It matters to me. I don't like seeing you like this Sherlock. It isn't you.

[They weren't friends. But Greg respects Sherlock, respects his intelligence and his cunning a little. And to see him put to shame by whatever spell gone wrong just seemed wrong, especially when Sherlock, while not the most moral or upright wizard, isn't nearly as bad as this thing was painting him as.

Though when the shade brought up John, a muscle definitely twitched near his jaw. Choosing instead to ignore it, he addressed Sherlock directly instead.]

Look, it's just not right to leave you alone when you're like this. Is there a professor we could see? Someone who can get rid of this damn fake?

[Sherlock cast his gaze around to see if he could see others. The nature of these things was... unfamiliar.]

Are you just going to leave it there, Sherlock? You're not going to point out how wrong he is?

[The shadow sighed.]

You see, Greg, but you do not observe. You think I'm what's upsetting him? I honestly can't tell him a thing he hasn't already heard or thought about and then ignored. I can tell you though. I control the flow of secrets and information and all he can do is walk faster and hope you stop following. Not that I even have to tell you. The idea's already planted. You can't help but want to know now. Sorry to say it's actually not all that interesting--bit hyped up by his obstinacy, really.

I saw a bunch of other students earlier today; jumpy and touchy as hell, just like you. I thought everyone was just upset by the memorial, but...

[The shadow's comment drew a sharp glare from Greg at it's way. It was true that he was interested, but he didn't want to learn about Sherlock this way. It just wasn't right.]

Really? Because all I'm seeing here is someone who's deliberately trying to bring a man down. So if Sherlock here pisses you off so much, why don't you just get lost yourself?

He doesn't 'piss me off'. He's just acting like an idiot. He's better than this. And if he wants any sort of life after school, he needs to face facts.

[Sherlock waved his hand for the shadow to shut up. Greg was on to something.]

The memorial... it started after that event, yes. Possibly some sort of curse, then. The people you observed, do you know their bloodclass?

[He crossed his arms and frowned, recalling what he knew of them.]

I'm not sure of all of them, but...I'd say they were a mix bunch.

[Pausing, his voice dropped to a low tone as he voiced his suspicions.]

You don't think someone's targeting Pure-bloods, do you?

It was my first assumption, yes. Considering the perpetrators of the crimes being remembered.

[Sherlock scowled. If it was mixed then it didn't work. Something else was going on.]

There must be some common factor. Or else everyone would be affected.

It's possible. Impossible to know for certain without a decently sized test sample, though. We need to find out who all is seeing these phantoms and who all has one.

You have more than enough problems of your own to deal with without involving yourself in other people's issues. If you don't want Mycroft planning your future as though you were his toy doll then it's time to get to work.

I think what you should do first is get rid of it so you can work in peace. Your Defence teacher's Donoghue, right? Go talk to him and get his opinion, maybe a spell or two to blast this thing to bits.

Donoghue and I don't exactly get along.

You mock him to his face. Special needs is not a free ticket to insubordination.

He's still a teacher, and he'd be the best man to go to if we're looking at a curse. Unless you want to try the Healers. Either way, just letting this thing trash talk you isn't going to help with your research. It's bloody annoying.

I suppose it is the most logical choice.

And it's hard to be scared of a man who already knows everything I could tell him anyway.
