this actually happens, she will be so happy with herself. You've fed the troll, Jane.

[stubbornskeptic]

Jane beams, pleased. "Ah, then I'll have to try. He's been such a dear, lately, even despite certain, um, events."

She waves her hand, dismissing this last thought without explaining it. "Thank you for the tip, Rose!"

Events? She's so curious, but it seems like Jane won't tell her more. She'll have to bother Dave about it if curiosity gets the better of her. "Of course. I am one for trying to give Dave happiness as much as I can." By that, she means that she must enact her sibling love through trolling.
