New Year Assemble!

WHAT: Thor wanted their friends together, Tony didn't want to be alone bringing in the New Year.

On New Years Eve, Jarvis has the living room set up for guests with chairs and pillows about with a table off to one side with various chips, soft drinks, and sweets. Music playing from a stereo in the corner.

Come dinner time the dinning room table is full of food and drink to enjoy.

Depending on when people show up, Tony can be found either in the garage messing with his kit car, or in the living room, eyeing off the snacks.

So I can see. Perhaps I should be less skeptical of you!

[He smiles for a moment.] Ah! I brought something for you too! [He would have forgotten if this hadn't happened.]

[arrogantalloy]

Well yeah, that could help.

[Tony raises an eyebrow, his turn to be sceptical now.]

Wait. You sure it's not meant for like, Steve, or Natasha?

[brothor]

I gave them their gifts long ago, you fool!

[He grins in a way that says TRUST ME.] Shut your eyes!

[arrogantalloy]

Fool? Gee tha-

[Tony immediately looks suspiciously at him.]

You're not going to punch me again, are you?

[brothor]

It flatters you!

[He laughs, snorting a little.] What sort of friend would I be if I punched you after being given such a lovely gift? If I hit you, you may take it back! Now shut your eyes!

[arrogantalloy]

[Tony narrows his eyes giving him a scrutinising look before slowly closing his eyes.]

I don't want you kissing me, either.

[brothor]

[He crinkles his nose.]

I absolutely will not kiss your filthy mouth. [He buries his hand into his pocket, pulling out a metallic, beaded acorn on a long chain and draping it over Tony's head.]

Open!

[arrogantalloy]

It's not filthy, it's soft and charming.

[Tony tilts his head curiously as he feels Thor put something on him. Once he opens his eyes he looks down, picking up the metallic acorn and looking at it.]

An acorn?

[He looks at Thor.]

Okay, could be missing something, but this is an acorn, right?

[He looks back at the acorn. He doesn't hate it, and he has to admit it's a good looking acorn, he just isn't sure if this is an in-joke that he's forgotten about or a Norweegian thing, or just a Thor is weird thing.]

[brothor]

Indeed! [He nods enthusiastically.]

In Norse culture it is customary to keep an acorn within your dwelling so as to protect you from the WRATH of THOR. As you might have realised, my namesake is a god of thunder! I belived it would be clever to gift you an acorn so that when you are wearing it I am unable to hurt you.

So, I will not punch you so long as you are wearing it!

[arrogantalloy]

[Tony looks almost amused]

This is starting to sound like some strange way to enforce our friendship. Weirdly enough, I like it.

[brothor]

It is a symbol of our truce! Not friendship! You read far too much into things, Stark. It only means you are not to be trifled with.

[He smiles and claps a hand on Tony's shoulder.] I am glad you think so!

[arrogantalloy]

[He winces slightly at the hand on his shoulder. Damn it Thor, not everyone's a brick house like you.]

Not to be trifled with? How is an acorn mean that? Other than being a Tiger stone for you?

[brothor]

[Thor raises an eyebrow as Tony winces. Silently he can't believe Tony is that weak, on the outside he just shrugs and smiles.]

I told you! The acorn is a sign to Thor. It tells him not to strike! ...What is a tiger stone?

[arrogantalloy]

[Tony is a think tank, not a war tank]

You say that. But I'm still feeling... Shocked, right about now. A tiger stone it's a placebo for the gullible. For example.

[Tony picks up a salt shaker.]

This salt shaker keeps away dragons.

[brothor]

Why are you shocked? I did not clap my hand on your shoulder with that much force, Stark. You are ridiculous.

[He rolls his eyes.] Obviously there is no real magic to it! It is merely symbolic!

...No it does not.

[arrogantalloy]

I'm like a peach, you have to be gentle or I bruise. Not all of us look like we're descended from our name sake.

[He wiggles the shaker]

Look around. See a dragon here?

[brothor]

Is a Stark even a thing? Perhaps a Stark is a soft peach as well.

[Flat look.] Obviously it is working because I have not hit you despite how irritating you have been.

[arrogantalloy]

Stark; Sharply clear, impossible to avoid. It might be right, but it doesn't mean 'able to knock ox unconscious'.

[He puts the salt shaker down.]

The acorn works because you've put your values on it. But hey, now I have it I wont go to so much trouble to annoy you.

[brothor]

Certainly not! You are not sharply clear, you are vague and an irritation. You are impossible to avoid, though.

[He shakes his head.] An acorn is a warning for Thor. It is a reminder. It is like writing important things on your arm so you do not neglect to do them.

[arrogantalloy]

My homework is sharp and clear, so really. it's still me.

I've never write on my arms. Wait you said this was protection, now it's a warning?

[brothor]

What makes you think that I care about the standard of your homework? It is not you! It is irrelevant.

Oh! Of course! You are perfect. Silly me! [He scrubs at his face with his hand.] You suck the fun out of everything, Stark.

[arrogantalloy]

[Tony actually can't help but chuckle at Thor's frustration.]

Sometimes. You're too easy.

[brothor]

Take the acorn off and say it again.

[He raises a challenging eyebrow.]

[arrogantalloy]

Wait, you're really not going to hit me while I'm wearing it?

[He looks almost confused by this.]

For a genuis you are terrible at understanding simple concepts, Stark! I have explained this to you several times, why is it that you do not understand?
